Nice and cozy hostel not far from Yosemite south gate, we found respectful roommates and our stay was really pleasant. Beds are good and clean, same for the two bathrooms. Coffee for early morning hikes and the friendly neighbors' cat are definitely added value!

If you want to visit Yosemite Mariposa grove, this place is good. It takes about 2 hours by car.
The light was broken. There were some switch but couldn’t turn on the light.
For the girls room, there was a light but the room was so hot.

Clean and cozy, comfortable
The bunk beds where a bit flimsy, every time one tosses around the whole thing shakes and wakes up the other one

Incredible hostel with a lot of attention to details.
The hostel is a bit remote but still close enough to Yosemite to make it worthwhile.
The hostel is clean and you get all the information you need from the friendly staff to check yourself in.
Neighbours cat is always happy to get patted.
The bunk beds in the shared space are a bit short for a 1.93m (6′3) person.

Very cute and cosy, great facilities. Even offered fruit, tea, coffee and some necessities. Don’t be out off by the name, it was a fantastic stay.

This is an incredible place to stay. It truly felt like a home away from home. Adorable decor, cozy atmosphere & vibes. Everyone was very friendly and social. Everything was very clean and organized as well. :)
The ONLY thing that could be better is the air conditioning situation. It’s very hot at night - however we opened up a window and it was very comfortable & breezy.

Had the best stay ! Warm & inviting atmosphere, the hosts have created an environment that makes you feel right at home. Just a 40min drive from Yosmite south entrance if you're planing on heading out there

Without exaggerating, I just loved this hostel. It's really cozy.
They did a really good job decorating and designing the common areas and the kitchen was fully equipped, with oven and all!
There's a fireplace, a barbecue and a lovely cat who likes to say hi.
The rooms and bathrooms are clean.
Still a 2 hour drive from Yosemite though!
The beds are quite hard and the hostel itself a bit noisy, but with earplugs its fine.

A FABULOUS hostel! Thank you Kim and Heather (the owners) for a fantastic week in your lovely home. Jackass is an ideal Hostel for friends and solo travellers who want to see Yosemite and have a relaxed place to stay in! I stayed here with my brother for a week and we had a blast. It's a very relaxed affair (you check in yourself), beautifully done out (see the pictures!) and the layout is open plan... so as a result get to meet your fellow hostel mates every evening. Pretty cool/unique! The owners are lovely people, have travelled a lot themselves, and Jackass just has a lovely vibe to it. Highly recommended and we will be back! Thank you Kim and Heather for creating a wonderful home :-)

Honestly the best hostel I had for a while. You feel that it is build and maintained with love. I instantly felt home, its got a great, warm atmosphere. Its a mix of modern and old interior, so many details and it plays perfectly together.
It was absolutely clean, everything worked, the equipment provided everything you could wish and there was even a late check-in possible (which helped me a lot).
The owner are super kind, helped me with hiking advices and asked if everythings all right when I arrived much later than planned.
The other guests where kind and cool, we had a great time and I left with so many good memories.
I will definitely come back.
Thanks K&H for everything!

During the day it was stuffy upstairs.

Well equiped kitchen, super clean bathrooms - very appraciated.
A lot of social-network games, many tables in the kitchen, Option for barbecue. Welcome card was very sweet. :) Makes you feel like at home/parents cabin.
The garden and surrounding might be better maintained.
My bed was a creaky one :) but it was ok.

The host was really thoughtful and made sure we were comfortable with our check in (late check in). The kitchen was great and had a lot of stuff that we could use for our cooking. The bathrooms are all new and nice.
The room was definitely not clean. There was a big spider web on my nightstand and lady underpants under the bed (that never happened to me before). There was a lot of dust under the bed and under the drawer (a basic vacuuming before we checked in would have done the trick). Hopefully this was just a one time thing and the host will take measures for it not to happen again.

The hostel is the best option when travelling with friends to Yosemity. Location is great to explore the park, lodging super comfortable (beds superb!) and the kitchen has all the amenities for cooking. Coffee and tea available all the times. In the morning you can make a breakfast, pancake mix is ready :) Scott is an absolutely great host! Dinner was served when we arrived and had a bonfire together. We will be back for sure!
One bathroom is indeed not enough for the entire hostel. At least separate toilet and sinks would be great to have....

It was a fab location, cozy layout but mostly the staff. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome at check in and provided free pancake mix for breakfast and we were even lucky enough to have had dinner one night too, which was a really lovely way to get to know the other people in the hostel and the bonfire in th garden made it even more lovely.
There is literally nothing to dislike.
