With Seattle a direct flight from Ketchikan you can fly in and be fishing the same day. For guests more interested in exploring Ketchikan you can boat across the bay in minutes and enjoy numerous tours, restaurants, sights and shopping. The per night rate is for six adults; Additional charge for rental boat; Private dock; Fishing poles and reels for salmon and halibut; Crab pots and cooker; Ice and extra large freezer on site; Tackle and bait for sale on site; Dedicated fish processing area; Hot tub and outdoor kitchen; Airport pick up at Ketchikan airport. All weather fishing; the ability to fish open ocean water nearby and protected inside waters. Be on the water the same day you leave home; Ketchikan is a direct 1.5 hour flight from Seattle. Why Pennock Island for self guided fishing? A boat pick up from the airport, you will be fishing the day you land. Great mid way location between south and north fishing grounds. 15 minute run to Dungeness crab fishing grounds. 24 hour use of boat with no curfew or distance restrictions. Relax after a day on the water on the expansive decks overlooking the water, perfect for cooking your catch on the BBQ. A hydrotherapy spa faces west for relaxing soaks as the sun sets. Perfect for your fishing experience the custom built Svendson boats offer a deeper hull for a smoother ride, a wider beam and more deck space with built in insulated fish box, wash down, hydraulic steering and electric trim tabs. Powered by fuel efficient twin outboards the boats come with 3D GPS, depth finder and downriggers. Salmon and halibut poles come the boat. Please bring your tackle box with pliers etc. There’s always tackle here from the last group and you’re welcome to that but it’s not provided. Boats are ready to fish and provide the ultimate comfort for up to groups of four. Groups sizes over five will have the option to rent a second boat. There is not an official water taxi service, however I will be available to run guests to town who are not fishing. Salmon and Halibut poles and reels are included. I have a limited supply of tackle on site. New tackle with appropriate colors can be purchased locally. Fishing licenses can be purchased in advance on the State of Alaska website or at many stores in town. There is no time curfew on self guided fishing boats and no distance limit which means you can get the 4am bite anyplace you choose. Fish processing vacuum packing supplies are included in our onsite fish processing room or you can drop your catch at a local processing area if you do not wish to take care of your catch yourself. Rates are $2/pound finished weight and fish will be held and packed for your return trip. I provide a courtesy pick up upon your arrival in Ketchikan at the airport baggage claim for Alaska Airlines flights 67 and 69 which arrive here respectively at 3.54pm and 7.41pm. You will receive a complete boat orientation upon arrival and will be asked to sign a release from for liability. I will also go over the fishing in our local area and how to run any of the fishing gear you maybe unfamiliar with. If this is the first time fishing our waters I recommend taking a guided fishing charter with to show you the area and how to fish here. I can recommend several here. On your departure day, check out is at 10am, I can either drop you at the airport or in town. Alaska Airlines will allow bags to be checked in four hours prior to departure and there is a small ferry you can then take to the town side if you want to spend your last hours visiting town. Alaska Airlines flight 60 leaves at 9.02am. My home was built by hand from yellow cedar trees cut from the surrounding forest and milled locally and offers: Upper floor: Large king bedroom with one king bed and two twin beds. Exceptional water and forest views. Lower floor: 1 bedroom with queen and 2 singles. Water and forest views. 1 bedroom with queen bed with garden and forest views. 1 bedroom with one queen bed. Here you can wander the beach in solitude beach combing or relaxing in peace with a book. Kim, your host lives in cabin nearby and is available to help with any concerns during your stay. I enjoy sharing the island lifestyle and you are welcome to join in island adventures; beach combing the back side of the island, hiking in the forest and muskeg; towing home a beach log for firewood, splitting and stacking wood for winter or going crabbing for Dungeness Crab. A group of eight of us just completed our four night stay. House was awesome and our host, Kim, was also fantastic! I highly recommend this house and the additional boat option to get around. We would definitely all go back.

This vacation was a getaway for our family of 4 adult couples, and a toddler. A time to reconnect and relax, but also have some adventure and try new things. This property delivered! It was spacious enough to accommodate everyone comfortably, but intimate enough that we were spending time together. We had no shortage of fun things to do…from the ‘tourist’ things like Creek Street and lumberjack shows, to the more ‘locals’ experiences’ that Kim directed us to, we loved it all! Renting the boat opens doors to all these adventures…it’s a must.

We stayed at Kim’s place for a week with friends to celebrate my youngest son’s high school graduation. The property was well maintained and Kim was a super helpful host. The area is so beautiful! There was some debris that were on the island but that is life in Alaska. The boat was an added bonus and made our trip to town quick and easy. We saw whales, bear, seals, otter, eagles and the fishing was good. We had great luck with our crab pots that Kim showed us how to use and where to go. So hard to come back home after staying at this location for a week. We would highly recommend this house. Kim - thank you for a wonderful stay. You are AMAZING!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property, Kim was a great host. She responded quickly to our questions, showed us how everything worked and provided us with information about activities we were interested in. Our group consisted of 4 couples, and the house easily accommodated us. The view from the deck was beautiful and being on the island and only a 7or 8-minute boat ride to Ketchikan was very nice! There are some minor maintenance issues that need attention but nothing major. Again, the house was just right for our group and located in a beautiful location!

This house is in a great location and perfect for a group fishing trip. The hot tub, fishing preparation room, garden area, outdoor bar, and dock are very nice. It is in a beautiful location and having the boat to take out is really great. There is no internet service - only cell signal which is very strong. We rented the house for August 6-13. On the 7th one of the boat engines was alarming and not functioning as soon as we started heading out. The repair shop determined the oil had run out and the engine was shutting off. On the 8th the house ran out of water. The cistern and back-up tank had run empty. The owner said it would be the next afternoon until we would know if we would have water for the remainder of the trip. Despite providing drinking water and trying to run a hose from the creek to the tank, getting enough water was unsuccessful and we were told we would have to leave. The rest of the day was spent frantically trying to find somewhere else for 6 people to stay while packing up clothes and groceries and making arrangements to get off the island. We were able to find a two-room apartment in town in Ketchikan and arrange for two fishing charters. We lost the boat and self-guided fishing trips, ocean-front view, and space we had planned for as well as an entire day of our vacation coordinating changes. The biggest issues for us were that both the oil and water problems were due to lack of maintenance. The summer had been unusually dry, which cannot be helped, but the water tanks had not been checked to ensure there would be water. Also, the owner never offered to help us find other accommodations or transportation to them. Before we left, the owner assured us we would be refunded for the rental. The fee VRBO charges as well as the tax is based on the rental fee. The difference between an 8 day and a 3 day rental is significant. The owner refunded the house and boat days 9-13 as well as the boat for the day it went to the shop. She refused to refund the portion of the VRBO fee and part of the taxes assessed which was quite a lot. We should have processed a cancellation through VRBO rather than rely on the owner to refund the amount. We were so busy making other arrangements we just didn’t think of it at the time. Overall, it is a great rental in a beautiful location. Having the boat for self-guided fishing is wonderful. Just be aware that water could be an issue and if it is, you are out of luck and on your own.
