About this house rental
Located in Staatsburg, this lovely house for $3,832 per night is a great option for your next break. Classic Upstate NY Country Estate A one km drive through the woods, past on old 1700s barn and pond and up to the main house, this home was originally an inn built in the 1700s and reputed to have had George Washington as a guest. A 29 acre estate with pool and multiple entertaining areas and a large country kitchen, the house is an expansive and unique home that provides the ultimate upstate New York living, with the Culinary Institute of America a ten minute drive away as well as picturesque Rhinebeck with its many high end restaurants. For those looking for an upstate/dutchess county getaway for the family, just two hours drive or train from New York City, this is a truly unique gem of a property. The long drive through the woods to get to the house provides the privacy and romantic setting that is quite unique and is a tremendous experience, no matter what the season! The 7 bedroom, 5 bath, 10,000 sq. ft. property is a piece of American history, with a hand-chiseled triple height barn and numerous old fireplaces, yet has been modernized to have the amenities and comforts of a 21st century home. In the house, the entertainment space is second to none. Enter to a vast open floor main reception space lit by delicate chandeliers. The delightfully furnished room has a fireplace, piano, and dining area with a long wooden table that can seat 10. Guests References “ We enjoyed a long, early October weekend at Hendricks House Estate and were blown away. This historic property is beautiful inside and out and has been meticulously maintained and updated. There are plenty of rooms to gather in small groups and large (we celebrated my wife’s 40th birthday with 4 other couples). We played games fireside in the Red Room after dinner, had leisurely (and bountiful!) breakfasts in the kitchen, watched baseball in the family room and even made decadent S’more’s (homemade graham crackers!) one evening at the fire pit. We swam in the heated pool and slept well in the very comfortable beds. There is plenty to do in the surrounding towns if you feel like venturing off the property – we had a few very nice meals, had some excellent hikes and even went archering. If you’re looking for a large house in a private setting with attentive staff this is the home for you! Mathew Means and Family One week Rental October 2018 Dutchess County elegance beyond your wildest dreams Having fallen in love with Hendricks House after seeing the photos, we sensibly dialled down our excitement levels and prepared ourselves for disappointment as we rounded the final corner of the lovely 1 km long driveway. As the house came into view, jaws dropped commensurately with the palpable rise in excitement. This is a stunningly beautiful property, just... STUNNING. Like a grand dame, dressed in her white finery, the house commands your gaze falls upon it. Large but by no means ridiculously so, every room in the house is blessed with sympathetic interior design, reflecting the date of the property (late 18th century) yet with contemporary country touches everywhere that make a house a home. The gardens at Hendricks House are, as with all great houses, an extension of the interior. Thoughtful in planning, excellent in execution, a lot of time and effort has clearly gone into the landscaping. Two beautiful ponds form the focal point, with a Monet-esque bridge joining them, and colourful planting adorn the borders and urns to soften the verdant backdrop of the distant woods. At night, from your stone terraced seating area, set as if centre stage in the garden, a hundred twinkly lights illuminate one's entire field of view. So pretty is this IMAXian effect that, after a few sundowners, one could easily imagine having died and gone to heaven! The pool area is very pretty and laps up to a summer kitchen/dining space that has everything you need for dining with family and friends. Even poolside, portable, bluetooth speakers were provided enabling our teenage girls to 'crank up da beats' and imagine they were partying with the Kardashians (God forbid!). So, please don't book this place, don't even think about it. It is clearly not for you because my family and I would very much like to return and, if it becomes too popular, it may be a very longtime before we do. ” Marcus Vere and family July 2017 Rental The home and grounds are architectural digest quality and the area offered much to see and enjoy. This is a stunning, old home sitting on an equally stunning property. Our group of 4 couples spent 4 nights here and would have loved to stay even longer. The location is great. It is in easy walking distance to River and Post, where we had an awesome dinner, and to Mills Norrie State Park where we did some hiking. It is also just a quick drive to Rhinebeck and Hyde Park. So much to see and do in the area. The house is so amazing that we loved spending time together at home. The owner and the local caretaker were great with communication and made us feel very welcome at the home. We would return in a heartbeat.

This house has it all and we cannot wait to come back. We celebrated my parents 40th wedding anniversary weekend with a large group of siblings and grandchildren; and the house was everything we could have hoped for (and much more!!!). The pool was heavenly for all the kids; the barn was such a nice addition for a change of scene; the great room and the basement media room were where we spent much of our time... and the outdoor spaces just kept going! We were able to utilize every inch of the house and still feel spread out... and we left saying that we can't wait to rent again. The hosts and their caretaker are so lovely. Can't say enough good things about Hendricks House :)

We had a multi generational family celebration at this gorgeous home in Dutchess County. We really loved the gorgeous landscaping, the morning visits from the heron and seeing the hummingbirds and baby deer and everyone loved the sparkling heated pool. The home is beautiful and it fit our group aged 3 to 63 perfectly. The home is in a great location with great access to Rhinebeck and Kingston and the not to be missed restaurant within walking distance, River and Post. Stunning decor but very warm and welcoming. Thank you to Muriel, the care taker for all of your help. We had a wonderful time. We hope to come back soon.

The property is utterly perfect for a large family group. Beautifully maintained and furnished. The large barn serves as a fabulous TV room for after dinner movies. The pool and gardens are gorgeous. Classic Hudson Valley. Relaxing and rejuvenating. Rent this place. You will not regret it.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful VRBO home in Staatsburg, NY. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the grandeur and charm of this American version of a 19th century English manor house.
First and foremost, the size of the house was absolutely perfect for our group. With plenty of rooms and spacious common areas, we felt like we had our own private retreat. The bedrooms were comfortable, and the tastefully decorated interiors exuded elegance and vintage charm.
One of the highlights of our stay was the fantastic pool. The crystal-clear water and surrounding lounge chairs provided the perfect spot for relaxation and soaking up the sun. It truly felt like our own private oasis.
The kitchen, equipped with modern appliances and ample counter space, it catered to our every culinary need. Cooking meals together as a family was a joy, with plenty of room for multiple chefs.
A special shoutout to Muriel, as her warm welcome and hospitality made our stay even more memorable. She was readily available to address any questions or concerns we had, and her knowledge of the house and the surrounding area was invaluable. Muriel truly went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
Overall, our experience at this VRBO home in Staatsburg, NY, was nothing short of exceptional. Thank you Carter and Carmen for allowing us to stay. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a luxurious and unforgettable getaway

We had a lovely stay with extended family. Enjoyed the pool and bbq-ing outdoors. Setting was gorgeous for morning coffee and afternoon swims. Lovely location and close to restaurants and shops.

We had a family & friend get together for a milestone birthday gathering and chose this house because of proximity to NYC and sleeping accommodations.
The house and grounds are absolutely STUNNING BEAUTIFUL. The size of the house is large enough to easily accommodate 12+ adults plus children if we had any with us. The pool, porch, patio and fire pit area extends to living space and hang out areas. All of which are comfortable & cozy. There is also a huge outdoor bbq area that is covered.
The host - Carter - is amazing in answering questions and messages ASAP. Very helpful in preparing the house. We had an elderly person with us and they built a ramp to help with the wheelchair. Same with the on-site person, Muriel. She made the check in process seamless and helped with additional information during our stay. We had forgotten our tennis racquets when we left and they found and send it to us immediately. I can't say I've ever had a better host and care-taker.
I would highly recommend this house and the host.

Our extended family just experienced one of our best family weekends ever at this beautiful house, with its 29 surrounding acres. Everything about our stay was delightful—from the wonderful interior design of the house itself to the green and lovely country setting. We are happy and grateful and hope to return soon. Many thanks from all of us to the caretaker and the owner

Our family just spent an entire week at this lovely, historic property. Our two children, their spouses, and our three grandchildren (ages 1, 4, and 8) were with us. Everyone had a terrific experience. The pool is a big bonus! The house is nicely appointed and stocked. The location is well situated for daytrips to various points for our family members with different interests from shopping to museums. I enjoyed being outside reading my history books on the various porches and seating areas. What few problems arose were quickly resolved by Muriel, the excellent caretaker for the property. She is now kindly in the process of returning a number of items we left behind. The owner also extended various courtesies to us. It was a priceless vacation we will not forget ; well, maybe the 1-year old will - :).

Incredible House
What an excellent property! This is the most tender loving care I've ever seen put into a rental home. Elite/expert renovation and design for an 18th century manor; this property clearly fell into the perfect hands to take care of it. I had a wonderful week with family at this house, which is just about the coziest and most elegant place you could find yourself in cold or rainy weather. Excellent grounds and pool as well, though we were there in winter. Perfect location among great hikes and original robber baron mansions that are now state parks. Coudln't give it a higher recommendation.

If you love historic houses, you'll love this!
What an amazing property. Beautiful grounds (even in winter). Nicely renovated historic inn from the 1700s. The core of the house has original walls, doors, floors. The newer additions stay in keeping with tone while providing new bathrooms, sleeping areas. Well decorated. Entertainment barn was great for getting out of the house but staying on property.

A charming old house, lavishly decorated but clearly lived in by a family. We had beautiful weather, so were able to enjoy a day by the pool, a hike along the river in the nearby park ( which also has a playground), a stroll to the nearby restaurant River and Post, s’mores by the fire pit , movie night in the barn, mornings reading on the porches, and meals in the several different dining areas. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, the multiple sitting arrangements inviting, the grounds and gardens perfectly kept.
That said, we pointed out a few fixable problems. Slow drains, a TV in the master bedroom which didn’t work for lack of an Apple TV unit, a dishwasher that needed replacement, trouble with the electronics and no instructions to guide us, absent or difficult to find settings for the tables ie placemats, napkins.
Nevertheless, our family’s great enjoyment of this property made the price worth it. From age 5 to 77 we give it five stars.
A big thank you to Carter and Carmen!

We loved this house!!! the property managers were amazing and every part of the space was breathtaking. The owner of the house was extremely responsive and made sure we were set up perfectly. The barn provided a rustic, comfortable, distraction-free spot for productive meetings. The main house was a, ideal spot for meals and socializing when the workday was done. We will absolutely consider it for a future meeting/vacation.

We celebrated my father's 80th bday there...we had a great time, the place exceeded our expectations. We had dinner in three different areas of the house inside and out over our 4 night stay. We love to cook and there was a great kitchen as well as a great place to have drinks at the end of the night in the red fireplace room. Kids loved the pool. Very close to rhinebeck which is a great town. The owner and staff that greeted us were great!

Absolutely gorgeous and cozy ......
It was in the winter so we didn't get to really take advantage of the entire property but the house itself was gorgeous! Every room was so unique and perfectly decorated to really show off the history of the house.....and make you feel like you were "home". We lit fires only to enhance the comfiness of the rooms. The outdoor spaces were perfect for the guys to go out and sit with warm blankets over their laps. The kitchen was perfect for the chef......and really comfortable sitting areas that didn't make people feel like they were on top of each other. It really was the perfect house for everyone. Thank YOU for letting us stay and share your home! Can't wait to return to the area!

Great overall experience.
This property is fantastic. The house is charming & authentic; but also renovated to a great standard. Unusual to find a house that thoughtfully renovated/decorated in a rental. The grounds large & tastefully landscaped... great for large family gatherings to spend time both inside & outside. Owner & manager were both very responsive. Overall a great overall experience.
