Nestled in Peaks Island, this attractive cottage for $433 per night is a great choice for your next break. We are already dreaming about SUMMER 2023 and will begin accepting reservations after JANUARY 1, 2023. We look forward to hearing from you at the beginning of the new year. We would like to welcome you to our traditional Maine cottage. A cottage with contemporary comforts within the heritage and charm of our much loved family cottage, which is over 100 years young. Within this charming cottage we have added WiFi, cable, new mattresses and painted beadboard downstairs and upstairs. This is a home for vacation living in comfort. We are truly on the peak of Peaks Is. Morning coffee is best enjoyed on the sunny front porch where you can welcome the day and say hello to the neighbors. However end of day wine should be savored on the screened porch in the late afternoon watching the sunset It is from the screened porch, as well as the house that one has breath taking views of Portland, Portland Harbor, other islands and on a clear day Mt. Washington. The cottage faces west so the view each evening is of the sunset, sometimes turning the land and water to rose sometimes to gold. We have a large eat in kitchen, a dining room and a living room, with lots of book shelves filled with choices to meet everyone's interest. The first floor bathroom has a claw foot tub and is off the kitchen. Up-stairs are three bedrooms, one king bed one queen bed and third with twin beds. The full bath with a shower and separate tub. Our cottage is a ten minute walk from the ferry and the island shops and library. It is a few houses from the school yard, which has a playground and basketball court. It is also only a short walk, or bike ride, to the island clubhouse for children's camp, tennis or sailing. We also have a good sized yard for playing ball. This is the perfect family vacation spot. Jean was very responsive and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable.

We had the most spectacular stay at the cottage! There are such beautiful views and the cottage is so convenient to the ferry and restaurants. Jean was so lovely and helpful. The house was clean and spacious. We can’t thank the family enough for such a wonderful time and hope to be back next year for a longer stay.

Lovely cottage with plenty of room for 6 adults. It was a bit chilly over our Late Sept stay, but there were a couple heaters that kept the place cozy. Hope to be back to visit the island soon!

Peaks Island is a wonderful respite from what ever ails ya. Wonderful cottage in the true “Mainah” style. Well maintained rustic cottage with a true feeling of the Peaks experience. Located on a lovey street that offers the best sun sets of any season. Nicely appointed with typical cottage furnishing, which is something from everyone in my experience. All fitting nicely together for a very comfortable well kept place to call home for a few days. Would come back again.

Such a quaint place. Perfect location… about 1/2 mile from the ferry landing. Beautiful view of the water from the back porch of the house. House is from the 1800’s and has so many old features that make it such a “cottage” feeling. Beds were comfortable and hosts were great to communicate with. Would definitely return here for a future stay and would recommend.

Lovely
Though the outside is a bit shabby, it belies the incredibly tidy and clean interior with charming but not cluttered antiques. An amazing sunset view from the back of the house was so welcome at the end of days exploring the beaches. Highly recommend. * You do have to rent sheets but it was not hard!

Peaks House comfortable and great location.
We had a delightful time at the Gulliver’s house on Peak’s Island.
We took full advantage of coffee on the sunny east porch, every morning, and the west screened in porch and outdoor sitting area an awesome perch to gather to relax read and watch the ebb and flow of the Casco Bay tides and nightly sunsets.
The house was clean, comfortable and roomy.
We loved you could ride our bikes everywhere and stop and rest and take the time to soak up the peace and quiet.

It’s a beautiful home, that you’ll wish could be your own
It’s a rustic antique home that has all the charm of a New England large cabin. It’s feels like the Escape you’ve been dreaming of

The Gulliver Cottage sits atop a quiet hill with a lovely view down to Casco Bay. Furnishings are vintage and the cottage is a throwback that blends seamlessly with the experience of Peaks Island itself. The screened-in back porch was a favorite, cool and bug free. Plenty of space for our family of six. The cottage is centrally situated, a short walk to town, beaches and other attractions.

Peaks Island cottage
Lovely location overlooking the water. Fun older cottage, with a wonderful screened porch. Biggest complaint concerns the second floor bedrooms. The walls are paper thin and you have to walk through the master bedroom to get to the only shower.

Once again a great get away. Introduced two new friends to this wonderful cottage. Jean is a delight and I enjoyed my conversation with her husband John telling me the history of the family cottage. Looking forward to next year already! Deb

Perfect spot!
I came to this delightful home with my brother and his family for a few days away. My brother and I had vacationed on Peaks Island as children and had not returned in decades. We had a wonderful trip and the Gulliver's charming home really made it special. We highly recommend this beautiful location.

Nice cottage, plenty of room, responsive owners. Have to provide your own sheets and towels, a pain.
The cottage was nice and served my purposes just fine. The owners were responsive to questions, which is important. I enjoyed sitting in a lawn chair in the back yard just gazing out to sea. Drawbacks were: 1) this thing with having to provide your own sheets and towels is a ridiculous nuisance that I've never come across before anywhere in the world, but apparently it is fairly typical on Peaks Island; 2) I couldn't find any heat in the cottage, which I could have used because it was getting chilly; guess I could have called the owners; they did provide lots of blankets, so it was snug in bed. All things considered, this was pretty good. The cottage is about five or six blocks from the ferry, so walkable if you don't feel like renting a golf cart. Not much use in paying the steep ferry fare to bring a car over to the island. Cheers!

Peaceful & picturesque island with fun things to do!
We really enjoyed our stay on quiet Peaks Island with our family and 90 year old grandmother. The 100 year old house is charming and has a nice view of the ocean and the actual beach where you can swim. I did wear a thin wet suit to swim "laps" parallel to the shore and loved it. You can walk down to the beach through the back yard and walk to town in just 8 minutes. The restaurant the Cock Eyed Gull has fabulous food for foodies, just make a reservation. The ice cream shop has delicious and innovative flavors. An important note, if you want a week long rental golf cart book it months ahead of time when you book the house. They are reserved very early. You can do impromtu daily rentals fairly easily. If you bring your car, the ferry is $72 round trip so you won't want to go back & forth with your car a lot. We did leave the island with our car 1x to visit Booth Bay Harbor. the other trips we just rode the ferry as passagers. For those who love to run or walk for exercise, it's only 2 1/2 miles around the entire island. The backshore is just beautiful with rocky coasts. Definitely see it with your car, golf cart, rental bike or on foot. It is so lovely to totally leave city life and enjoy the island pace. Portland has tons of land and sea tours. Our favorite was the sunset tour of the lighthouses. So plan your logistics with transportation and enjoy a wonderful vacation.

Lovely Maine cottage
We just finished our third stay here in this lovely old Maine retreat. We love coming here. The cottage is comfortable and charming, is convenient to everything and has great views of Casco Bay. We can enjoy the quiet island life and still have all that Old Port has to offer nearby. Who could ask for more? We are looking forward to our next visit!

This home is a bit of a trip back in time structurally, but very comfortable and homey. The view
of Casco Bay is stupendous. You can choose to relax and enjoy it from the screened porch,
from the dining room, or from the lush back yard. A short walk to town brings you to bike rentals,
restaurants, the ice cream store, or kayak rentals. Take the ferry back to Portland for lots of shopping,
sailing, museums and other pleasures within walking distance. Peaks Island itself is rich with natural beauty and
eco-adventure. Bring your camera and binoculars! I'm looking forward to staying here again.

Lovely, rustic Peaks Island cottage - perfect for our trip to the island for a family wedding. Spacious and sweet, with a relaxing atmosphere and nice far water view. From the moment you enter the cottage, you feel like you have come home to a family space.

My family and I just spent the most amazing vacation on Peaks and this cottage was terrific! The owners Jean and John were so helpful and friendly, answering all our questions before and during our stay at their charming, comfortable cottage.
It is perfectly and conveniently located about a ten minute walk from the grocery store, post office, ferry, stores and restaurants on Peaks. It's only about a two minute walk to the beach too.
The cottage was very clean and completely equipped with everything our family needed during our stay, including a barbecue that we used many times. The rooms are all nicely decorated with many family photos and mementos. There's also a large screened in porch on the back of the house where we enjoyed many meals. It's also the perfect spot in the house to watch the lovely sunsets each night over Casco Bay.
The lilac bush at the front of the cottage was in full bloom so we cut fresh flowers and put them all over the house so we could enjoy that lovely scent all week.
There are also games, puzzles and playing cards there which we used all week.
This cottage certainly was full of "sunshine and laughter" the entire week we were there and we won't stay anywhere else when we return to Peaks!
Thanks Jean and John!!

This cottage is everything that has been promised. If you love an old Maine experience, there is no better place to stay on Peaks Island. The wood, the antiques, the storybook feel, the view, the neighborhood, the location are all perfect. Our son was married at The Inn on Peaks on a Sunday afternoon. What a wonderful weekend! Thank you!

My husband and I spent two weeks in this cottage. If you are an 'antique lover" and want to have an experience of what it might have been like yesteryear on Peaks , this is the vacation rental for you. The best part of this home is the location, because it is central, so is a 10 minute walk to the ferry and the stores, but is only about 15 minutes through a lovely residential area, and you are on the back shore.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and kind, anything that we needed, or questions we had, they immediately responsed. Th rent was quite reasonable for 'in between seasons" . It has a good view of the bay side from the back screened in porch yet was only another short 10-15 minute walk to the back shore (I bet there was a shorter route too) . In May the lilacs and the lovely perrennials were an added feature. We also met some really neat 'Islanders" in the neighborhood.
If you want an authentic Island home, with beadboard walls in their original condition, with a feel for another time, with plenty of antiques, and books lining the walls for avid readers, this would be the house for you. Very cozy.

This cottage exceeded our expectations. Not only is it incredibly charming (my seven-year-old described it "like a storybook") but the cottage is well-equipped and very clean. There were six of us in all and we had plenty of room to relax and play. The living room and dining rooms were particularly charming (full Iof interesting treasures, books and puzzles). There is also a large screened-in porch that leads to the backyard, which overlooks a beautiful meadow and the harbor. The neighbors were super-friendly. One even invited us in after we admired her beautiful piano playing. Both the center of town, the ferry, restaurants and the beach are within walking distance of the house. The owners were very accommodating as well while allowing us lots of privacy. On a particularly hot day, they even invited us to use their private beach while they were away in Portland. I am already thinking about returning next year!

We spent 4 nights/5 days at this pleasant island cottage. We vacationed as children on the island and knew it well. The house was lovely and clean and well maintained and the kitchen equipped. We loved the dining room for meals and the sreened porch in the back for reading. It was about a 15 minute walk from the ferry. We did not think the water views from the house were as expansive as the photos indicate. The owner was very helpful answering all our questions. We had a nice stay. Thanks!
