Situated in Marrakesh, this attractive riad for $183 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. Make the most of your vacation without worrying about shopping or cleaning! Dar al Mandar, is located in the Medina of Marrakech. Typical neighborhood, change of scenery guaranteed. Taxi station, guarded parking, bus nearby. The price indicated is for 6 people maximum, including children, the whole house and for a week with a minimum of 3 nights. Dar al Mandar has 3 bedrooms with shower rooms, ideal for a large or two small families or 3 couples. Possibility of adding a baby bed at no extra charge. Cleaning is included. Zakia, takes care of shopping and cooking, she is on site during the day. She is employed by us year-round. Its services are included in the rental price. (Only at your expense the shopping money that must be given day by day). At the end of the stay, a tip is welcome. (It is even a rule in Morocco). She cooks wonderfully the products she bought specially for you (Moroccan gastronomy) and speaks French. When you have tasted its cuisine, you no longer want to go to a restaurant. Price of homemade meals according to the market, no freezing: To be paid on site: 9 euros (100 dirhams) per day and per person with half board = breakfast (35 dirhams) and dinner (65 dirhams). If you only want breakfast: (35 dirhams / day and / person) If you do not want to eat all meals at home, this is also possible. You will be met at the airport with a sign bearing your name, this one-way transfer: airport-house is included in the rental price. This house has just been completely redone. The bedding and equipment are new. The team has extensive experience in this area with the same concept for another house located in the same district. The peculiarity of this house lies in the fact that the owners have chosen to highlight the crafts and the know-how of local artisans. Even if, by its surface, dar al Mandar is far from being a palace (capacity 6 people), the decoration and the artisanal techniques chosen for this house are those which usually appear in the traditional houses of Marrakech. Sheets, towels are provided. Mostapha, the manager is at your disposal, on site he can provide you with wonderful advice. We give priority to families with or without children, retirees and people who respect the codes of the Medina neighborhood and our staff. The best part of Dar Al Mandar are the people who take care of you when you stay there: Mostapha, the host, and Wafa, the cook. They make your stay easy, tasty, enjoyable and enlightened. We felt so lucky to have landed in a lovely home with Moroccans who helped us learn our way around the city, the culture, its traditions and its food.
We had enough room to host friends and family who joined us, and the house was in a quiet neighborhood, protected from the noise of the medina. (Other reviewers have commented on its distance from the souks and the center square, but we loved that distance, and the daily exercise to get where we wanted to go.) Though we spent time traveling around the country, we loved the city — its bustle, its tastes, its quirks and its personality. Marrakech is forever in our hearts, thanks to our fine stay.

I don’t think we could have found a better place to stay during our visit, than this Riad. The riad, itself is spacious with 3 separate bedrooms, each with their own shower/bath, and beautiful with hand-crafted artistry throughout. Each room provides its own air conditioning unit which was very much appreciated in the hottest of the summer months. The patio upstairs (be ready for lots of stairs) is the perfect place to relax whether in a lounge chair or in the jacuzzi.
The location is perfectly centered within the walls of the Old Medina, making it within walking distance of the souls and all the biggest tourist spots.
The best part, that made our stay so memorable, was Mostapha and Wafa. Mostapha, the host, is an endless wealth of information and is always more than willing to help answer questions, provide suggestions, or even share about his culture and country. Wafa, the chef and housekeeper, is an absolute GEM. Every single meal she prepared for us was divine and an absolute feast to remember. I don’t think there was a better way for us to have gotten a true taste of traditional Moroccan food. Five stars, all around!

What a fantastic experience. Mostapha greeted us on arrival and visited us every day to discuss excursions, places of interest, idea's for where to go in the city, organised reliable taxi's and it was an absolute pleasure to se him. He even tried to teach us some local dialect.... Wafa cooked the most amazing food for us daily (breakfast and dinner), and we all became very close by the time we had to return home. Her food was spectacular every day. I cannot recommend the property, people, support and service highly enough. What wonderful people and a beautiful Riad. We will never forget it.

Relaxing Vacation
This beautiful riad is exactly as lovely as it appears in the pictures. It is tastefully decorated, spacious, clean, and welcoming. The kitchen is on the first level, and has everything you need to make yourself at home and make all your meals - though really, you should do yourself a favor and allow Khadijah to cook for you! We asked her to make all of our meals, and they were nothing short of exceptional. One small note here - all of our dinners were served later than we had requested, but in fairness to the host, we did request them much earlier than meals are typically prepared at the riad. Regardless of the timing, we were always delighted to Khadijah presenting the food. We took breakfast and dinner every day, and I did not for a moment regret that decision. The cooking was among the best we have ever had.
Back to the riad - two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, which gets an amazing amount of natural light. With all the windows open, there is no need for electric lights until the sun goes down. The owner has also placed very nice shutters and glass in the windows, so that light is completely blocked out at night and that sound is muffled pretty well. If you are a light sleeper, I would still recommend bringing earplugs, but everyone else will sleep soundly with no extra hearing protection. Each bedroom has a bathroom attached, with an abundant supply of hot water. The whole place was sparkling clean and just beautiful.
The bedroom on the top floor has two twin beds, and also an attached bathroom. It is across from the rooftop, which is well-equipped with a table and... a hot tub!!!! We had a wonderful time wandering through the city during the day, coming back to shower and relax in the hot tub, followed by a delicious meal prepared downstairs. The temperature in the riad was very comfortable; we used the heater once or twice in the downstairs dining area and it did a wonderful job of heating the area, but aside from that, we were happy to keep the heaters off. There are heaters/AC units in every bedroom, and I think that the house would be very comfortable year-round.
The house is not in an especially touristy area, which we greatly appreciated as it gave us a chance to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city at the end of the day. It was also quieter than an area closer to the Jmaa-Al-Fnaa would have been, but was walking distance to the souks. Overall, I would highly recommend staying here!

Maison louée pour quelques jours en famille (adaptée aux jeunes enfants, notamment grâce au matériel gentiment fourni par les hôtes, mais attention aux escaliers).
Excellent accueil de la part de Mostapha et de Zakiya (dont la cuisine est exquise et qui a tout fait pour nous rendre le séjour agréable).
Beaucoup d'informations utiles données en amont par le propriétaire.
A noter que la maison est dans un quartier populaire et authentique de la ville, mais un peu excentré (compter 15-20 minutes à pied pour rejoindre les sites les plus proches, retour facile en taxi en moins de 10 minutes depuis la mosquée Koutoubia). Terrasse agréable avec une jolie vue sur les toits de la ville.
Dans l'ensemble un très beau séjour et un lieu à recommander!

We stayed for 3 nights at Dar al Mandar last month and had a very nice experience. Zakia was very friendly and cooked excellent food. Mostapha helped us with other logistics. The bedrooms and bathrooms were neat and clean. This place is right in the medina and very close to Majorelle garden. Make sure to have google maps handy to navigating through the medina streets. The only negative we had was some kids made noise during the night time in the area that kept us up until a little late. But overall the stay was pretty enjoyable.

Nous avons passé des moments inoubliables dans cette ville . La maison est très agréable dans un quartier authentique. Un grand merci à Zakia pour ses plats qui étaient une vraie surprise tous les jours, pour sa gentillesse, sa bonne humeur, c'est un vrai bonheur.

Adorámos estar nesta casa em Marrakech! Estar dentro da Medina foi uma experiência girissima, a casa é muitíssimo segura e a Zakia fez-nos comidas deliciosas. Levámos os nossos filhos, com 10 anos e um bebé, e as condições para os ter foram muito melhores do que esperávamos. Conseguimos mesmo passear em todas as ruelas e mercados com o bebé.

Perfect place for our small group!
We had a small group of 4 adults on our vacation to Marrakech and this riad was perfect. Not only the size and location, but Mostapha and Zakia are the what makes this place so special. Mostapha was more than helpful by taking care of the little to things for our stay. For example, we went to a hammam and he booked for us, and went and made our payment up front so we did not have to take an extra trip to that location. He suggested sights and stops to see while we were exploring and tips on how to bargain and where to buy/price things (like rugs). Mostapha goes above and beyond what we expected, and we were so appreciative. Zakia is the other leg of the dream team. She prepares breakfast and dinner, and she did not disappoint. I cannot say enough about the food. It was better than anything we ventured out for, and it was more affordable. We cannot say enough about our stay. The home was perfect size and the rooftop terrace was a perfect place to start and end our days. The area is surprisingly quiet at night as well.
The owner, Phillippe, was very communicative beforehand which was helpful. He gave us tips about arriving in Marrakech, specifics for customs, and money exchange/ATM information. He was prompt when I had questions, and that always helps me when I am traveling to a new place.

Schönes traditionelles Riad und perfekter Service
Wir (Familie mit 3 Teens) verbrachten eine Woche im Riad am nördlichen Rand der Medina, 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Jardin Majorelle entfernt, ca 15-20 Minuten zum Place el Djemma. Die Ausstattung des Hauses entspricht der Beschreibung auf der Webseite. Das Haus ist ohne Hilfe am Anfang kaum zu finden, da es keine Hausnummer hat und die Strasse 2x in Marrakech existiert. Hausnummern sind auch nicht fortlaufend, da einige Rohbauten mitgezählt werden müssten. Unser ortskundiger Stadtführer hatte Probleme das Riad zu Beginn unserer Stadtführung zu finden. Den Weg zum Riad bzw in die Stadt findet man aber relativ schnell sehr gut, insbesondere mit der kostenlosen (4 Karten), offline funktionierenden App OsmAndMaps App. Die Abholung am Flughafen durch Mostapha klappte wunderbar. Bei Fragen war er stets über WhatsApp sehr schnell erreichbar, sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und spricht Französich und Englisch. Zakia‘s Tajinen schmeckten besser als in den meisten Restos, die wir besucht hatten. Unseren Menüwunsch hat Zakia ebenfalls berücksichtigt. Sie spricht/versteht etwas französisch. Der französiche Eigentümer stellte viele hilfreiche Infos zu Marrakesch zur Verfügung. Zum Preis auf der Website kommt noch eine Kurtaxe hinzu. Der Parkplatz, der auf der Website als Parklösung angeboten wird, befindet sich in der Medina und ist wegen der engen Gassen nicht empfehlenswert. Am Rande der alten Stadtmauer befinden sich bewachte Parkplätze (33 DH pro Tag), die besser mit einem Mietwagen anfahrbar sind. Insgesamt haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und würden das Riad auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Séjour très agréable au Riad Dar Al Mandar
Nous avons passé un séjour fantastique à Marrakech en grande partie grace à ce bon choix de location. Dar al Mandar est bien situé, dans la médina mais au calme. Nous avons pu largement profiter de la terrasse et des chambres agréablement décorées. Zakia nous a cuisiné des mets locaux délicieux tandis que l'intendant, Mostapha, a été aux petits soins pour rendre ce séjour mémorable.

Un tuffo nella cultura del Marocco
Un soggiorno indimenticabile per chi cerca di avvicinarsi il più possibile alla cultura e alle persone del Paese che sta visitando e non vuole limitarsi alle attrazioni turistiche. La casa è pulita, confortevole, silenziosa, tenuta con molta cura e arredata con gusto. Il quartiere è abitato da famiglie, molto vivace ma tranquillo e autentico, sono necessari ca. 15 minuti a piedi per raggiungere il centro.
Ma il valore aggiunto di questa sistemazione sono sicuramente Zakia e Mostapha che ci hanno accolto con simpatia e disponibilità e non ci hanno mai fatto mancare il loro sorriso!

A beautiful apartment in the heart of Medina. Every detail was looked after by Philippe or Mustapha. We really felt at home here. This place is perfect if you really want the feel of living in Marrakech. A short walk will take you to the Souks where you can shop and barter for all kinds of goods. It is off the beaten path, but that is part of the charm of this beautiful apartment in which every detail has meticulously been selected. With all the hand made designs, it is simply a stunning place to spend a few days or longer. Mustapha was there to greet us at the airport and bring us to the apartment. He was available whenever we needed assistance, gave great advice on the local area and was very interesting just to talk to. One of the nicest people I have ever met. And Zakia is so sweet and such a good cook. She even made our daughter a birthday cake. Kitchen is available to make your own food, but with Zakia to make local cuisine why would you.The bedrooms are nice size and have their own bathrooms. All rooms have plenty of outlets so you can recharge all your items as needed. Wi-Fi worked well. Apartment looked just liked the pictures. Kitchen, dining and relaxing areas on the ground floor, bedrooms on 2nd and 3rd floors. Also nice terrace with Hot Tub. Used it one night and just relaxed and starred at the stars. A perfect place for those looking for adventure, a place to get away and enjoy a different culture.

Wonderful Stay with great help from Mostapha and Zakia
Three generations of my family (my grandmother, parents, and sister) visited Marrakech for a week. The riad was beautifully decorated. Mostapha and Zakia made our stay wonderful. The meals were absolutely delicious and Mostapha was always there to help arrange tours and taxis for us. We would love to visit again some day.

Very comfortable house
Booking was very easy. Philippe communicated very well and there were no problems with payment, pick up and arrival. The house is very central in the medina but very quiet when inside. The living space downstairs is cool and relaxing and the bedrooms are very comfortable. The roof terrace is a lovely space to sit in the late afternoon / evening. Zakia and Mostafa are lovely people and made us very welcome. Zakia cooks beautifully.
