The house has a lot of character. Plusses are proximity to the beach, pool (although we did not use it), one story layout, clean. Downside: need some renovations to make it feel a little safer for families with young children and elderly. Overall, an enjoyable stay for our family.

We recognize the description stated the house is the 2nd oldest on the island.
But the very selective photos and how they were portrayed was misleading. I’ll be to the point - the driveway is completely destroyed and needs to be replaced it literally is in chunks, the deck around the house is a complete liability the deck screws protruding out of deck boards, many of the deck boards are curling up and unsecured, the pool fence is equally in need of maintenance, overall condition of house exterior is horrible, the “roof top deck”you’d be risking life and limb to go up on that dilapidated structure it should be taped off, kitchen floor tiles are not even glued down and slide all over, shower towel bar broken maws “repaired” with chartreuse painters masking tape, the amount of trash and garbage around the entire property outside was insane - old window AC unit broken glass, out window screens chewing tobacco container used to hold water supply line in place, beer cans and food containers, threatening FAKE sign stating “CAMERAS ON” please, fridge vegetable drawer in back yard, dirty old floor mop left by the deck stairs, tv cables looked like a rats nest inside, the list can go on an on. I have photos of every infringement I have mentioned.
We had a great trip but NONE of it was related tour rental. The owners need to re-evaluate renting if repairs are not made.

We had a wonderful week at Key West!! Walk to the beach was so easy and the pool was great to have. House was well stocked and our family enjoyed the screened in porch. There were even floats and beach toys there. Would stay again for sure.

When booking for our trip, the only things our group had in mind were: relaxation, comfortability and closeness to the beach. Siesta Key offered all of that and a little more! It’s a quaint and comfy cottage that had the guests in our party feeling like they were on vacation the moment they stepped inside. We really enjoyed just how close everything was— the restaurants, the lighthouse, the stores and most importantly the beach! The pool was clean and perfect for when you wanted to cool off after a day sat the beach. The kitchen was nicely stocked, bedrooms were comfy, we even walked up onto the observation deck to try and catch a sunset. The only issue we ran into was the toaster over door coming off of a hinge on day four, BUT we quickly told management and they came by that very same day and brought us a toaster for the rest of our trip! :) By the end of our trip, everyone was feeling nice and relaxed and even hesitated on wanting to leave.
We don’t come to SGI often, but it has quickly become one of our favorite vacation spots and we will keep this property in mind for the next time we visit! We and our entire party had a great time! :)

We new this was an older home, but the yard was a mess. Our children got sand spurs in their feet just going to the pool. We have to make several trips to the store to get fish soap, toilet paper, pare towels etc. We would not recommend this location for the money we spent.

Great Location
Property is as described. It’s a short walk to the beach and shops. The pool was great, and I was surprised the bunk room was larger than the picture shows. Kitchen was very clean. I love the feel of the older houses and not having stairs was great! I gave 4 stars because it needs updating. Especially the windows and decking. The backyard which isn’t pictured at all was a nice little surprise with all the shade. Communication with the host was excellent both before and during our stay.

This property is as described. It had everything we needed for a wonderful time. Great location, short walk to the ocean, across from a bike path and close to town. We really appreciated the pool and washer/dryer. Property owner and management company responsive if needed. You may have mansion envy staying here but it’s a great deal if you value not spending a lot and you don’t need fancy to have a wonderful, relaxing time. Would stay here again and that truly is the best thing I can say in a review.

Siesta Key is such as fun, quirky house! We've been coming to SGI for years, and we love the quaint beach cottages versus the massively overpriced McMansions cropping up. This house has charm, is a 2 minute walk from the beach, and is super cozy. Lots of space, a private pool, and close to everything! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. My husband and I had a great time.

Property needs to be renovated before leasing again. I was embarrassed to have any friends over.
Busted windows, broken light fixtures, broken fans, etc. whoever owns this property should feel horrible renting to families trying to have a nice vacation

This was a really nice vacation. This was such a great house, too- we had a wonderful vacation. Very quaint, obviously an original island property, but comfortable and located close to everything. We would stay here again for sure! The pool was great, and the house is very comfortable.

This place was great. The owner, Karrie, was so helpful telling us what to expect on the island, and what there was to do. We absolutely loved this little house, it's one of the first on the island and has so much charm. Quick walk to the beach, as well as the lighthouse and restaurants and bars. The place was very clean and simple, but had everything you need for a great beach trip. I honestly cannot wait to come back!

The house was as advertised, old Florida and it is. That said we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Having the pool just outside the door was heaven. The neighborhood was so tranquil, no one home on either side so it felt like we had the island to ourselves. The kitchen was my favorite, well appointed and everything necessary for cooking up the fresh seafood we got at the truck.
Could it be updated, yes, but it was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Loved out stay!

A great vacation at a cute beach house
We had the best time ever at this adorable beach cottage. The owner, Karrie, was incredibly helpful and responsive with some question I had before we went, and the house was exactly as its described. It is actually very cozy, and stayed very cool inside the entire time we were there, too. A short walk over to the beach, and you can walk right to the lighthouse and restaurants in just a few minutes, too. We would definitely stay here again!

In my opinion and from my experience this house was not properly maintained. During the tropical storm Fred the roof leaked in the kitchen which was no surprise since there was a huge whole in the roof over the carport. The front door had water pouring in the house. The storm shutters were held in place with wire which came off and broke the window next to where my husband was sitting getting glass all over him. The wood window frames were rotten letting air in. The carport with rooftop deck was rotten and scary to climb the stairs let alone stand up there. The house wasn’t clean upon arrival and there was no cleaning supplies in the house not even dish soap, luckily we traveled with wipes to wipe everything down. The manager did send someone out with extra towels to keep in front of the door to try and slow down the water coming in the house. We had to use all the towels they brought us. They also sent someone out to tape up the window. The shower in the master bathroom was at least two feet off the ground with no grab bars to assist you getting in and out, and the shower head hit you at shoulder level making it impossible to wash your hair. I have lots of pictures to back up my claims and have filed a complaint with Vrbo. Hopefully something will be done to demand improvements be made to the house.

The owner and rental company both did a great job with communication. This property was as advertised, clean, casual & comfy. We did run into a few issues with the home, but Suncoast took care of the problems or helped us figure out how to resolve them quickly. (We had a broken toaster, which was replaced & the breaker for the dryer popped.) This was a multi-generation family trip, and we appreciated the boogie boards & sand buckets for our kids, and everyone loved the pool.
At the end of the stay, we accidentally left an IPad at the house, and the owner called to try to catch us, but we were too far gone. She helped us problem solve how to get it back to us, which we appreciate greatly!

This was our first trip to SGI and we loved it. The beach cottage was just as described in the listing. It isn't a fancy beach mansion so if that's what your priority is when booking a vacation home, you shouldn't book this home. But this home is roomy, clean, rustic, comfortable, conveniently located, and has a great sized private pool. The kitchen was one of the larger ones that we've had in rentals and there was definitely enough space to prepare meals.
I've read some of the reviews that people commented that the home was run down or wasn't as depicted in the photos. For us, it did meet our expectations. Salty air makes a big difference to exteriors and I don't really attach a huge value to whether the paint on the outside of a rental looks fresh.
Also, a big shout out to the property management company that handles this rental locally. A tiny baby snake (it was a harmless black snake) made it's way into the home about three days in and my husband saw the tiny crevice it was getting in and out through. I'm terrified of snakes and called the property management office, Sun Coast, and not only were they as freaked out as I was, they sent someone within 15 mins. The maintenance guys were super kind and fixed the propblem and even showed me where they had done a lot of "snakeproofing" a couple of weeks prior because this can be a common issue in Florida. They fixed the propblem and put me back at ease.
Finally, if I were offering any suggestions for the owner, I would suggest perhaps adding a bed topper to the mattresses. I'm ok with a firm mattress but they would have been a bit more comfortable with some type of topper perhaps under the mattress cover. Also, a few blankets or throws for evenings when you're sunburned and laying around would be a great addition. The chairs by the pool could use and upgrade but we were able to use them just fine.
If you're looking for a simple laid back rental where you can just relax, this will be a great choice for you. I give it 5 stars because it met our needs and was as described in the listing. But if you want a 5 star level of fancy, you probably won't be happy here. That's not our thing and we had a great time and would totally stay here again.

Just as good as last time.
Lovely little country style home, not far of a walk from a beach. Mrs. Shackleford is always a pleasure to deal with, and the people at suncoast are very polite and accommodating.

Siesta Key was exactly as advertised. Great cottage style house with a nice view, very close to the beach, with a beautiful pool. We had 3 adults and two large dogs and had more than enough room. The week we were in St. George it was pretty windy. One of the slat windows fell out of the track and the pool needed vacuuming. The property manager had both issues corrected with in two hours of us calling. That is unheard of in property rental! We vacation on St. George Island every year and will definitely stay at Siesta Key again.

We’ve been coming to SGI since our kids were babies, and wife had come with her family through the 70’s and 80’s. For the money, this house is a great value. Very nice pool, the AC was ice cold, the beds comfy. On day one we had a WiFi issue that was quickly resolved. The property owner and the property management company were very quick to respond. Remember this house issue fancy with elevators and surround sound, etc. but it was very quaint and nice for the money!

Amazing beach cottage!
My wife and I absolutely loved this place. The house is one of the first ever built on the island, and it has a ton of charm. It's located just a few minutes walk from the lighthouse and restaurants, and also just a short walk over to the beach. The house has plenty of space (it was just the two of us) and was very clean, too. The pool and outdoor deck were nice, and the owner was great to work with. A short stay for us, but we'd definitely come back and stay longer next time. An awesome experience all the way around.

My partner, pups, and I had a lovely stay at Siesta Key cottage. The description and photos are accurate—this is an older cottage, but it’s cozy and it had everything we needed for an enjoyable weeklong stay. We loved being in short walking distance to the beach and “town.” We also loved spending time in the pool, which was very clean. Our host was quick to respond and gave good advice for things to do and places to eat. My only complaints were that the AC unit made an extremely loud clicking noise, and that the chairs in the pool area could be replaced because they had some cracks. Other than that, everything was wonderful! I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for comfortable and budget-friendly accommodations on SGI.

SGI CHILI CRAWL AKA CHILI COOK-OFF MARCH 2021
We booked Siesta Key for the weekend of the Chili Cook-Off, which turned out to be a Chili Crawl for the business of SGI. Which was still a great time. Siesta Key is in a great location, we rented a golf cart and had a wonderful time. The property was as presented in the photos. Nice older home, and pet friendly!! When we arrived the house was nice and clean, it was a great stay for us. The pool is also nice, although we did not get in, not quite pool weather yet! The owner is great to communicate with as well, very quick to respond to questions. Thank you for having a great affordable place to stay at SGI!

Quite disappointed with this property. We do take some responsibility, as we booked very last minute.. but, there was NOTHING comfortable about this cottage. The only convenience was the proximity to everything. It really appears no money or time is put into this rental. It’s a hodge-podge of old stuff and furniture thrown in. The floor was dirty and covered with sand. And found fleas in the cottage that evening. Thank goodness our friends rented a nicer bigger house close by and we could visit them most of the time. Old beds and cheap bedding. Showers are RIDICULOUS! Shower heads maybe hit below my chest.. my husband is over 6 ft and could not shower standing up. Dishes and kitchen appliances are old and cheap and some don’t even work. I realize we got a last minute, pet friendly booking. Will never ever stay there again and wouldn’t recommend anyone else to, unless this place is fixed up.
