It is very unique being so old. I loved it. The bed was comfortable. Cathy had a list of restaurants and a description of what they had to eat. It was located close to a lot of restaurants. We could see the water looking out the seconded floor window.
I would highly recommend staying there.

The property is a quintessential Maine building with excellent art piece’s throughout. It is in a wonderful location with access to all points of interest within a day’s trip. We did daily trips both north and south and returned to the property and it’s well equipped kitchen for our evening meals.

A great rental. Quiet, comfortable, clean, and super cozy. The little outside deck an added bonus. Great book selection! There is nothing not to like about this property. Convenient to everything. I suspect this will not be my first time at this property.

This property was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a lovely short (3-day) stay. It was conveniently located, and we loved the views of the Penobscot Bay from the apartment, which we hadn't anticipated.

Old place full of character - lots of art - inventive linens on beds - very accommodating owners - there when you needed them but left us our privacy otherwise. We would return.

Such a lovely place, filled with character and charm! We enjoyed our time here immensely. We loved our walk out to the lighthouse and had excellent meals at several Rockland restaurants. Rockland is also a convenient base for forays to Camden, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens (and its fabulous giant trolls), and more.

We had a nice stay while in town for a wedding. Lovely New England home with fine details and comfortable furnishings. Loved the old New England charm of the house and it’s antiques.

The Captain Zadak Brewster house was a real treat. Loved the cozy rooms (living room, dining room and kitchen). We explored Rockland, Camden and Wiscasset from the convenient location of the home. The view from Mount Battie is breathtaking. Many lighthouses to explore. The walk out to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse was a challenge but well worth the trek. The hosts thought of everything to make our stay perfect. Thank you!

The downstairs apartment was spacious, comfortable and everything we were looking for. We stayed 5 nights and found the location to be ideal as we enjoyed daily outings to discover the beauty of the entire Midcoast area. Cathy and George, our hosts, were friendly, helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again.

My siblings and I enjoyed every aspect of this historic property. The neighborhood is quiet, yet close to the ocean, Samoset Resort and other tourist spots. The antique furnishings, beautiful wood floors and architecture create a warm, welcoming and comfortable ambience. I've not stayed anywhere with a better equipped kitchen. From the shower shampoo and soap dispensers to instructions for using all the TVs and remotes hosts, Cathy and George, obviously thought of every detail a visitor may need. Cathy was kind, helpful, and responsive to our questions.
I don't think you can find a better place to stay for the cost. I highly recommend this property and would most certainly choose to stay here again.

The Captain Zadoc Brewster house is beautiful, capturing the spirt, history and charm of Maine’s central coast. Cathy was most gracious, and very helpful in getting us settled, and keeping us content. A wonder

My wife and I stayed in the downstairs apartment which for a week during the Lobster Festival. It was very spacious and met our needs quite well. The walk to town is only a mile or so but lacks sidewalks part of the way and a little congested at a couple of points. Suffice it to say we most always drove into town. Parking was a bit of a problem because of the Lobster Festival, but we were able to find spots not too far away from where we wanted to go. We had a wonderful time in Rockland which was a return to my birthplace for the first time in a number of years. I highly recommend the Monhegan Boat line at Port Clyde And the Marshal Point Lighgt House. The hosts were excellent and offered helpful advice for restaurants with vegetarian/vegan options. We hope to return in the not too distant future.

Pretty much as described. Didn’t find a lot to do in the local area though. Great if you want to just hang out on the deck or by the fire pit. Owners are quick to respond with whatever needed.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here! The house was comfortable and very well equipped, it had all the touches of home and I felt like we could have stayed for a month (plenty of spaces to work if you're working from "home" and a stocked kitchen). It was very close to the main street area and great restaurants. Cathy provided a helpful list of restaurants and activities to try (go to Claws for the lobster and In Good Company for a nicer dinner. Farnsworth museum was fantastic). We really enjoyed making breakfast and sitting on the quiet porch in the mornings, as well as the firepit (they generously provided wood). Cathy was kind and communicative and this is a place I would come back to for years to come. Hopefully for longer next time!

This location is absolutely perfect. The details were all there!! Rustic and adorable, cozy and comfortable…
Everything you could need for cooking in the kitchen. Plenty of space to visit, read, play games, or plan your next outing. We loved having a fireplace in the sitting room. We loved having a patio to enjoy our wine. My only complaint is that I only had time for a one night stay!!!! I could have easily stayed a whole week.
All the directions were very much appreciated from
Where to park to how to build a fire.

Overall the property was very comfortable and well appointed, except for the kitchen. After purchasing Maine blueberries, I wanted to bake a pie, I opened the oven and it was filthy. By the looks and smell, it hasn't been cleaned in a while. The dishwasher downright stunk. Sorry can't find a better word. My sister and cousin were sitting around the kitchen table and when I opened the DW to load, the stench permeated the kitchen area. The cabinets were a complete disaster. There's a small shelf and then items were placed on the floor inside the cabinet. First there's a pan, on top a platter, on top of that a bowl and so on. There was left over food in one cabinet, but it looked as if it was thrown in there. A review in July 2018 said the washer/dryer didn't work well, and I guess it was broken again. Cathy informed me a new one was ordered. Lastly on Monday night we wanted to grill chicken on the charcoal grill. When I opened the grill it was full of ash up to the grill. The owner should make sure the grill is clean for each guest. If you rent, bring you own set of knives, the ones in the kitchen are dull and dangerous. Many of the blades or loose from the handles and should be just thrown out. Unfortunately, with all the mishaps in the kitchen, this unit does not warrant five stars.

This is one of the best properties we have ever stayed so far. Owners' passion and devotion can be felt from all over the places in the property.Easy access from Route 1, and Cathy was very helpful before check-in and during our stay.We will stay longer next time!

Fun, spacious, very well equipped house as a springboard to adventures around Rockland and Camden. The kids (3 and 5) loved their little bedroom and we loved what was effectively a suite with separate living and dining rooms. The place just goes on and on! Neighborhood: It's a quiet pleasant small street (albeit off a busy main road), and kind of a world unto itself. And yet, a huge supermarket is right around the corner if you need something. You wouldn't really be inclined to walk anywhere off the small street, but unless that's your priority, it shouldn't be a factor.Cathy and George were welcoming, friendly, and then let us do our thing. Thanks, we had a great time. PS: Also, the best bookshelf i have ever seen in a rental place. Most impressive!
