Meadow View - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
About this cottage rental
Located in Bibury, this lovely cottage for $402 per night is a great choice for your next trip. Meadow View is an immaculately decorated and maintained, bright and airy cottage, with lots of pretty windows affording views on all sides, sweeping across the Williamstrip and Hatherop Estates - acres of meadow, parkland and farmland - and the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln. Step out of the front door and you're straight into miles and miles of walking, including an idyllic 4- or 6-mile route to Bibury (famed for its Arlington Row cottages, possibly the most photographed tourist location in the Cotswolds!), where you can have a bite to eat at The Swan, The Catherine Wheel or in the café at Bibury Trout Farm. If you're staying with littles one, simply cross the road to a safe, secure, and immaculate adventure playground, complete with picnic tables and benches. Then wander downhill to the River Coln, flanked by rolling hills that are home to flocks of sheep and herds of cows - a truly bucolic scene. If you're lucky enough to catch a sunset, it'll be one of the most beautiful you're ever likely to see! Head back up the road to the Coln Community Shop for a cuppa and a slice of some of the tastiest cake in the Cotswolds! At the end of your day exploring the Cotswolds, return to Meadow View and Coln St Aldwyns, far from the madding crowds, with easy parking, peace and quiet, and an immaculate and cosy home-from-home. *Dogs: 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost each. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog and we will then revise your booking confirmation. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking fee. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date. Ground Floor Kitchen: Stepping through the cottage's side door, you'll enter the well-equipped kitchen, overlooking the large back garden, with the tall trees of Williamstrip Park peeking over the drystone wall. Decorated in a classic farmhouse style with oak worktops, French-grey wall tiles and wooden flooring, in here you'll find all you need for a self-catered stay, including an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, integrated fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, and lots of immaculate cupboards with all the crockery and utensils you'll need. Dining Room: The double-aspect, bright and airy dining room has a light-oak dining table to seat 5 comfortably (plus a high chair) and a matching sideboard. Meadow View's dining room is the perfect space to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, light lunch, or special evening supper. Front Hallway: Here you'll find the front door, hooks for coats and hats, a large coir floor mat (ideal for muddy shoes and boots), the entrance into the living room and the staircase (with handrail) leading upstairs. The Living Room: Both cosy and bright, the sitting room has views of the cottage's front and rear gardens. Comfortably seating 4 guests on 2 deep, curvy sofas the room is elegant and welcoming' with William-Morris-style curtains and cushions adding elegance yet maintaining the Cotswold-cottage ambiance. You'll also find a light-oak coffee table, blanket box, BT router, Samsung TV, and dimmable lighting to help create a cosy retreat. W.C: Dual-flush toilet with handbasin. (The cottage's water stop cock and the fuse box are located here). First Floor Well-lit, carpeted staircase with handrail up to… Landing: At the top of the stairs is a light-oak desk positioned so that you can look out over the back garden and Williamstrip Estate as you sit and gaze through the window. You'll find 2 double power points, making this an ideal spot for connecting devices, working on a laptop, reading or relaxing. Bedroom One: Overlooking the front of the house is Bedroom 1, the master bedroom, with its inviting, king-size bed and oak headboard; large, 3-door wardrobe (with plenty of covered hangers); bedside chest of drawers and lamps; full-length mirror; a dressing table (with Remington hairdryer), stool and mirror; dimmable lighting; and space for a baby's travel cot (should you need one). You'll also find a fitted cupboard housing the water heater and immersion tank. The large window, with its wide window sills, provides a beautiful frame for views of Coln St Aldwyns and the valley beyond. Bedroom Two: A pretty, brightly lit twin dual-aspect bedroom with windows providing beautiful views over the cottage's front and rear gardens and out towards the wider Cotswold countryside. This twin room has 2 sink-in single beds, a large oak wardrobe (with covered hangers) and an oak dressing table with stool and mirror. With accents of sunny yellow, this room is a very pretty second bedroom that couples or children will enjoy. Family Bathroom: The cottage's family bathroom sits off the landing, at the rear of the house, next to Bedroom 1, yet still convenient for Bedroom 2. Polished limestone tiling, wood-effect flooring, and a window to the rear (with Venetian-style blind for privacy) create a lovely space to relax in. With a large, walk-in Grohe shower, full-size bath with mixer taps, heated towel rail, dual-flush toilet, and sink with a large mirror, plus a small selection of toiletries, there's everything here you'll need for your stay. Outside Meadow View is framed by a lawn area to its front and a large private garden to its rear, affording it a wonderful feeling of privacy. It's in the back garden where the cottages' magic really comes alive, thanks to the adjoining Williamstrip Park, making the garden feel larger than it is thanks to the adjacent, sweeping countryside views. The cottage has an elevated patio area with a garden table and chairs, making it perfect for al fresco sundowners after a busy day exploring the Cotswolds. (Please note: patio furniture will be placed outside from mid-Spring.) To the side of the cottage is a large Utility Room housing the Hotpoint washer/dryer. This is also the perfect space to securely store walking gear, bicycles or a pushchair.

We had a great stay and I would happily return again to this property in Coln St Aldwyn. Good location, functional and well equipped.

We had a great time at the cottage - our second and would definitely book it again. Why does this review have to be so many letters. Far too long!!

Comfortable, cozy cottage, good value for money.
Not the newest place, but the basics are there and it's comfortable

Our stay was amazing, the village of Coln St Aldwyns is so lovely and the house is close to the shop, the playground and the pub. The house itself is clean, cosy and has everything you might need. Very comfy beds and good sheets. The garden is amazing with views onto the fields. We will definitely be back.

Great location to explore Bibury, Cirencester and Cotswolds Water Park. Located in a quiet, pretty village Meadow 2 has two excellent pubs within walking distance. Would recommend the Sunday roast at The Keepers Inn. Accommodation has everything you need for a short break and was spotlessly clean. Great stay.

The Cottage was comfortable & clean. We felt though to improve the stay : The kitchen needs an oven glove for health & safety when cooking.A few bin bags instead of just 1. The shower needs a shelf to store shower gels etc. Locks on the bathroom door would be best. Fans would be helpful for the warm weather upstairs.Option of sheets instead of heavy duvets would be better in warmer weather also. The second bedroom needs a black out blind or heavier curtains as daylight comes very early in June! A small Welcome Pack would have been nice.

Great for walks, great local pubs.

Lovely, cosy cottage with comfy beds and very warm duvets! We were thrilled for our children that there was a lovely garden and playground opposite. We went to the New Inn for dinner around the corner and bought essentials from the village shop which was a stone’s throw from the house. All very convenient.

We would live at Meadow tomorrow!
A fabulous property where we immediately felt at home . Perfect size for us and with all the mod cons you need to feel absolutely at home as soon as you step over the threshold . Bolthole Retreats we’re very professional , making the whole experience a very pleasant one .
Sad to return from Coln St Aldwyns , an idyllic Cotswolds village with loads to do locally - but don’t tell too many people …
We would hate to do Bolthole Retreats out of work but it’s so nice we would buy the place tomorrow !!
Thank you so much !

Lovely cottage in great location
We had a great week in this lovely cottage. Clean and cosy with very comfy beds. The cottage is in a very pretty village and in an excellent location for exploring the Cotswolds.

Peaceful stay away from the buzz of life!
Property is on edge of village surrounded by fields ... not a sound. Excellent walks and cycles from village. The Keepers Arms in Quenington is just a short walk through fields and serves excellent food, as does the pub in East Leach and the wonderful Gilbertine Kitchen on Poulton estate. This time of year walking through fields of gold to Bibury and beyond is a real treat. House is comfortable, airy and perfectly positioned. An ideal get away from it all.

Family break for a birthday
We really enjoyed our stay. The house is lovely and cosy and has a home away from home appeal. The village is lovely and quiet and was great to sit in the garden overlooking the field. There were just a couple of bits that need looking at they didn't effect our stay but had to find creative soloutions. So the child lock under the sink does not work and this is where the chemicals are stored. The stairgate does not stay closed so had to block them off with chairs. No upstairs child gate. The plug in the bath does not work properly and the water drained out before my 18 month old had finished. The garden on the pictures looked really flat but actually has a steep incline and a cover over the drain in the back garden is needed. But overall thanks for a lovely stay

Wonderful stay at Meadow View 2
We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Meadow View 2. This was our second trip to the Cotswolds and Meadow View is a great base for exploring. We travelled with our two year old so having the play park opposite was an added bonus. The village shop is just a few doors along and the local pub, The New Inn, is just a few minutes walk down the street and serves fantastic food. Plenty of on street parking directly outside the house also. The house itself was very clean, a great size and a fantastic base for exploring the Cotswolds. We will definitely return!

Lovely comfortable cottage, great location
Love the cottage with everything there for our comfort, super views too. It's in a great location with easy access to Bibury, Sudeley Castle, Slimbridge and Cirencester for the Farmers & Craft Markets.
Quality of linen, towels, bedding etc is excellent. The suggested walks were perfect for our 4 day stay.
Just one slight observation is that the oven needed cleaning and oven gloves would have been a helpful addition in the kitchen.

Property description
In the property description it lists parking as an amenity. This suggests the availability of off road parking, but further investigation showed that it is parking "on a very quiet country road. " In fact the road was far from quiet. There were no problems, but I consider it should not be listed as an amenity A point for an electric razor/toothbrush would be useful. A lovely property, though, and a most enjoyable stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have a 20 month old toddler, so the playground across the street was an added bonus. The house was clean, tidy and cosy. The check in and check out process was very easy and the house had everything we needed. We weren’t bothered that it was street parking, as there were always spots directly in front of the property. The location of the property was perfect for hiking, a visit to the local pub, and a short drive to Cirencester. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and family and anyone looking for a relaxing holiday to the Cotswolds.

Lovely house -fell short on promised COVID preparations
I thought the cleaning charge was excessive -there was no hand sanitiser left unlike what it says on your website so we had to buy are own .Also no spare rubbish bags which I think you should have supplied
AApart from that enjoyed staying in lovely house in quiet village
I do not want this review placed on public website

Home from home
2 of us spent time together here for Christmas after a significant loss in the family. This cottage and its location were perfect for us. Cosy cottage with everything we needed in a quiet and beautiful location. Thank you :)

Absolutely stunning!
Loved this beautiful cottage that was well appointed. Stayed for three days in December. It was immaculately clean and super cosy. Will definitely be staying again in the future. Point of note parking is on the road outside the property down a short path.

Cosy little bolthole
We had a wonderful long weekend at this cosy bolthole. Impressions on arrival were great - warm, perfectly clean, just like the photos. Decor and furnishings all good quality with comfy beds, nice towels etc. The location of the cottage was perfect for us with a toddler - right over the road to the playground (which we had to ourselves both times) and only 15 minutes from the Cotswold Wildlife Park.
The snug living room was perfect for evenings in and I imagine the garden would have been gorgeous if we were there in the summer. Really great value property and we would definitely recommend or return again.

A comfortable Cotswold retreat
Meadow View is exactly that. Cows from the neighbouring farm almost joined us for drinks in the garden. A comfortable, clean, well appointed house in a lovely small village with an excellent pub.
2 small irritations occurred without which would have made the stay perfect, the fridge alarm bleeped continuously and though reported did not get fixed & the toilet seats were loose & need tightening.

A great spot for exploring the Cotswolds
We LOVED this property! Easy check-in, plenty of room, good price, free parking, great wifi. Management company very responsive to deal with. Location is wonderful for exploring the many villages of the Cotswolds, and yet away from the larger crowds.

Good location, clean, modern property
Had a great break at this moden, clean property. Had to clean all the cups and cuttlery on arrival as they were dirty. Cups were very tea stained, but a wash fixed it.
There is no oarking at this property and parking is along a narrow lane - not ideal, especially if you have a big car.
This would be the perfect property if it had its own parking.

Great location, very clean
We would return here in a minute. Cozy, bright cottage. Grill, surrounded by estate lands. In a lovely, friendly village.

Beautiful house and location but with no extras
The property and location is beautiful. The house is very clean, except for the oven which was dirty, so obviously we did not use. Strange smell in the kitchen, which appeared to come from the bathroom next door. No tourist information or guidebooks available in the property, other than information about the house, so ensure that you bring them with you, so you know what is available in the surrounding areas.

Meadow View 2
A wonderful weekend stay - cottage clean, warm, light and airy.
Only thing not enough toilet rolls for 4 people and pointless putting 1 tiny shower gel, shampoo and conditioner between 4 people!
