The experience of staying at a resort
Being charged for things that should have been complimentary like a bottle of water

Plenty of activities for the kids and friendly staff.
The rooms were dated. The tub/shower combo was rusty in spots and the coating was peeling off the tub floor. The shower curtain rod was barely hanging on and the tub drained poorly. Don't have photos, but stayed in room 716, check it out for yourself.

Moody Gardens has the feel of an upscale hotel. It's the little touches, such as bringing a petite size jar of honey with your hot tea or croissants and wait staff who dress to impress and don't refer to guests as "you guys." We enjoyed eating in their first floor restaurant, and the food was good and reasonably priced. The large rooms are nicely decorated with wonderful king-size pillows and a comfortable mattress. We almost sleep better here than at home. All of the bathrooms have safety features, of grab bars, and a tub mat in the shower. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a resort size swimming pool with a very large hot tub. Both were sparkling clean and well lit at night for safety. The hotel is centrally located and close to the Seawall, Pleasure Pier, and the Strand. Moody Gardens also has a variety of activities located next door... The aquarium is our favorite, but there are others too. We love their winter activities and the feeling that we are part of their family. This is our hotel of choice for every visit to Galveston.
The bathroom needs towel racks closer to the sink.

Good price for amenities
No lifeguard, children running crazy by pool. Brought vomit to attention of staff not cleaned up all day!

The room was spacy and seemed to be clean!
I purchased one type of view and got another one. Front desk was trying to tell me that was the room I purchased! That was absolutely ridiculous! Next day manager came and told me that, no, that was not the room view I purchased. tried to “treat” me with free breakfast and finally also gave us a discount on the room.
workers there are not friendly, do not make you feel welcome or appreciated! Room service entered the room even though I had the warning out saying “do not disturb”. service has to improve A LOT!!!

The breakfast was very good, with regular changes in the menu, so we don’t get to eat same thing everyday.
Our rooms were close, but not connected. I was always on the hallway going to check on the rest of my children.

I booked this through booking.com. After booking I read more reviews, I started to get worried as many were not favorable. To our surprise, we did not experience any of the complaints that we read. The water was hot and good water pressure, the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and clean. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again. The value for money paid was more than fair. (We stayed here the week before spring break). Oh, and the beds are above average (unlike some reviews stated.)
Kinda bummed that the breakfast buffet was only on weekends. From a management view I understand the cost versus guests would equal a ton of wasted food. There is the option to order from the table. I graded this super hard and somewhat selfish, but the breakfast buffet was that good.

Very comfortable, welcome feel to the atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Restaurant was reasonably priced and the Ribeye was fabulous!
Sink had a small leak, and the sink was clogged. Vending machines had drinks at $5 each, way too much after we are spending a pretty penny on the hotel itself.

Room was spacious.
I paid $140 and feel like that's definitely the most anyone should be paying. Check in was OK. Not the friendliest bunch. I feel like the guy didn't really tell me what the hotel offered. Outdoor/indoor pool was not heated like they told me before and during check in. Both pools are kind of small. The indoor pool room smelled so bad due to the high levels of chlorine. At night you have to get your pool towel from like a vending machine. Towels have trackers, and if you don't return it, they will charge you. Felt like I was staying at some ghetto hotel. Gym is a decent size but very old equipment. The carpet in the room/ hotel was stained/ dirty. It needs a good deep cleaning. The bed was very hard/firm.The TV in the room was too small. I booked the island view, but it was not a nice view (view was of the parking lot and Schlitterbahn.) Mini refrigerator was kind of loud. Rooms are older/outdated. There's not much to do in Galveston; it's definitely not a place that you need to stay overnight, and the beaches are not good. But if you decide to stay overnight, I would only recommend this hotel if you are paying under $140 and it's summer so you can enjoy the pool.

all the activities they had for the family, great place to spend Christmas
they can improve on cleanliness. I noticed that there was some dirt marks in the bathroom. The shower curtain was not fully placed on rack, one of the chairs had a broken leg. There was no microwaves in the room, which was very inconvenient
