Effective base for week in San Diego
This property ended up being great for a week in San Diego centered around a conference at the Convention Center. It was a little bit of a commute (25-30 minute walk/$10-$15 rideshare), but as long as you take that into account, it was a nice quiet place to come back to each night. Accommodations were a bit dated but perfectly functional and comfortable. All-electronic combination entry is nice, and John the host was very communicative.

Our first time in San Diego and we’re happy we chose this place. Accessible to transpo if you just want to explore the city. Walking distance to Gaslamp Quarter too! Very nice experience . Complete amenities . Good thing coz we forgot our shampoo & conditioner. The owner was very attentive to our needs. It’s a nice home away from home.

Writing this for those who want all the details:
The space is typical for city living and most who are traveling for a city/party experience are not going to care about what I list but if your days are not for partying and are a bit "off of the flow of mainstream", you may want to take some of this into account. I was not traveling for a party and my days were very early getting out and back in.
Overall: space is fine: it's clean with a comfortable bed, well-stocked kitchen (including cutting knives), A/C and space heaters. It's not a bad neighborhood (there are homeless around but they don't bother you unless you bother them). Couple things I wish other reviews would have mentioned:
- make sure you check spam for check-in email because it may end up there (I never received it and it was not in spam ... just know, that's how it comes and in Word format)
- there is no driveway for loading and unloading, so just a forewarning if you have more than a couple bags because of parking (may have to double-park with hazards on to unload/load)
- if you're accustomed to a very quiet neighborhood, this one is noisy (it's the city): cars constantly going by with loud bass that can be felt while in bed, one of the permanent neighbors talks VERY loud, and other guest can be loud ... the good thing is, there's an abundance of fans that can be used to create white noise (except for the loud bass that can be felt)
- I was in the downstairs small apartment in the back of the house and outside the bedroom window is the "common area" gazebo. Sometimes the guests leave the lights on all night and yes, that penetrates the blinds (no black-out curtains). On one night, I returned and there was a party going on outside the window. Had to turn on all the fans to drown out the people and sleep with a pillow over my eyes because it was prior to the quiet time of 10 P.M. Also, my schedule had me up at 3 - 4 A.M. for my start, and one guest repeatedly hung out back in the gazebo because that's the smoking area: a bit uncomfortable to know there's someone right outside the bedroom window while trying to get ready for the day.
- parking is at a premium, for those who can't walk far: I stayed a total of 8 days and three times (a couple times during the week and on Saturday) had to park across from Jack-in-the-Box. If you're a good parallel parker, with a smaller car, you can squeeze in somewhere in the front most days. If not,. gotta go around the block.

A perfect stay in San Diego.
The property was very clean and included everything we needed for our stay. Mr. Reardon was immediately responsive to our request and supplied what we needed. We were so happy with location. We got to walk to a Giants Vs. Padres game @ Petco. Gaslamp district was also within walking distance. Coronado island was a 10 minute drive. Pacific Beach was also 15 minutes. Little Italy was 10 minute drive. Balboa Park just as near. Was such a great stay, we will probably book with him again!

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean, the perfect size, quiet, and very comfortable. The location was great because if you are driving, it’s a quick hop onto the 5, you can walk to all the downtown and harbor sites, and it is off the major downtown scene enough to be very quiet as well. Great communication and welcome from hosts. Just a great deal all around!!

Nice little cozy spot.
The unit was clean, well kept and stocked with everything we forgot to bring. Bottled waters, in the fridge, coffee, tea, and all the spices imaginable stocked in the cupboards. Extra towels and even beach towels were provided. There is laundry facility with complimentary quarters provided. The unit has iron, ironing board, hairdryer, vaccuum, broom, coffee pot, tea kettle, toaster, microwave, I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
Although we didn't need them while we were there, the staff was easily accessible and readily available and super friendly, theyd speak every time in passing. The owner was also nice, friendly and made sure to check on us via email the first morning to ensure we had everything we needed.
We found food within walking distance (Jack in the Box and Authentic Mexican food and a little ice cream shop.) We even walked to Walmart twice (5 minute walk)
As long as you're not afraid of seeing quite a few homeless people in the neighborhood. (they didn't bother us, we didn't bother them), this is the perfect little spot. Our unit was secured behind a locked metal gate where there are sunbathing chairs. a gazebo set, grill, and firepit (with logs and fluid) all available!

Good value, nice, clean
The place turned out smaller than expected. The washer+drier turned out to be paid laundry facility near the unit. The 3-4 people unit had only a small table and chairs for 2. Outdoor dining table under gazebo and BBQ turned out to be in the common area, supposedly used by several units occupants (we were lucky, though, never seen other occupants using it, so all those things were available for us when needed.) The only bathroom access is through the bedroom - not a great thing for neither a couple in the bedroom, nor for the 3rd person, sleeping in the living room. In short, this is a great accomodation for 2, not 3-4 people, like listed in the ad.

This home was perfect for our holiday weekend. It was 4 of us my 2 kids took on the sofa bed and were a little tight but we didn’t plan on being home much so it worked out. The TV’s were too small but did the job, just like the bathroom and the bed were small and also did the job. The sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable I did ask for An additional mattress and it was fine, the hassle putting it on and off but it did the job. I will tell you this it’s a first come first serve parking so make sure your ok with walking to and from. The area was close to everything, but very busy neighborhood so if your boujie this place is not for you! The Owner was awesome and answered al my questions and was quick to help. There are several units on this property he does a have bigger ones which I plan on getting next time!!!

Our 2nd stay here...
We have now stayed here 2 weeks, and will probably be back next year. 20 minute walk to Petco Park and downtown, 10 to Barrio Logan. We chose not to rent a car this time, and just to Uber, our future choice! We really really like this place. The owner is what you would hope for...

This was a great place to rent! We were conveniently located near lots of things, some w/in walking.
The online process was very easy, there were dates given if cancellation was needed and how much of your money would be returned by certain dates. The owner made contact immediately, great instructions upon arrival. Highly recommend the property.

Nice experience in a small but nice place
Apartment is small but nicely decorated and maintained. The complex is also cute and pleasant. The neighborhood is okay, families and quite people living there. A bit away for going to the Convention (20 blocks). Parking at street could be a bit complicated during weekdays if you pay attention to prohibition during morning hours, also weekends could be hard for finding a place close to the apartment because there is a church behind the complex that attracts many people. Overall the experience is good. Don’t sure if I will come back to this apartment again because is not completely okay for a business meeting in town.

Perfect for us!
This stay worked well. Close enough to most everything we wanted to see. Located on a busy street, parking was a challenge the first day as it is street parking only and we arrived the day before Cinco De Mayo. We enjoyed our stay. Laundry facilities and a nice yard to relax in.

Sherman Heights stay
Our stay was lovely as could be! The unit was clean and well stocked - we were particularly grateful for the comprehensive collection of cooking implements provided. Instructions on how to access the unit and what to be done while staying there were easy to follow and John was very kind, following up the morning after our arrival to make sure we had everything we needed and any questions we had were answered. Location was great too - a 20-minute wall from the Gaslamp Distict and just off the highway for easy access to the rest of what San Diego has to offer. Would definitely stay here again!

Enjoyed our stay
We stayed 4 nights here and enjoyed our stay. John was very accommodating and responded to our questions very promptly. The property was only a short drive to the beach, shopping and many parks and museums in the area. The property was very clean and we had a great time. Thank you John!

The apartment was clean and well outfitted. All the amenities were as advertised. The location was great as we were able to walk to downtown pubs and restaurants. The owner was helpful and responded quickly to our texts. He also gave us great sightseeing tips!

Will rent again! - New home away from home in San Diego :)
We rented this property for three of our employees during a recent business conference. Each employee stayed in their own unit within the home which worked out perfectly. They all came back raving about the place. Typically we arrange hotel rooms, which they would share but this property allowed them the privacy of their own unit but could meet together and have a bbq in the yard and unwind. When travelling on business it's nice to come back to a stress free, relaxed environment after a long days work! John was great to work with! See you again next time we're in San Diego.

Great location to get anywhere in San Diego
I had a wonderful stay at this property. It was a nice one-bedroom unit that felt private, secure, and comfortable. Uber rides were between $5 - $10 to get anywhere, including the airport, Coronado Island, Balboa Park, downtown, etc.
John was very welcoming and helpful. The unit was clean and, since I was traveling alone at first, I really appreciated the secured entry. Only complaint was the WiFi was a bit spotty on my (very old) iPhone, but worked just fine on my laptop and on the TVs in the unit for Netflix.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A terrific deal in San Diego!
This apartment is beautifully remodeled with everything you could ask (except central air conditioning--August brought the city record high overnight temperatures . . . the small a/c unit in the living room helped, as did the ceiling fans). John was a thoughtful and solicitous landlord. The location is ideal for coming and going, two blocks from an I-5 entrance and equally close to 94. Ten minutes drive to Balboa Park and the zoo. You can easily walk to the waterfront, the baseball stadium, or the Gaslamp Quarter--and an Albertson's supermarket is seven blocks away. It's completely furnished and immaculate, and reasonably quiet for a major street in a big city. Perfect for a couple, probably fine for a child with the sofa bed.

We loved our stay in this house!
OK, the main things I look for in a vacation rental are location, comfort, amenities and responsiveness of the host. Our unit #1 met all four of these expectations, for sure! We loved being in the middle of everything in this area of San Diego. Since we live in the suburbs, it was so fun to stay in a home in the city, yet it was very quiet at night. Though we came and went all day and night we never felt ANY sense of danger (as a previous renter mentioned). We loved the fully appointed and stocked kitchen, the super comfy bed, and the really nice bathroom and shower. Was perfect for the two of us. And we cannot say enough about John, our host. We just so happened to be there during the one week where San Diego was experiencing unusually warm temps, and uncharacteristic humidity - which we were trying to escape in St. Louis where we live! :) Though this unit has ceiling fans in living room and bedroom, plenty of windows to open, and a small wall unit AC in living room, it was pretty warm in there our first night, while trying to sleep and blow dry my hair and put on make-up. (Most women will understand that part!) Everything was so nice there, I was embarrassed to even mention this to John. A few hours after I texted him the next morning, and while we were out at the beach, that man bought a super nice tower fan and put it in our bedroom!! That was just amazing, and I didn't expect that. Thank you so much, John! That fan (and your thoughtfulness) made all the difference, and we slept comfortably for the rest of our stay. My husband and I totally agree that we will check this property first the next time we have a chance to come back to visit this fabulous city!
And a little note to first-time visitors to San Diego...you do NOT want to miss the Torrey Pines Gliderport!! Look it up online before you travel here, and plan an afternoon, you will not want to leave. You can have a really delicious, inexpensive lunch there while you sit way up high on a cliff overlooking the ocean and watch gliders float right off the cliff into the sky before your eyes. It is truly mesmerizing!

Extremely outstanding
This is a no-brainer if you ask me. With the location how can not want to stay here? The property is very clean and the added extras are huge to have. Location-wise it's a $6-7.00 Uber ride away from the downtown area and access to the freeways are right around the block from the property. I saw a previous review about the nieghborhood being "sketchy". Please...It's not that bad and there's a really good taquito stand right across the street. If you can't park right in the front of the property, there's still available spots, so at worse case you will have to walk a entire dreaded half-block away...for free....oh yeah..free street parking. The owner John is great and is always available for any questions or concerns you may have. I will continue to stay here when I'm in SD and ditch the hotel scene downtown. It's quiet at night in general, so you can actually sleep. It's cool to chat with the other guest's staying there as well. You will have a gated private, coded keyless entry for the added safety and security. All the bases are covered on the inside with silverware, plates, glasses, oven, fridge and everything else you would see in a kitchen. It's a small home away from home and very comfortable. I highly advise anyone visiting the San Diego area to stay here.

Nice place in not so nice neighborhood. I was somewhat surprised about the actual neighborhood as the picture of the house did not indicate such. (With this said, I guess it is a little difficult to show the neighborhood), but as we had our 5 year old grandchild with us, we were very aware as we left the premise. The unit itself was comfortable
