Shady Palms is a clean and cozy beach cottage right on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Walk out the back door to a large secluded backyard just one step to the beach and the gulf waters of Anna Maria. Shady Palms is located in the most perfect spot to enjoy the best of both worlds - the sun and the shade. Relax in the shady backyard and enjoy the gulf breeze blowing through the Australian Pines and Coconut Palms while the sun and the beach are just a step away. A large dining table and picnic table are provided for beachside dining or relax in the oversized hammock with a cold one as the dolphins roll and the sun sets - and the best part - it's all right in your backyard! Walk through the front door and notice beautiful views of the beach and the gulf waters from just about anywhere you are in the house - all three living areas, the kitchen, both dining areas, and the master bedroom. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf outside the bedroom window. You'll feel right at home with a fully-equipped kitchen that includes brand new stainless appliances, a center island workstation, plenty of serving options and fun gadgets galore for island cooking and entertaining! Two refrigerators - and two icemakers - means never running out of space or ice! The Middle Living Room has two comfortable lounge chairs and a sofa. There's a 70" flat screen SMART TV with cable and premium channels (HBO and SHOW) and a DVD player. The TV is WiFi ready. Netflix and Prime streaming is provided or sign into your own streaming account. The Game Room (2nd living area) has a game table with cards, games, and puzzles for old-fashioned fun. A chaise lounge with an overhead lamp for reading and relaxing in comfort. Explore the indigenous shell collection of gulf treasures found on and around the island including authentic Anna Maria artifacts from bygone days. The Gulf-Side Sitting Room (third living area) has a second dining table overlooking the beach. Absolutely loved our stay at Shady Palms. Fantastic location in a quiet neighborhood yet an easy walk to a variety of restaurants. The house is a refreshing change from staying at condos and multi-story beach houses. So cozy and comfortable. Cindy was an absolute pleasure to rent from. She even welcomed us with a lovely basket of goodies. If the house is available to rent don't hesitate to book it. You won't be disappointed.

Location, Location, Location!
Fantastic historical home located right on the beach. Palms and pines provided a shady backyard, perfect for relaxing and amazing sunsets. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and trolley stops. Cindy and Greg are the best! Their hospitality was over the top! Loved our stay and will definitely return to Shady Palms.

This was our first trip to AMI and it was paradise! The weather and water were gorgeous. The property was everything we had hoped for and more. The backyard was steps to the beach, but it’s own kind of paradise all in itself. The house is within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We had a lovely time!

Relaxing Anna Maria Beach Home
Very cozy beach house. Our family enjoyed spending time at the house and on the beach. The fully equipped kitchen made it possible to cook most of our meals at home. The back yard and beach views are spectacular. Shady Palms is one of our favorite locations to relax. Thanks again Cindy for a wonderful experience!

Relaxing, Fun Beach Home on Florida's Gulf
I loved my time at Shady Palms beach home and it truly is a home, not just a house. I was there for four weeks in February and it was difficult to leave because it is so comfortable and located at an excellent place on the beach. The details of each room are in keeping with the location...shells, fish, nautical themes in every room. The kitchen is excellent in that it is supplied with everything that is needed plus the dishes and accessories make the room seem as though a designer selected each piece. The bedrooms are very large in size and decorated beautifully. My favorite room is the ocean-side living room where I enjoyed reading and writing every time of the day. The one bathroom is decorated with the nautical theme. The second bathroom is in the garage so that it is used for trips from your time at the beach. I loved watching the sunsets from the chairs in the large ocean-side yard. It is a magnificent time to be at Shady Palms. I entertained fifteen people for lunch one day and it was as easy as entertaining in my own home. This is a fantastic Florida home. I would love to go back there every winter. The owner, Cindy, is a delight to work with in every aspect of your stay there and also in the preparations for your going there. Staying at Shady Palms for no matter what length of time will be one of the highlights of any of your stays in Florida. The location of the house is on Holmes Beach at the center of Anna Maria Island. I loved the palms and evergreen trees that are abundant in the front and ocean-side yards. It makes for shade and lots of privacy. Additionally, the neighborhood is quiet and private. Bravo to Cindy and Shady Palms!

A perfect beachfront getaway!
Our stay at Shady Palms was wonderful. The cottage is very comfortable and the kitchen is just right for a foody! Only steps to the beach and a perfect view of the sunset. We were able to walk to our favorite restaurant, Hurricane Hanks. We highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a comfortable, quiet retreat.

Old Florida Charm
If you want sleek and new, this is not for you. But, if you want relaxed and tons of Old Florida Charm, this is the place to be. Older home with 1 full bath, and a 1/2 bath, but
for two - six, probably accomadates just fine. I loved all the character throughout the house. It had so many unusual things to see. The owner has it decorated so nicely that you find little different things each day. Kitchen was updated and had all that you would need to fix meals everyday. Beach - ah, what can I say. Fabulous!!!

We had an amazing time. The home is very charming and you can’t beat opening your door and taking a few steps to the beach. We comfortably slept 2 adults and 4 teens without a problem. There is one bathroom inside and 2 beach baths off the garage which came in very handy to rinse off after the beach. The home is very well stocked with any kitchenware you need to make meals at home. It’s centrally located on the island making it convenient to restaurants and shops. Cindy is so sweet and easy to work with and we loved hearing the history of the home. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent the beach house again. We can’t wait to go back!

The nicest home we've ever rented
I cannot say enough good things about this home. Staying here for a week was the best week of relaxation and healing we've had in ages. I kept trying to figure out exactly what it was that we loved so much... maybe it was the combination of all of these things:
-You are both right on the beach, can see and hear the turquoise water but also have your own private shady garden between you and beach.
- There are plenty of tables and desks that my husband and I could both set up our computers and get lots of work done... and the view from each desk or table was beautiful.
- The kitchen was well stocked with everything to make cooking and preparing meals easy.
- Both big beds were comfortable! How often we've stayed somewhere with one big, uncomfortable mattress that means that one of us goes to sleep in a twin bed and I look forward to returning home.
- This house doesn't feel like a rental home with the bare minimum in the house. Instead it feels like a home where a family has been living for many years, has wonderful collections, and has put a lot of thought into the easy functioning of the house.
We have rented at least 20 homes over the years and this one was by far our favorite. In fact, while we were there we looked into coming back again two months later but unfortunately it's booked. It's a great place.

Paradise on the Beach!
We visited in February and really enjoyed the place. Cindy was easy to work with and recommendations for places to eat. The house was very neat and clean when we got there. The location is centrally located yet has lots of privacy. Great back yard with shade and easy access to the beach. Beds and furniture were comfy. Kitchen was well equipped and recently upgraded and had everything we needed, except food of course. Easy walk to places to eat and shopping. Sleeping while listening to the waves was the best part! We will be back!

What more could you want?
This was our second stay at Shady Palms and it was like coming home. Cindy and I are friends now and she is always a pleasure and super easy to deal with. Security deposit returned immediately. If you are looking for a comfortable house right on the gulf at a very reasonable price (do you know how RARE this is?) Shady Palms is the place for you. We are definitely coming back.

A perfect stay
In short: 4 adults and 3 kids fitted in nicely. House was larger than expected, very clean and well-functioning. Ample sitting-room space and nice, large kitchen, all with views of the Gulf. All amenities in place, nothing needed. House sits on a very large lot, completely undisturbed. Very nice and quiet neighborhood.
Grandparents enjoyed the backyard with palms, cypresses and perfect, shady views of the Gulf. Directly on a not-crowded part of the beach, the water being not too shallow, nor right away too deep for the kids - also perfect. Walk to the tip of the island early in the morning, round trip 1½ hrs.
We have tried a number of places "up-and-down" the Gulf coastline - some cheaper, some more expensive (everything is expensive with 7 in your party!) - and Shady Palms, in my opinion, is highly recommendable and offers good value for money. We would not hesitate to stay again, and will certainly recommend. Contact with owner very easy, friendly, humorous and swift. No problems whatsoever.

Pure Paradise!
We had the pleasure of spending two weeks at Shady Palms. The accommodations were exemplary. The house is gorgeous, impeccably decorated, and immaculately clean with all the comforts of home! We will never forget opening the front door upon our arrival and seeing the breathtaking view of the beach from the front room. The shady backyard was such a welcome relief from a day at the beach. Cindy, the owner, has thought of everything to make your stay a memorable one. The home is conveniently located within walking distance of great restaurants and shops. We can't wait to return and highly recommend a visit.

Best Vacation Ever
My husband and I spent a glorious week at Shady Palms. We both agreed that this was our best vacation ever. The setting of the home is perfect. From the back door, you are steps away from a gorgeous beach which we found to be relatively uncrowded and peaceful. The beach is wide and very clean and early risers will find a nice selection of shells. The water was still on the chilly side in early April, but warm enough to take a dip if you wish. When you need a break from the sun, you can wander back to the lovely back yard which is entirely shaded by a variety of huge trees. There's plenty of seating and a picnic table in the back yard as well as a wonderful hammock for afternoon naps. Plan to be on hand in the back yard for the beautiful sunsets. Inside, you will find a charming, well-appointed home that is SPARKLING clean. There is definitely an "Old Florida" feel to this place which is so much more inviting than your typical sterile condo or hotel room. The shell display in the front room is not to be missed--it's a true work of art. The kitchen is extremely well appointed with everything you need if you decide stay in for meals. If you want to venture out for a meal, there are plenty of great options within a short drive. The beds are fantastically comfortable and sure to guarantee a great night's rest. Most importantly, I can't say enough about how good it was to deal with Cindy, the property manager. She was extremely responsive to our questions and requests and went above and beyond what you would typically expect from a property manager. We had a bit of a logistical glitch when we arrived at the property (not Cindy's fault) and she took care of it immediately and to our complete satisfaction (thanks Cindy!!). Ahhh, miss you Shady Palms...we're already thinking about 2017...

True gem
My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Shady Palms the last two weeks of January. The setting is perfect -- directly on wide, mostly deserted beach. The house itself is surrounded by magnificient tall palms and Australian pines. Inside are two quite comfortable bedrooms and very spacious sitting areas. The kitchen is extraordinarily well equiped. Be sure to study the display case in the entry way. Close by are several restaurants you should definitely try. Hurricane Hanks is just around the corner -- expect a waiting line. Eat here ( yes that is the name ) is a very good, more upscale restaurant a few blocks away. All in all one could not ask for more in a vacation rental.

Excellence
What a place! We enjoyed our first stay on AMI, and this house was simply amazing. We met the owner on the day we arrived, and she was a delightful woman. She welcomed us into the home she grew up in, and in a short time we felt "at home". The beds were extremely comfortable, and the furnishings were wonderfully eclectic. This place lacks nothing, and we would not hesitate to stay here again. In fact, when we return to AMI, we will only do so if we can rent Shady Palms.
