This property should never be marketed as 2 for the price of one – it is not. What it is, is a very comfortable, luxurious apartment with a bedsit and decking on the roof. As such, I would only recommend the apartment if you are happy to hike up nearly 100 stairs which does mean that it is a disincentive to pop out as it is such a mission to get back. There is a marked lack of cutlery, china and glasses– only six of every thing to share between the two lets and even fewer glasses and wine glasses. It should be noted that there is no English speaking programme available on the TV. The bedsit is just that. Another two flights of stairs up, it is quite spartan and about 10ft x 12ft. The bed is 4ft 6in. The bathroom, which has very poor water pressure, is outside on one of the three rooftop decks so you must go outside to use the facilities at night. The wall of this veranda is not safe for children as it is too low. The views are good but in fact we found the sun was too hot to be sitting outside after 9am and before 5pm. The outside furniture would be better in a skip and replaced. The bed sit got much hotter than the apartment and the air con needed to be left on all the time. We were two couples in our sixties booked in for 10nights and we were expecting comparable living accommodation to share. In fact, as already pointed out, one couple had very good living whilst the other had to put up with very poor living. As such, we decided to change over after 5nights. This seemed the fairest if inconvenient way to handle it. We found the information book to be out of date with the wrong telephone numbers given for the agency. When we asked if the agent would visit us, she refused. We had the impression that the apartment was poorly serviced. We had to get 7 light bulbs replaced, as they didn’t work. On the plus side: The air con was excellent. The internet was excellent. The location in Valletta was also excellent. In conclusion: Only the lower apartment is worth living in and that is really for two people. There is a sofa bed but then a second couple would be sleeping in the lounge and the apartment is open plan. As such it is not worth the price. The top bed sit would be suitable for one or two students.

Our group included me, my husband, two children (1.5 and 3), my parents and my sister. We had an amazing time in Malta and would love to come back, and I would certainly stay here again. We had no problems with the cleanliness or the conditions of the beds - we found them quite comfortable. Veronika booked taxis to both pick us up from the airport, as well as from the apartment when it was time to leave. They also included car safety seats for our children which was much appreciated. The apartment was wonderful and had plenty of space - my husband and I slept in the master bedroom with our son and my sister slept on the couch in the living room, and there was a playpen for our younger son as well. My parents had the rooftop apartment. We felt we had plenty of space and felt very at home. The rooftop views are absolutely stunning and we enjoyed many a sunset/sunrise. The location was fantastic - we felt we were in the heart of the city, and especially enjoyed going to Bert's Take Aways and the various pastizzieras nearby. We enjoyed listening to the ringing of church bells and the yelling of children and other residents as they went about their day. It was very easy to get around - we walked to many of our destinations in Valletta on Merchant/Republic streets, as well as to the main bus depot to take buses all over Malta. A few caveats: 1)As others have mentioned, the apartment is two separate units at the top of a building. Lots of stairs! But it was good practice for all the walking we did around Malta. We also found that the separate units gave us a bit of privacy. 2)There are no doors in the unit (aside from the bathroom door) - the bedroom is only blocked off by a curtain, which made things like putting our kids to bed difficult. 3)For those with children: The marble floors got very slick, especially for little feet. I also didn't allow our children near the balconies or on the rooftop terrace, as the railings aren't a very imposing barrier and would be very easy to slip through. 4)There is a washer but no dryer, and no microwave. The shower in the first unit is also not a separate part of the bathroom, meaning if somebody is showering, nobody else can go in. I've seen this before, but for somebody not used to it it can be a bit of a shock. I also would have liked a clock somewhere. 5)There were a LOT of mosquitoes and our kids were covered in bites after the first night. Bring insect repellent and bite medicine.

We were two couples in our early sixties that stayed a week. Overall, we can absolutely recommend this apartment to others. We had, however, not realized that the two parts (apartment and studio) were not connected except through the stairway common to all residents in the building. This was not really a problem but it is something one ought to know beforehand. One aspect of this is that sharing it all in an equitable manner is difficult. The apartment is large and nearly luxurious, while the studio is entirely adequate but small. On the other hand, the occupants of the studio are richly compensated by the immediate access to patios and balconies on top of the building; the view is simply stunning. This place had everything we needed plus a bit of luxury. Being interested in cooking we did, however, find the kitchen utensils sufficient at best. More glasses, plates and cutlery would be in order. Nevertheless, the place can be recommended warmly .
