Charming architecture with detached bungalows, super clean, wonderful greenery, large clean beach with views, staff very helpful and super friendly without exception, perfect service incl good wifi and good food. Makes much better impression than the nearby resorts to the south.
Pricey taxi when ordering from afar, at times loud music at dinner, but one can escape to the far end of the restaurant.

I loved everything about la pirogue. The setting is idyllic. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly and efficient. Food delicious, fresh and well presented
For South Africans the drinks prices are exhorbitant. Mostly catering for a European market

Location and beach was superb
Service at the bar was very very slow and almost indifferent, but it was redeemed by the wonderful John

Beautiful location and facilities
Food and beverages overpriced. We ended up eating in other locations and purchasing wine from the local supermarket.

All the staff are welcoming, friendly and give excellent service. The food was very nice.
I stayed at La Pirogue with my mum last year. Because I had such a nice time that this year I came back with my husband, my daughter, and my mum I even treated my niece for a couple night stay and my sister and brother-in-law for one night stay at La Pirogue.
It took a long time and a few phone calls and many
messages to get a confirmation for an additional bed for two nights for my niece. The helpline staff at booking.com and the staff at La Pirogue did their best. However, the procedures at booking.com seem to be the let down. Every time, I made a phone call or sent a message, I had to explain everything from the start.

The best part for me was definitely the beatiful picture-perfect palm-fringed beach with Le Morne (and other mountains) as a backdrop AND the lush hotel gardens. Absolutely stunning!
* Clean and comfortable room with a mini bar that was refilled daily. Also, thanks to Wahida for making our room look amazing every day!
* Good food with a great variety
*Gorgeous beach, many free water-sport activities, I really enjoyed the paddle-board
* Friendly and attentive staff
Nothing really

the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the beach is beautiful and there is enough parasols, the whole environment is amazing! The staff was really friendly and helpful with everything. The food was delicious and there were plenty of choices.
The service in the restaurants are a little bit slow. We asked the resort if they could provide a cot for our 1 year old and they didn’t answered to that question. On booking there is a statement that there are no cots available, so we brought our own. At the end there was a cot in our room, so we could have spared ourselves an extra baggage.

Beautiful location and property with direct access to beach.
The staff at all restaurants was very poorly trained and mostly unpolite. On several occasions drink and food orders did not arrive and were only supplied after multiple requests which impacted the lunch / dining experiences. The staff members at reception, the kids club as well as for other services (eg car rental) were friendly and helpful. The buffet supplied in the mornings and evenings (we booked half-board) was very average compared to other 4 star hotels as it really lacked variety. The buffet included very basic food options (eg beans/ bean stew; basic vegetables such as canned corn and green peas, as well as simple dishes that lacked the wow factor and were quite similar over the 7 days. The presentation was average. The taste and quality of the items on offer was good. There were very limited options for people with dietary requirements. The communication during an approaching Cat 3 Cyclone was limited and guests were left to guess what the procedures at the hotel would be, should the situation intensify further. TV screens at the rooms could have been used to provide instructions/updates/information on the status/ any instructions from the hotel as well as info on water/food supply during the cyclone. The printed info sheet received the day prior to the weather event lacked information. Compared to two earlier stays at the hotel over 10 years ago (both amazing!) the level of service and food supplied has dropped significantly, which was disappointing at this price point.

Amazing location, the most beautiful beach on the island. Safe (protected), clean. Polite staff, (aaahh.. the best kids club team ever - led by Krishna, a really professional guy whose team knows how to put a smile on any kid's face) - other staff (like the breakfast and dinner staff, or sports acticvities staff) also are always there for you with a smile, ALWAYS there to fulfill all your requests, and assist you in literally everything you ask for. The most "5 star" experience we have ever had in our lives, it will truly be hard to surpass the bar they have set! If it fits your budget - you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful gardens and ambience.
Not far away from some points of natural beauty.
Flic en flac probably isn't one of the most attractive parts of the island.

The hotel was thoughtfully designed and looked beautiful. Bungalows were nice and cosy, again very well designed.
Lovely clean and airy room, cleaned by very friendly staff.
The lady at the excursion desk - very friendly and helpful!
Lovely location right on a beautiful beach.
Check in process was relatively cumbersome, where I had to dig out booking number etc. from booking.com. Generally you just give your passport. Not a big huge deal but not the best welcome.
Some staff members were very helpful and friendly - others not so much (especially within the beach bar). It also took a long time to get served each time I went, when there seemed to be plenty of staff standing around.
Food on the whole was very very mediocre.
Breakfast I was attended to by a staff member once over the 3 days.
In the evening there was nowhere on-site to purchase a small meal, which as a solo traveller was a bit inconvenient. The first night I arrived at 8pm and my only option was to pay for the buffet which was too big/expensive for what I needed. The coconut cafe and other a la carte restaurant were fully booked (although they seemed to only serve set menus at the same price as the buffet in any case). My only option was to take a taxi into the town which wasn’t too appealing after the flight etc or room service.
Requested a quiet room however experienced interruption from the live entertainment until 11pm each night.
I would agree with some of the previous reviewers that it is a little over rated, however it is a 4 star hotel and not a 5. For the price though, I was quite disappointed. I have stayed in a much better hotel on the island for less money.

The place is awesome. Beautiful beach, lovely garden, super bungalows. Tip: use the local restaurant, the Coconut Cafe. But book in advance it is small and can be full very quickly! Tip2: watch the sunset with cocktail in your hand. Unbeatable experience
The food was overall good. But for one night, they made an Italian dinner. It was terrible! Most of the dishes were uneatable. Why the hell are you trying to make European food for Europeans who can eat it all the time? Stick to Mauritian food. You have great spices, local sea food, local fruits. Why trying to make that you can't?

I loved the low key feel to the beach side bungalows. They are clean, comfortable and beautiful, amongst the bamboo trees with birds singing all around. There are loads of sporty activities on site to use as and when you feel, for free - mini golf, ping pong, volley ball, boule, tennis, kayaks, pedalos, it goes on.
Some of the food tasted bland but there was a good selection

location and above all the integration with nature . the bungalows are hidden between palm palm trees .. a perfect join with the environment.
too expensive
