Great cottage amongst a beautiful garden

The property and gardens are absolutely fantastic. The cottage was warm and cosy and had everything that you could need for a short stay. The owners were friendly and were happy to provide any information and contacted us with all the necessary information at the time of the booking. The location at the base of Mt Hotham was great for what we intended to do but also provides an alternative to Bright, which can be overly busy, as it still has cafes, bakery, pubs for meals etc.

Summer paradise in peaceful Harrietville garden cottage

Delightful, secluded little cottage in a stunning garden and bush setting. The only real noise was bird calls and the burbling of the nearby river! The owners were welcoming and helpful, showing me to my cottage, which was tucked away at the end of a private driveway. That cottage's kitchen is modest - just a two-hotplate unit, a sink, a microwave and a bar fridge - but the bedroom, bathroom and living areas were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning were very welcome in the hot summer afternoons. Easy access to a laundry. Nothing nicer than relaxing on the private balcony, watching the birds at the bird feeder. It was only a five-minute walk along the private driveway back to the main road. I will definitely stay here again!

It was all very good but I was surprised to find no grater or wooden spoon in the kitchen drawers. Lots of BBQ equipment but nothing as humble as a wooden stirring spoon.

Lush private alpine oasis

Set in a beautiful, private, quiet location, an easy walk to local amenities including coffee van, cafe/bakery, local pubs, swimming (dredge) hole and walks. Comfortable beds, well set up kitchen, gas weber BBQ on the deck, friendly helpful owner who was responsive to requests for assistance including a request to fill the wood box and advice on using cottage facilities.

Peaceful stay in a gorgeous landscape

Beautiful location and wonderful cottage- cosy, with all the features to make a relaxing and practical stay. Harrietville is gorgeous and definitely the better option than Bright to escape the holiday crowds. Shady Brook cottages are set in the most picturesque landscape and instantly you begin to unwind as you drive into the property. The kitchen allowed us to self cater and the wood fire kept everyone warm as the nights became chilly. Definitely worth a stay in autumn - the colourful leaves, clear water and fresh air help connect you to nature.

Getting back to nature.at Shady Cottages.

Great cabin with modern fittings. Lovely weekend stay. So many local businesses for food. Great local walks. As it was Autumn not so sunny but the gardens were still attractive.

Husband was bitten by a wasp near the river.

The chalet and gardens were a perfect rest amid the mountains.

The grounds are secluded but near to town, the chalet was spacious and nicely furnished. The garden is beautiful!

Very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting, with great hosts.

We loved our stay at shady brook cottages. The cottage had everything we needed, it was very clean and in excellent order. The gardens are breathtaking. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful quite place in between the mountains. Everything about this one place was awesome. John is a wonderful host. He helped us whenever we wanted, even late night. 100% recommended
