Location is awesome. Very clean and tidy. Great showers.
The bedroom was pretty cold. I know I'm a bit of a Softy though. Just super glad that I packed my hot water bottle.

Good views
A Bit hard to find. Google Maps Said you reached your Destination in the middle of the First. A additional sign at the Bridge would be nice.
The concept to Run the lodge on Solar Power is cool, but we were Not aware of that while booking.

Forest Lodge is an older property but it is priced appropriately and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is plenty of kitchen storage and everything you need to prepare meals. The shared bathroom is kept clean and is in good condition. There are plenty of extra blankets available for colder notes and a big fire in the main dining / kitchen / lounge area. Hamish, the manager, is awesome - he has that great balance of being friendly but also leaving you to have your own personal peace and quiet. The location is absolutely awe inspiring - such a beautiful drive in and out and amazing views out of the big picture windows in the main common room. The whole vibe of the place is welcoming, relaxed and peaceful. I'd stay here again!
It was the first really cold snap when I stayed here. The main room had a warm fire which was awesome but the bedrooms could be very cold. I just rugged up and managed it without any issues as I had all the right gear for it. Just make sure you bring enough warm clothes and you'll be fine!

Unreal location with stunning views, the property was quiet when we were there but still very sociable with the 5 of us who were staying. Host was very good and welcoming.

Very quiet and beautiful view out of the common/dining area.
The mattress was very soft and uncomfortable. The kitchen area wasn't so clean. The bathrooms and our room were very clean though.

Very good ambiance. Staff were very accomodating and provided us with their emergency food to feed 8 of us as we did not know it was in a remote place. Forest the dog was a plus!

The location was amazing - an isolated lodge set in fields of beautiful tussock, beech forest, bellbirds etc. Loved the funky co-op vibe, the Alpine chalet look of the place. It had everything you could need, and everything was well thought out. Liked the off-grid nature of it and the attention to sustainability. A big plus.
Monstrous ravenous sandflies and no flyscreens on the windows meant we couldn't sleep with the windows open, making our bunkroom suffocatingly hot. Barely slept. Not a problem for winter visitors of course, just sandfly season. I've never met anything like them anywhere else in the south island. We would have also preferred a vax pass requirement for visitors.

Would love to go stay again. This is a super place for a function or family get away
Would highly recommend staying here again...especially in winter for the ski season.

A beautiful lodge far away from everything and the perfect getaway to spend the weekend hiking/running/mountain biking/skiing etc. The staff are very friendly.
