The town is especially famous for its traditional herring-smoking plant, 'Hasle Silderøgeri' which functions as a working museum. Here, fish are smoked in the traditional method in open chimneys, meaning you can enjoy a meal of warm, freshly smoked herring while enjoying the most beautiful of sea views. Also in Hasle, you can visit Grønbechs Gård, a former merchant's house that is now home to the island's largest collection of art and crafts, as well as a working glass workshop. Both Hasle and Rønne, which is situated just 10 minutes' drive from the Rubinsø woodland homes, offer good shopping opportunities and numerous restaurants, cafes, galleries and museums.
