About this house rental
'Ocean Beach' resides at 21 Silversides Trail directly across the street from the beach on a cul-de-sac. WHAT A VIEW! We are midway down the South Beach, near the Maritime Market, fire station, boutique shops and almost exactly between The Bald Head Island Club and The Shoals Club. Our new home got a thorough going-over and is redecorated, repainted, and rebranded in the owners style. Our luxurious new bedding is sure to please everyone. There are two master bedrooms, and a third bedroom also has a king sized bed and private bath. The 'kids room' has two over-sized twins; that bedroom has its own bath as well. Each bedroom has new 32' flat screen TVs and DVD players. Please remember to make reservations with the Bald Head Island Ferry to arrive and depart. Your ferry ticket also provides you with tram service from the ferry to 21 Silversides Trail. All linens and towels are provided. We have wireless high speed internet service and unlimited domestic long distance phone service. The view from the upper deck is just spectacular and allows us to see from the Cape Fear River to Frying Pan Shoals. Dolphins are frequent visitors to 'our' beach and are easily seen from all 3 porches. In the garage you will find a 4 passenger and a 6 passenger golf cart. You MUST be a licensed driver to operate the golf carts on Bald Head Island. The shaded protected area that is the entry to our home, also serves as a place to escape the sun in one of the hammock. There is a sandy play area under the house for those little ones who have grown tired of our sun drenched beaches and a hot outside shower to get rid of the sand. The Maritime Market is quite amazing considering they must bring everything to the Island on a barge. The selections are extremely good and the service is excellent. I just want to say Thank You to Hugh for facilitating our stay at this beautiful house and property. The location is a very short walk to the beach and very convenient to BHI Club, the Market, and the Shoals Club. The appointments in the kitchen were the best we've experienced, and in every way the home exceeded our expectations!

The property was great! The location was perfect! The house was clean and extremely comfortable. It had great entertaining space, great relaxing space, a spacious property for sure! The property owner was easy to communicate with. The house was perfect for 4 couples. Each had their own en- suite. Beds were comfortable! I would rent this property again and again. !

Do not hesitate to book Ocean Beach! It is in the perfect location - just across the dunes from the beach, unobstructed view of the ocean, right down the road from the main shopping area. The house has everything you will need and the furnishings are gorgeous. We spent many relaxing and pleasurable hours on the front decks. We were particularly pleased with the completely outfitted kitchen, including a wide array of spices and condiments. We've stayed in many beach homes that didn't even supply salt and pepper, so not having to transport/buy these necessities was a joy. Owner was immediately responsive and helpful. You will have a great beach vacation at this house! We sure did.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house is nicely decorated, comfortable and very well-equipped for cooking and relaxing. The upper deck is the perfect place to view the sunset and the screened porch off the main bedroom is the perfect morning coffee spot. We enjoyed the ocean views and the very close beach access. The owners were very informative and responsive before and during our stay. We will definitely stay at Ocean Beach again.

We came to BHI for a large family reunion. This was one of a few properties we stayed in. My sister and I and our families stayed here and we cant say enough about how perfect our stay was. Not only is the home the perfect beachfront home for views of the ocean, porch rocking and reading, and late night movies, but it was also stocked with all the essentials - boogie boards, beach chairs, island carts, beach towels, comfortable beds, a washer and dryer and plenty of space. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed to cook and there were two refrigerators for plenty of room for food and cold beverages. Hugh was very responsive and helpful, and the location is idyllic. We only wish we could have stayed longer - but we will be back!

This was our fourth trip to BHI, and our first time at this house. We have stayed in many vacation homes over the past 30 years throughout NC and VA. This is one of the best we have stayed in. The location is perfect - easy access to the beach and the market. But the house itself is so well stocked. Everything that you can imagine you might need it has. Kitchen - every pot, pan, dish, spice or plate you might need. Bar - every glass, plastic cup, blender, mixer you might need they have in volume. Coffee bar - grinder, filters, sugar all right there. Beach - from beach towels to nice beach chairs to boogie boards - plenty of all. Grills - a gas one that the ignition actually worked on, and a charcoal one - both in good shape. Beds - most comfortable beds we have experienced at a vacation house. The house itself is well designed - decks in the sun, decks in the shade, and a screened in porch. And on top of it all the owner it very communicative and easy to deal with. Not only do we highly recommend this house, we have already booked it again for next year. Can't wait to get back!

Hugh is an incredibly responsive and generous host. This house is the most well-equipped beach house we’ve ever rented - beach chairs, boogie boards, sand toys galore plus the most well-equipped kitchen you could ask for. Sunny deck, shaded deck, screened deck or Sandy play area with kids swings and a porch swing, you have every option imaginable for family space or quiet space. Living room and dining room are great for family games, and the second fridge in the garage really helps!

Incredible Beach House on BHI
Had a wonderful time on BHI’s South Beach. This house was impeccable, thoughtfully appointed and fully stocked with everything you need. We cook constantly when on vacation and had everything needed to cook and bake to our heart’s content. We enjoyed exceptional views of the beach, sunrises and sunsets from all decks and porches. The owners were terrific and quickly responsive to all questions. We highly recommend this house!

Fabulous property in a great location
This house has everything we were wanting. Great ocean views and wonderful decks for hanging out. We appreciated the covered area under the house and the large outdoor shower! The kitchen is well stocked and the bedrooms are comfy. Hugh is extremely responsive. We will definitely be back.

We cooked delicious meals each night, spent our days strolling and playing along the beaches and nights were spent on the balcony stargazing to the sounds of the waves crashing nearby. The hosts have truly thought of every detail to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. We have stayed at many homes on BHI but none as perfect as this. The proximity to the calm South Beach and the set up for young children was PERFECT! The house was beautiful and well taken care of! Our six adults and three children fit into this property perfectly. Nicely appointed and equipped, clean, multiple patios with beautiful views with a very short walk to the beach on a quiet cul-de-sac. Kind of pricey but worth it!

We had a wonderful time in this home. It is centrally located to access either end of the island (town and East Beach.) The home has a beach access right in front of it too so you're only a short walk away to South Beach. The view from the top deck is amazing. Kitchen was well stocked with whatever you need should you like to cook.

Great location ….end of a culdesac….boardwalk right there. Has the best high porch sitting area on the street. Just awesome when sun goes down. Master is very private and away from the hustle of the house.

just what we needed
great location (proximity to market, beach, marina) & great views. views from the middle level are wonderful and the crow's nest on the 3rd floor is an added bonus. the house is well cared for, organized, and with quality accessories in the kitchen, bathrooms, and everywhere in between. it is obvious that the owners take great pride in the ownership of the house. we come to bald head every year and this house ranks at the top of our list; we will absolutely stay here again!

Great House Dream Location
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the house. Very comfortable home with many luxury touches. Upper deck is the best view of Ocean as well as outdoor shower has HOT and cold running water --- so nice. All bedrooms were very nice so no one felt like they got the short end of the stick. I would definitely rent again. Added bonus owners are super friendly too!

This is a beautiful home with gorgeous beach views and fabulous porches. I have rented several houses on BHI in the past 10 years, and this one has quickly become our family's favorite. The ocean views are truly rare for BHI, as the house is situated on a gentle curve of the coastline allowing for more expansive beach and water views. Additionally, the upstairs porch is higher than most BHI porches and provides for a truly exceptional vista.
The quality of the furnishings indoors and out, as well as all linens, is excellent. The outside shower is a treat, and the grills were in good working condition. My only wish list item would be to add a traditional glass window to the window-sized opening in the upstairs bedroom to help with the noise from below.
The owner is incredibly professional, pleasant and responsive. I can't say enough good things about our overall experience, and we definitely hope to rent this home in the future.

Picture perfect relaxation
This house has it all — unbelievable beachfront views from multiple decks, super comfy accommodations, and well-stocked everything (there are more towels, chairs, boogyboards and gas grills than you will probably ever need!)
The house is in an ideal location near the market but in a quiet cul de sac. Hugh was super responsive to questions and even let us keep our bags at the place and use the porch post checkout for a few hours since we booked a later ferry.
Highly recommend and looking to come back next year!

Comfort and convenience
We so enjoyed our stay at BHI. The location of this home is perfect; you can see and hear the ocean from the many decks, it's directly across from the beach access, and it's also right at the bottom of Maritime Way - a quick jaunt to the grocery store. The owners have outfitted the home with everything: towels (an abundance in every bathroom), beach towels, chairs and beach gear, and more dishes and utensils than any large group would need. The kitchen has every small electric you could want (even a rice cooker!), along with tons of glasses, several full sets of dishes and a variety of cooking utensils. You seldom find a rental that supports real cooking at the beach. I always bring my own knives, but other than that, the house had it all. The dining room seated our crowd of 8 comfortably, with perfect views of the ocean. The owner, Hugh, was also quick to respond to questions and requests, and was kind and flexible. The house is comfortable and cozy. If you're looking for "fancy", this isn't it. But comfortable and easy, a resounding yes. One word of caution about the upstairs bedroom: it has an open "window" with only a pull-down shade for privacy and sound control. The window is directly over the family room, so if your group has some late-night folks and someone is trying to sleep upstairs, that will be an issue. You also can hear conversations from that bedroom downstairs in the family room. An easy solution would be to install some safety glass in that little window for better privacy and elimination of sound. Aside from that, we were completely delighted with the home and appreciated the obvious attention to carefree, ease of use the owners have put into the home.

Excellent Home on BHI
We have stayed on Bald Head four times, now; and this was our most pleasant stay thus far. The host and owner of the property is excellent all around. He sent weather updates and had fantastic communication as well as being kind and a wealth of helpful information. The home is in an ideal location just steps away from the dune walkover. The home is clean, thoughtfully appointed with comfortable beds, quality linens, nice lighting, quality hand soaps, has a great layout allowing for good flow as well as privacy while making the best use of natural light. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you’ll need. We visited the Maritime Market and cooked almost all our meals in-house and I was pleasantly surprised to have everything I needed for food prep and to cook. I can’t say enough positive things about both this home and the owner/host. We loved watching sunsets from the balcony as the kids ate ice cream sundaes and storytelling under the starry sky as we listened to the waves. Watching a pod of dolphins off the shoreline was a cherry on the top of the experience for our happy crew! Thank you, Hugh! You have a magical spot nestled on beautiful BHI.

Hurricanes, tornadoes, and fun fun fun! We absolutely loved use property. Stay there seem to make all the bad stuff in the world go away. He was very helpful to us. We helped bring in the furniture from the porch for the hurricane and really enjoyed sitting on the front porch every evening watching the waves One of our best vacations ever!
