This was a perfect home/cabin for the two of us. It was very clean, well furnished, etc. We loved the star gazing! We weren't there much during the day - gone hiking in Big Bend - Pat O's was a great location for this! Our only negative thing to say doesn't pertain directly to Pat O's but to the road leading to it. We arrived after dark and the road up to the driveway was challenging (we had received excellent directions via email). I would recommend a vehicle with high clearance - (if you are going to Big Bend NP to hike there were several hikes that also required high clearance vehicles to get to the trailhead parking via challenging rock roads.)
We loved Pat O's and made a friend of a Road Runner bird who was hanging around two mornings in a row.

We enjoyed our stay over the Holiday week - very close to town and Big Bend - house was comfortable - had to buy a few things to make "thanksgiving dinner" as far as kitchen items go - but they had everything you would normally need - would stay here again!

Very nice accommodations. After hiking during the day, the cabin was a nice, comfortable place to go in the evening. Close to restaurants. Everything we needed to be comfortable.

We booked this wonderful home to check out Big Bend National Park, and really enjoyed this hidden gem in this small and remote ghost town of Terlingua. The house was clean and welcoming. The bed linens and towels were clean and really nice. The surrounding area was absolutely gorgeous. If you want to see the night sky, this is the place to see it, absolutely amazing. The people that ran it were responsive and wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. I would go back with my family in a heartbeat.

The house was great, as advertised, and clean. Sunsets were amazing with incredible view of mountains. Manager was very responsive to questions. Property is short drive to park entrance. Perfect for our family of 4.

My son and I were looking for a convenient location to Big Bend. This property is between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranck State Park. convenient location for both. Also convenient to Star Light Theater in Ghost Town. This property added to our vacation enjoyment. Would definitely stay here again.

Pat O's is wonderful--super clean, well stocked with everything needed, and very comfortable. Everything about it is top-notch! We enjoyed the information provided about the cabin's history, and our river guide for the Santa Elena Canyon float trip said he had been trained by Pat!
This will be always be our first choice for lodging in the Big Bend area.

Didn’t realize it was a gravel road getting there. That info might have been helpful. Also the word “brew” was completely rubbed off the button on the coffee maker so I had to go online and find coffee maker directions. Realized the silver button with no words on it was the brew button. Maybe leave a sign saying how to brew the coffee with the missing words on the button. AC was loud so we wore earplugs at night for.sleeping. Otherwise, we were very happy with our stay. Great stocked kitchen. Good location.

Wonderful place to stay in the ghost town near Big Bend National Park. Best amenities of all the VRBOs we have stayed in. Shampoo, coffee and other stuff. Made life more civilized in the middle of nowhere. Well cleaned and maintained. One bedroom and pull out sofa makes it suitable for a couple and a child. Would not recommend for a large family. History of Pat O write-up in the shelf gave a great historical perspective on the place. Access is passable for any vehicle just be aware that it is a rough road. Nothing to be frightened of, just drive slowly and carefully. Wonderful view from a very peaceful front porch setting in the provided rocking chairs. A great place to spend some quiet time.

We enjoyed our stay at Pat O’s Place over Spring Break! The home had everything we needed—plenty of linens, toiletries, well-stocked kitchen, lots of storage hooks (these came in handy!) and we loved the property, as well. Our kids enjoyed hiking around and looking at the rocks. Thankfully the rattlesnakes were still hibernating so we didn’t come across any! We did get to hear a pack of coyotes come through the yard one night which was awesome! There was a TV in the house which it explicitly said in the listing that there was no TV, so that was a pleasant surprise for my kiddos in the evenings after a long day of hiking :) it was loaded up with all the streaming apps like Netflix and Disney+.
The home is in a good location very close to Big Bend NP but my ONLY caution would be to drive EXTREMELY slow when you turn off the main road. I don’t think we were going over 10mph and unfortunately our minivan blew a tire as we were pulling up the drive. Thankfully a local man was able to patch the flat but my husband had to drive all the way to Alpine (1hr 15 mins each way) to get a new tire the next day. We lost a half day of our trip. This was to no fault of the owner, just want to caution other renters! It’s not a normal gravel road, there are some very big rocks thrown in the mix. Also—be sure to bring food because there aren’t many restaurants in town. The few we tried were not that great. The lodge restaurant in the National park was very good, though! All in all, I’d highly recommend a stay at Pat O’s Place and we will definitely stay here again if ever in Big Bend. Thanks to the hosts!

Loved the property. It was a very comfortable, well-supplied rental. The drive from the main road was questionable, but the quiet location made up for it. Would love to see a list of restaurants in the area on the table.

The adobe house is a tribute to Pat, who actualized his dream when he built this simple home. Attention has been paid to all the details which make one’s stay effortless. The morning and evening views of the Chisos mountain range, while rocking on the front porch, are the perfect way to begin and end the day. A best Vrbo experience.

Christmas Getaway
We always go to Big Bend in early December to get away from it all and this trip was what we needed. We have stayed at Pat O's in the past and were excited to get back. The home is clean, close access to Terlingua and BBNP, awesome firepit, and wonderful views of the Chisos and Mule Ears. We will be back! The owners have always been awesome to us, thank y'all!

We were impressed with how well equipped the house was; for example kitchen equipment/supplies and lots of blankets. One thing I didn't pick up on before arrival was that heating was accomplished via space heaters - they worked well but unfortunately the noise of them needing to run almost constantly overnight meant we couldn't hear coyotes if there were any. It wouldn't deter me from staying again, as the house was in an excellent location, very clean, and very thoughtfully stocked for travelers. Just think it's helpful to know.

We did not contact the property owner but did not need to. Lovely clean house with great views. We drove to Terlingua for dinner. I would not recommend walking due to some loose dogs on a nearby property and due to coyotes. Great trip. We appreciated the low water usage signs.

This home is great. Beautiful views and the night skies! Wow! The home is comfortable and has everything one needs. The different birds and coyotes sounding off at dusk was just the best! Wonderful firepit and close proximity to the Ghost town. The manager of the property is a great communicator and helpful. Great place to stay!

We spent a week at this wonderful, very clean and comfortable property. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with all paper products, coffee, tin foil, etc so no need to bring your own. The kitchen was great since there are limited local dining options depending on the day/time of year. Great location just off the main road with no close neighbors. The front porch was our favorite AM and PM spot with mountain views all around and stars at night. Excellent communication from property managers who checked in periodically to make sure everything was satisfactory. There is no washing machine unfortunately but there is a clothesline out back.

The place is really cozy. Night time was the best. There are no lights in the area so you can clearly see the stars and if you have the right camera you can take great photos of it. We loved the place overall and hope to return again!
