Situated in Colonial Beach, this attractive cottage for $217 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. From the front porch of the Sunrise Cottage enjoy a 180 degree view of the Potomac River while rocking your cares away! Watch the sun rise between your toes from the larger bedroom's french doors. Sit inside in a sun-filled front room with large windows in gliding chairs or in the afternoon or evening on a comfy sofa and basket chairs in the back family room. With a good-sized kitchen and two bedrooms, this cottage is a perfect place to stay for two couples. You'll love it's cheery beachy decor and some original features (hardwood floor, paneled doors, metal kitchen cabinets). The Potomac River, which is 4 miles wide at this location, can be viewed inside through large windows or outside from the front porch or from a glider at the river's edge. During your relaxing stay at our cottage, wake up to sunrise over the river and then enjoy your morning coffee on the front porch as you watch ospreys, eagles and cormorants fish for their breakfast. Then hop on a bike* and take an easy, scenic 3-mile ride along the river and bayside. Or jump in your rented golf cart to tool into town to a quaint shop or family-run restaurant -- no chain stores here! A 10-minute walk or a 2-minute bike ride will bring you into town to the public beach, town fishing pier, visitor's center, marina or museum. Nearby wineries, historic sites and parks provide opportunities for other daytime activities. Nighttime activities range from star-gazing and boardwalk strolling to beer sampling with live music at two in-town breweries, tiki bar hopping and casino gambling at The Riverboat. Our posted base rate is for two people. We charge $15 per night for each additional guest (over two) because often the bookings are for only two. Beautiful cabin along the Potomac river was very clean and packed full of amenities. John was great with suggestions that matched our interests. The location was great it's a short drive to everything. The neighborhood was quiet and we had beautiful sunrises every morning. This will definitely be one of our more memorable vacations. Thank you John and Susan for sharing your wonderful cabin.

Great little cottage with an awesome view of the sunrise as described. A little over a mile walk down to the beach and tiki bar. We were happy to have a second bedroom just to store all of our tubs and over flow of things that we packed. Took a drive to George Washington’s birthplace and found the Ingleside Winery on the way back. Highly recommend, beautiful relaxing winery. After a long day, we relaxed on the rocking chairs on the porch, definitely a bonus. Thank you to John and Susan for a very relaxing, enjoyable few days.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay! Fabulous river view from the front porch! We even saw dolphins! The house is exactly how it is advertised and is very well-stocked! John is easy to get ahold of and responds promptly to any calls!

Cute little house right on the Potomac. Well stocked and comfortable. The hosts were quite involved - there was a phone call or two when the booking was completed... you call them before getting there and they meet you at the house with the key, and also might drive by a few times... We didn't really mind it but for anyone who prefers not to deal with the hosts directly it might be a little much.

John was an amazing host who accommodated every need and seemingly would do more if needed. Amazing view, definitely would come again had a great experience with my girlfriend great for those who just to get away for a weekend.

This cute cottage had everything we needed for our long weekend getaway. John greeted us upon our arrival, gave a quick tour of the house and an introduction to the area. The back living room had a comfy couch and Roku set up for TV viewing. The front sunroom and porch provided great views of the river. It was too cold to ride bikes, but the neighborhood is very walkable. Will definitely consider returning to this little gem.

We had a very relaxing stay at the Sunrise Cottage! It was exactly what we were looking for - quiet neighborhood on the water with easy access to the town. Spent a lot of time on the front porch enjoying the sunrise and sunset over the water. Extremely easy checkin process and John was very communicative with us throughout our whole stay. Highly recommend a stay at this property!

SUNRISE COTTAGE is a perfect cottage to de-stress, relax, and enjoy time with family. (never once did we turn on the TV – we can do that at home; I even got in some reading which is hard to do in the hustle and bustle of everyday life). We loved our week (went by much too fast) at this restored fisherman’s cottage. My Mother, who is 87, enjoyed her vacation; she loved the cottage as well. My oldest daughter (who was able to spend a couple of days with us) said it was a wonderful cottage in a great location (we spent each evening walking on the road along the river). We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the front porch talking and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the river. Sunrise Cottage is quaint and cozy and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
John and Susie are wonderful hosts. They both are very friendly and accommodating. John checked on us several times to make sure everything was okay and to see if we needed anything. John also recommended several nice places to eat at Colonial Beach and the best place to watch the gorgeous sunsets on Monroe Bay. Susie who stopped by with John is a very endearing person; she has done a great job in decorating the cottage. The rocking chairs and throws add a special charm to the cottage. The front living room and the sitting area in the master bedroom have awesome window views of the river. The sunrises on the Potomac were beautiful (enjoyed watching them in the quiet of the morning with a cup of coffee from the front porch and on the bench directly in front of the cottage).
A golf cart is a must to thoroughly enjoy the community. We spent time each day riding the streets of Colonial Beach and discovering the little shops 😊. This was a perfect vacation in everyway!
We look forward to returning to this charming cottage in the very near future. Thanks John and Susie for everything – it was hard to leave; my Mom said to thank Susie for the hat (it meant a lot to her to receive such a thoughtful gift) 😊- you guys are the greatest!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here, and we couldn’t be happier with our stay! We parent 2 young daughters and are on the go 24/7. Colonial Beach was such a perfect spot for us with the beautiful water (The jellyfish are THICK, I wore a set of my husband’s swim shorts over my suit when I got in the water to minimize skin contact.) and so many delicious restaurants to choose from (our favorites were Dockside-the tuna tacos and crab were AMAZING-and OomBoon-loooovved the sushi!).
Sunrise Cottage had everything we needed to stay comfortably and I felt like a guest in a friend’s home. The porch is so inviting with a gentle breeze that keeps you cool on even a hot August day. My husband and I mostly enjoyed the provision of bicycles. Once we arrived, we parked the car and didn’t get back in until we checked out. Everything we wanted was walking or riding distance away. We’d love to come back. (I will say, we will not be bringing our young children here because their are lots of breakable decorations!)

Rustic Beach house
We had a nice quiet stay here at Colonial Beach. The house is minutes from the beach (driving) and we had no problems finding parking just yards from the water. We appreciated the sun umbrellas and chairs. Great AC, huge fridge, and basic condiments- thanks! I think it's time to replace the mattresses and perhaps the sofa in the sitting room-- both were uncomfortable but John is responsive to these comments!

Overall okay but the property definitely needs some updating. The grass was not mowed and there is a bunch of junk in the back yard including an old car. The house was clean but hold an old house smell. The view from the front porch is breath taking!

Lovely beach house, perfect beach town
We really enjoyed our stay at Sunrise Cottage. My husband and I came with our daughters, 3 and 5, and the house worked really well for our week at the beach. A note for families with young children, the house has a lot of low down, potentially breakable decorations, and I would not recommend the house for super rambunctious or very young children. But our girls did very well, and really loved the house and the beach.
The house itself has two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Only the master bathroom has a tub, so if you need to bathe young children, this is probably the bathroom you'll use for that unless they are old enough to take a shower in the shower stall in the hall bathroom. The master bedroom itself is very spacious, which was great because we had room for all of the luggage in the master bedroom. The second bedroom is small, but a lot darker than the master, which was ideal for nap time. The kitchen is small with not much counter space and no dishwasher. This is not a complaint, just a fact if you're planning on doing cooking and dishes for a family, which we did most of the week. The fridge is large, at least compared to my small home fridge, so there's plenty of room there. You honestly cannot beat the incredible views right out of the front door! This is about the only street in the town that's right beside the water, as most of the waterside areas are private.
The owner John called me the day I made my reservation, and we had excellent communication before our stay, during our stay when he graciously came to rescue us quickly when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house, and he went above and beyond even after our stay when we realized we accidentally left something behind.
We used our vehicle most of the week to go down to the beach, but decided to rent a golf cart for the last two days. It was worth it! The golf cart was great to go down to the beach, or just touring around town, or a quick stop to pick up some food. For families with kids, there are several playgrounds in town that our girls really enjoyed, and we found the best spot on the beach itself. On the very end of the official "Colonial Beach" as far as you can go before the beach ends and the private piers begin, there is a large Sweet Gum tree that provides shade all day long. We camped out here and enjoyed the gentle waves, sandy beach, and just barely salty water of the Potomac. This is a fantastic beach for young children, and we will definitely be back.

Great location, could use a little updating.
The location and views were great. The area is super quiet. The house was nicely decorated and has lots of dvds and games available. The cottage is older and is dated, and is in need of some repairs. It could definitely could use an update, we were afraid to touch the paper blinds as we did not want them to fall off. We did not have any big issues and made due with what we had to work with. We rented a golf cart which is a must for that area. Overall we were happy with the stay and made some great memories.

The Colonial cottage was perfect for a relaxing getaway. There was a lot to see and do locally. We also enjoyed a day trip to DC. John was very welcoming and helpful. We look forward to a return visit!

John is a great host and we enjoyed our stay!! The view from the front porch and front room and master bedroom is so beautiful!! We could sit and just stare out all day! Walks were lovely from the cottage and it was a comfortable stay! We loved our time there!!

Perfect Getaway
The cozy beach cottage is literally right on the waterfront and waking up to the sunrise was Heavenly. The numerous amenities were greatly appreciated. Every detail was perfect, and I will be back :)
