Our guests love the privacy at Retreat-and also love being only 8 minutes from the town of Bryson City. Recent guests wrote in our guest book.... “Walking into Retreat is like walking into a big warm hug”. In addition to the view of miles of mountains with gorgeous sunsets , what makes Retreat in the Sky so special is the screened porch with hot tub inside. That means you can enjoy the hot tub rain or shine, anytime of year. It also means you’re safe from bugs and outside critters. Whether you're sport enthusiasts wanting to be located in the hub of all the Smoky Mountain activities... or first or second time honeymooners, celebrating your wedding anniversary or birthday and hoping for that very special place... or vacationers/seniors looking for rest and relaxation at an incredibly beautiful vacation home....we offer it all..... Sitting close to the top of Bear Cove Mountain, our guests enjoy our private location...in the very heart of the Smoky Mountains. We offer a fire log burning fireplace, a large deck with a swing to enjoy the beautiful view and an outdoor fire pit for those wonderful campfires (and we supply the wood). Retreat is centrally located for ALL of the Smoky Mountain activities!! We offer a great location. Just minutes to Bryson City, the Gateway to the Smokies... the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad... Fontana Lake, a beautiful mountain lake where you can swim, fish, and rent a pontoon boat for half or the entire day... the Nantahala Outdoor Center for whitewater rafting, ziplining, horseback riding, biking, and fun restaurants... Cherokee, you can try your luck at Harrah's Casino... Deep Creek for tubing, hiking, and picnics...the Smoky Mountain Country Club which is a beautiful mountain course and open to the public....the Blue Ridge Parkway...where is there a more beautiful drive??? And maybe best of all... Ingles Supermarket is only five minutes away. Bryson City has an elevation of 1,752 feet. Consider this your starting point as the elevation in Bear Cove is much higher. Bear Cove Road is probably steeper and curvier than what you’re used to. Our driveway is steep with a sharp turn but paved and you do not need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We ask our guests to exercise caution with snow and ice and make plans to wait for melting to occur. Consider this part of the charm of being in the mountains. But...if you're looking for complete seclusion, getting totally away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life...and doing nothing more than relaxing, reading a good book and enjoying being alone together...You will love Retreat in the Sky...the view is majestic and the only neighbors are the birds and occasional wild turkeys that come to visit.. We booked a couple months earlier and were looking forward to the getaway. The owners were awesome all the way through in communication and making sure we were happy. The views from the property are outstanding and the home itself is comfy and cozy. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much.

This is truly an amazing cabin high in the mountains. It is so cozy and comfortable with everything you need for a great stay. We enjoyed the fireplace and of course the peacefulness. Sandy was a very considerate friendly host who made sure we had everything we needed. She and her family made this cabin into a lovely home and I am happy they shared it with us.

This cabin on the side of a mountain truly is a retreat in the sky! We felt like we were in the clouds- it was beautiful and relaxing and well equipped. We had a couple of issues that Sandy addressed well. The sunsets were lovely on the deck and the town of Bryson City was charming to explore. We loved our dinner at the Bistro at Hotel Everett and the Food Truck outside the brewery in town was exceptional for lunch. Thanks for your hospitality, Sandy.

This cabin is exceptionally clean and well furnished. The hot tub is in a screened in porch, so it can be enjoyed even if the weather does not cooperate. The view is beautiful.

Peace with nature, if you look and listen.
Beautifully furnished and well equipped home, with everything you could possibly need at “your” home. It was the first house that we’ve been to, through VRBO, with everything we needed-plus, for our stay.
You will learn why they call this the Smoky Mountains, because of the view from this the house.
This home and location was exactly what we needed after a stressful couple of years in South Louisiana. (Hurricane Ida, Cancer & COVID-19)

The listing does not even do it justice. Once you get by the drive up the mountain, the cabin and view are fabulous. Well appointed, wanted for nothing. Great hosts and had a great time. Went with my sister and her husband so it was 4 of us. The view is still in our minds eye! Thank you

We stayed for 5 nights and what a fantastic getaway! It was really cold while we were there, but with the fireplace, it helped keep the cabin warm and made us that much more relaxed. The cabin is really well-furnished and there is about everything you would need in terms of amenities, such as towels, toiletries, a great little kitchen with plenty of dishes and utensils.
What's really nice is that the drive is short into Bryson City, yet you would never know you were that close to any city at all. The elevation of the cabin is just over 2600 feet and tucked away in the trees and impressive mountains.
Kudos to Sandy as this place is a true gem and there's a good chance we will be back to visit again!

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely, clean and comfy cabin in the woods. The beds were very comfortable, and all kitchen supplies are there to use. The host is exceptionally nice and easy to contact. The views are outstanding, and the cabin is in a great location for all that we wanted to do. It is convenient to Ingles grocery store, hiking trails, a winery, and Darnell farms. We mainly hiked, cooked in and enjoyed the views. We had a great time and hope to return to this perfect get away in the mountains.

Very Nice Stay at Retreat
We really enjoyed our stay. Sandy is a wonderful host. The view was magnificent. The hot tub was relaxing. If you are up for climbing the little mountain to the Retreat, we highly recommend, as the views, peace, and relaxation are wonderful.

Long weekend getaway
Very easy renting the property. The view was beyond amazing as was the property itself. Short drive to Bryson City and Smoky Mountain National Park. Lots of things to see and do.

From the back deck it makes you feel as if you are up in the clouds. Sandy and Ty were so helpful from the start in sharing information with us about the area, shops, restaurants, attractions. They answered promptly when ai had a question about anything. Everything that you can possibly need is at the cabin. It is fully furnished with a completely stocked kitchen, lovely bedrooms with comfy bedding and of course the hot tub on the screened in porch. It is a totally secluded property, which is so nice. Kitchen well-stocked, beds were comfortable and the bedroom in the loft had a beautiful view of the mountains. (as well as the living room) There were many items sitting around. We just moved while we were there and moved back before leaving. We took many backroads to experience the mountains, streams and nature.

The place is better than the pictures. Very private and so well decorated. My wife said she felt hugged when we walked in the door. The place is simply cozy. We wanted to watch an important ballgame and discovered it was not available! A text to the owner and 20 minutes later the owner had contacted the satellite company and we had a new channel and a new friend! We will go back

No matter when you travel, there will always be a great spot on this property to hang out. The design of this cabin was well thought out and is functional for every season. The covered porch with hot tub is perfect rain or shine or even snow! An open porch with a swing is the perfect relaxation spot for warm or cool days and you can enjoy the birds, squirrels and foliage as well as sunsets. Want an outdoor fire? Settle in around the fire pit and enjoy roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. If you are chilly in inclement weather, lounge inside in front of cozy fireplace. You can still take a dip in the hot tub and then head in to a toasty warm living room with the ambeance of a fire. We enjoyed our stay so much here and could easily have lounged around the cabin and never left. In fact we have booked a second stay here next year and will definitely designate days with no adventures and just rest and enjoy the peaceful solace of the cabin. Kudos to the hosts for having plenty of towels, spices and condiments galore and kitchen cooking essentials. This property is a gem as well as the host!

Absolutely loved this property. Very cozy, cute, and well decorated. Immediately felt inviting from the porch and that carried through. Well stocked with everything needed. The hot tub worked flawlessly. Very clean. The owners have many personal items in the cabin which add to the experience. I truly cannot say enough good about this pproperty.
