About this villa rental
Nestled in Umbria, this lovely villa for $1,134 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. This manor is part of a big family property of approx. 300 hectares with oak tree woods, sunflower fields and gently rolling hills. It lies 16 km southern of Todi, 70 kms from Perugia (airport), 110 kms northern of Rome and 4 kms from village. It's a very quiet location and ensures 100% privacy seen there aren't other buildings nearby. The whole property is for your private/exclusive use (not shared with other holidaymakers or owner). The manor has over 100 years of history within its walls, the 420 square metre manor has been carefully restored in an elegant and tasteful way. On the property there are the main building (7 bedrooms, living/dining rooms, semi-professional kitchen, 80 square meter porch to eat outdoor), the tower (2 bedrooms, kitchen, dining/living room), a 13 by 5 meter pool, barbecue and stone near the pool area, hall for events at 20 meters from the pool. Renovated with antique furniture created by the craftsmen of Todi, it big stone walls of around 80cm ensures that the rooms are never to warm (we just advice to not hold open the windows during the day, there are fans available). The big porch of the main building is equipped with tables and chairs to eat outdoor for 25 persons. The large living room has 16 sofa seats and the dining area has two oval tables (each for 12 persons). On request it is possible to have cook and maid service. The property is suitable for up to 25 adults + babies. There are 19 bed places (9 bedrooms) and 3 double sofa beds. Two baby cots and highchairs also available. The main building and the tower have both a bedroom/bathroom suitable for wheelchair users. The pool is 13 by 5 meter + roman stairs, the depth goe from 1,20 to 1,80 meter. Restaurant/Pizzeria and supermarket 1 km far away, there are more supermarkets, shops and restaurant at 5 kms. Big supermarkets (also open on Sunday) are available at 20 kms in the city of Terni. It's possible to purchase directly from the owner olive oil and wine. Weekly open market on Monday (in the centre of the village of Montecastrilli). The speedway exit is 12 kms far away. 3 km away it is possible to visit an extremely rare example of fossil forest. If interested it's possible to have a cook for a lunch/dinner directly at the villa. Bedroom with double bed and bathroom suitable for wheelchair users. As others have said, even more lovely than photos. We were 8 couples aged 23-77 for a week with room for more. A real advantage is the en suite bathroom situation, albeit some bathrooms and showers roomier than others. Highlight is outdoor dining patio where we took all meals given the mild September weather. Chef cooked two yummy dinners for us. Also glad we ordered villa owner’s olive oil and red wine.
Short drive to major Umbrian sights. However, we recommend you go for lunch in nearby Sangemini for better Italian restaurants and atmosphere. Be sure you’ve well understood directions to villa since GPS misguided couple of us.

We held our wedding at Il poggio and it was beyond perfect! We couldn’t have asked for a better host or a better location. Everything exceeded our expectations and Guido and Orietta made the experience much better! Communication was easy and check in and out was smooth!

Like previous reviews stated, the photos online do not do this house justice.
The house was big enough so no one felt cramped.
The pool was refreshing, the olive trees and garden herbs made wonderful centerpieces.
Orieta is THE gem of this place!
I hired her to cook 5 meals for us and was blown away by how good the food was, how much food there was and such a low cost, it's the best deal.
After a day of sightseeing, you come home, have a glass of wine, enjoy the sunset and voila dinner is on the table. No need to go shopping or think about what to make.
Orieta and her assistant clean up as well, this truly made the trip that much better.
I can't recommend this house enough.
Guido is always super fast with his response and helped me arrange a car service to a winery and to the airport among other things.
The house is not near any particular big town, Terni is about 15 mins away, Todi is 45 mins, Assisi, Deruta and Orvieto are all about an hour, so rent a car and enjoy the beautiful Umbrian countryside!

Over the last 40 years or more we have travelled to Italy to see family and more often or not we would book a villa for 10 to 20+ people, this year after been cancelled for two years, 21 one of us had our holiday, what a wonderful restful week, made so much better by a great villa and pool, every bedroom was big enough, each had its own bathroom, the eating area outside was wonderful for our evening suppers, we got the staff to cook a meal on 3 different nights, one was a 4 course, one was two courses and the 3rd was home made pizza made in there own outside oven, the whole week was great for everyone from age 1 to 81, the pool was very clean and cleaned everyday, i would recommend this villa for ant big groups to enjoy jim

We were a group of 17 friends staying here over the course of a week. It is an extraordinary property in a incredible location. Huge grounds, wonderful rooms full of character and each with their own bathrooms: great facilities. Also beautiful big communal spaces plus plenty of nooks and cozy spots or space to be alone. Pool is large and lovely. All overseen by a magnificent Oak tree which is the heart of the place. Difficult to fault anything. Orietta who oversees the place was always minutes away and super professional and responsive. We will definitely be back.

Amazing stay in a beautiful villa!
Just came back from a brilliant stay at this villa. We were a group of 19 (aged 25) and had a fantastic time - the villa was even better than the photos and the pool area was amazing with enough sunbeds for all of us. We had the chefs cook us 3 course meals for 2 of the nights which was delicious, easy and great value for money. The villa is a short drive away from a great pizza place and a small supermarket (which sold everything we needed), however there wasn't much within walking distance - although we didn't really want to walk anywhere in the heat! Orietta and team cleaned the pool every morning which was great, especially after a storm on one day! One thing to note is that there is no aircon, meaning in some rooms it can get quite hot at night, but closing all the shutters in the day helped keep the rooms cooler. We all had the best time - Thanks Guido and Orietta! :)

Wonderful place on top of a hill with 360 view. We were 14 adults and 7 kids and had plenty of space. It’s a perfect place to just relax with your family and friends, chill in the garden and by the pool and cook something good (kitchen is very well furnished)

Die Lage und Anordnung der Gebäude ist wie aus einem Bilderbuch entsprungen. Am Hügel, am Ende einer Zypressen-Allee und von Weinreben umgeben. Mit Aussicht auf die umbrische Hügellandschaft und in der Nähe von interessanten Ausflugszielen.
Die Infrastruktur ist in sehr gutem Zustand und der Service der Gastgeber ist top. Wir kommen wieder! 🙂

Wie waren eine Gruppe von 26 Personen und alle waren extrem begeistert! Kinder und Erwachsene! Selten erlebt man ein so liebevoll und perfekt gestaltetes Haus, vor allem in dieser Größe! Stilvoll, funktionell und bis in jedes Detail perfekt durchdacht und gestaltet. Lage und Umgebung sind such sehr besonders. Definitiv eine Empfehlung.

Super semaine de vacance. La maison magnifique est idéalement dimensionnée pour nos 5 familles, surtout avec la tour qui a permis aux adolescents d'avoir une certaine indépendance.
Dommage que l'eau de la piscine ait tournée mais cela ne nous a pas empeché de nous baigner chaque jour.

She also passed by several times to see if everything was ok. The bedrooms were all spacious and included their own bathroom. The beds were good, with also a set of towels for each bed, and everything was clean. We did not spend much time inside because of the good weather, but the main area is very spacious too with a few large dinner tables and quite a few comfortable sofas. Also, the WiFi was fast and stable most of the time.
The covered terrace with its enormous dinner table (room for >25 people) was perfect. We were with a group of 21 adults and there was plenty of space for all of us. The view all around the villa was fantastic.
The kitchen was also very good, with a professional dishwasher, a big double sink, an excellent six burner gas stove with a large oven. Also there were more than enough dishes, cups, glasses and cutlery.
And then of course the swimming pool: it was fantastic. We went to several villas in Umbria, but this was the first one with enough pool chairs for everyone of us. The pool was clean (someone came to clean it daily) and perfect to just float around or for some more active swimming. Again, the view here was awesome.
There is so much more to tell about, such as the separate building with table football and a ping pong table, the great outdoor kitchen for both barbecue and pizza baking, and the beautiful, huge tree that was illuminated in the evenings...
If you are looking for a truly fantastic villa in Umbria, this is the one!
