This delightful vacation rental cottage is located on a quiet Rockport lane less than 100 yards from the sands of Cape Hedge Beach. Just cross the lane and walk over the footbridge and you're on the beach. Captain's Cottage is a cozy two-bedroom, one-level beach house with pine-paneling in the traditional summer cottage style. The kitchen is simple, but has all the necessities. The comfortable living room with the beautiful ornamental fireplace is the perfect room to wind down after a day at the beach. Both bedrooms have air conditioning. The grounds of the property are classic Cape Ann, including views of the sea and rugged granite boulders that grace the yard. A picnic table under the trees is situated so that even the most casual meals have an ocean view. After a day at the beach, enjoy rinsing off in the outdoor shower that has both hot and cold water. No Smoking. No Pets. Living Room: This room has comfortable seating, a large flatscreen TV, and an ornamental fireplace. Kitchen: The cottage kitchen has a refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, and other amenities for cooking. Bedroom 1: This front bedroom has a Queen bed, a window unit AC, and peek-a-boo views of the ocean. Bedroom 2: This room has two Twin beds and AC. Bath: The full bath has a stand-up shower. There is a picnic table and outdoor chairs for relaxing or dining outdoors. Rinse off after a day at the beach in the outdoor shower. There is parking for two cars at Captain's Cottage.

A truely nostalgic feeling at the cabin by the sea. We enjoyed the view and ambiance despite some shaky weather at the beginning of our stay. If you’re not used to a more rustic setting this might not be the place for you but we were in heaven. The porch with windows open on a breezy day was our favorite way to enjoy our morning coffee. Highly recommended for a true New England Experience
A few small minor things to consider updating if possible would be a new set of steak knives, an indoor folding clothes rack (we had a lot of rain and could try outside), a clothes line strung up between trees would be nice too, mattress pads on the two twins.

This was our second time staying at the Captain’s Cottage. We absolutely love Rockport and especially Cape Hedge Beach. This house is in such a great location.
The outdoor shower was broken last year and we were so happy to be able to use it this time. There were plenty of towels. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was great!

The location is amazing and Long Beach is stunning. It was lovely to let my 3 year old explore the beach and have the ability to quickly return to grab a snack etc.
The house was listed as having a washer/dryer. It does not. I reached out to the house management company on day one for a clarification on that piece, as well as, let them know that the propane tank ran out mid-cook-out. They said they would look into it. I did not hear back from them and ended up calling back two days later. They said that they couldn't find a washer/dryer on any of their listings. They did come replace the propane tank after I asked again- but we went two days with out it.
The house is an old school beach cabin- it has all the necessities in the kitchen. It was clean when we arrived.
I would not rent with the property manager again but loved Rockport and especially Long Beach so hope to return to the community!

We absolutely loved the LOCATION of this property. The cottage had basic amenities and suited a short stay. We loved the front porch and the outdoor shower- both excellent features for a beach cottage. While a washer and dryer had been mentioned in online guestbook emailed to us before check in, there was no washer and dryer at this property. Definitely a cabin-feel with very basic kitchen appliances- perhaps time to update the pots and pans. We appreciated how the house stayed nice and cool (due to the shade and sea breeze) but were disappointed to find some mold and the smell of mildew inside.

Everything was amazing! The location was great, close to the beach, and perfectly situated between Rockport and Gloucester. The ONLY PROBLEM was that the TV didn't work. A person came out to fix it on day one, but the only thing that worked was the limited cable service...the google TV in the back never worked. The service person said that there should have been a remote control for it but he couldn't find it and a replacement was never brought to us. Other than that the stay was great and we plan on returning in the future!

I always bring pans and a few other things because we always make breakfast and if you don't have what you need it's a real drag! A couch in the living room would be a big improvement. The chairs just aren't that comfortable. The table and chairs on the enclosed porch was really nice and you can hear the waves all the time. Loved that!
The beach was nice at low tide. High tide kept getting closer and closer and we practically had to put our chairs on the rocks to escape it. Next time we are planning on going to Good Harbor Beach.

We had a great 2 weeks, however, something has got to be done about the mattresses. We are practically hobbling around after sleeping on those mattresses for 2 weeks. I really wish that the house had been cleaner. There are stains on everything and it makes you not want to walk on the rugs and it makes you not want to sit in the chairs. The outside shower was great but not clean. My husband actually stepped on 3 pieces of glass on 3 different days in the bedroom with the queen bed - better him than our grandchildren but should not happen. This house is such a gem and would be so much better with some small cosmetic improvements - new mattresses, new rugs, new living room furniture. We'd definitely come back if those improvements were made.

Our experience with Atlantic Vacation Homes was absolutely Fantastic! The property is secluded and private, the outdoor shower is wonderful and the view is great! The home had everything we needed and more we are definitely coming back! Atlantic Vacation homes even referred us to a company in which we rented a crib and stroller to save room in our car. They worked out the drop off and pick up without even involving us! What a Great week we had as a family thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!!

Lovely views, beautiful landscaping and a wonderful outdoor shower help make the week a wonderful experience. We had a few beautiful beach days as well as experienced our first whale watching. There are a few issues with the Captain's Cottage house itself however they were a minor distraction in a wonderful week.

This has been my 15th year vacationing in Rockport and absolutely love the beaches here. My family and I have rented different cottages throughout the area and love the location of this one. The house is extremely outdated and had ants all over the kitchen. Although in the description of the cottage says there is WI-FI we did not have any connection all week. WE rent a cottage to save money on going out to eat all but but the kitchen is very outdated and not very conducive for actually cooking. Also when we came in at 3:00 at check-in time the cleaning company was still there cleaning the property. We were not able to get into the house for an extra 30 min. Coffee pot was also broken. UGH!!!
