About this cabin rental
One of 3 luxury cabins on 10 acres. This elegant cabin, nestled in HighRock Acres, has a long range mountain view. The property has a bonfire pit, large pond, hammock, horseshoe game, picnic tables, long running creek, walking trails with all the comforts of home. It's a perfect getaway for those that love nature, while still only minutes to quaint historic downtown Black Mountain and Asheville. The cabin has 3 bedrooms, 4 baths, fully equipped large kitchen with double oven, dine-in wine cellar, bumper pool table, ping-pong table, shuffleboard table, arcade machine, fireplace, flat screen televisions, DVD, washer/dryer, free long distance phone service, free Internet service, a large deck with Jacuzzi, grill and much more. Perfect location for a multiple families or groups traveling together; Walking distance to HighRock Preserve, Highrock Haven, Highrock Meadow & Mitchell view. During mid December through the month of February, we do require 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive in case of snow and ice conditions. We can never predict the weather and some years it's hit or miss. We thoroughly clean and wash all bedding and towels between each stay. We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces as well (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in! Outdoor Recreation: Outdoor recreation and outdoor adventures are seemingly endless in the Western North Carolina mountains, the outdoor playground of the Southeast along with the conveniences of city life. Acclaimed by numerous magazines as a top outdoor adventure destination. Take a walk through historic downtown Black Mountain and discover numerous upscale gift shops, galleries and Appalachian-style craft stores. From the most upscale cuisine to country cooking and BBQ, the area is home to over forty restaurants sure to please any palate. Beautiful location with fall foliage and mountain views. Close to the town of Black Mountain and Montreat. 20 miles to Chimney Rock State Park. We found this to be a perfect relaxing getaway location. The brisk mountain air made evenings in the hot tub so relaxing. We will return next year!

This was our second stay at Highrock cabins and it was again wonderful. We rented 3 cabins and had a large group. We love the views, hiking trails, and property. The fire pit and tire swing add a bit of extra fun. The property manager is amazing and responded quickly when we had a question and needed a quick repair. Although it is nice to “unplug” it would be helpful if the wi-fi were a bit more reliable. Overall I definitely recommend and we would visit again!

Perfect getaway! The cabin itself is amazing. Everything was clean and organized when we arrived. The property offered a breathtaking view of nature at its finest. I had a 2WD car and made it up the gravel road without any issues. Overall highly recommend this for all!!

The cabin was perfect! We cooked all but one meal in the well-stocked kitchen. We are slept like a dream! Beds were extra comfy. We used the hot tub nightly and played with all the toys in the basement. Everything was in working order and ready! One caution: the road is steep in places and gravel. None of us had all-wheel or 4 wheel drive but if you do, highly recommend you bring that vehicle. The road is well-maintained and the cabin is tucked away peacefully.

We had a group of friends stay the weekend for one of our birthdays. The cabin was very clean and spacious. The kitchen supplies and appliances were very accommodating. There were also extra blankets and a spare air mattress. Beach towels were provided for the hot tub though there were not many extra bath towels/rags. We were able to arrange drivers to transport us one night though they were not enthused with the distance so it was a bit expensive but not outrageous.
Only major downfall is the fire pit is not located at the cabin. The only one I saw was down the hill by the pond on a tiny island.

We love Black Mountain. The Retreat feels like our home away from home. After many years of coming up here it never disappoints! If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind, I highly recommend!!

Wanted to enjoy a cold Christmas in the mountains and that is exactly what we had. Cabin was well appointed, property manager was always attentive when needed and the location was far enough from the main city but close enough to be convenient. Have been many times up to Western North Carolina but first time in Black Mountain. Enjoyed my stay, location and property. Plenty to see if you want to stay close and walk around area. Owner’s were great and very responsive as well.

We had a great time celebrating our family Christmas here. The view from the deck is incredible and the game room is so fun. Plenty of room for our family of 6.
Also, the property manager, Michelle, is top notch. She was incredibly responsive and so helpful.

Cabin overall was okay, but the long drive up mountain roads was gravel in poor condition with washboard and some wash outs

This is the 3rd time renting this property. It was another great trip. We love Black Mountain and the spectacular views. We love the town and all the great restaurants. The owner and property manager were great as always. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing trip to the mountains.

We found the pictures a little misleading about where the pond/fire pit area was in relation to this certain cabin. Although still on the property, when we looked through the pictures we thought it was closer and you actually have to walk down a gravel path past the other two cabins to access that area . Not a huge deal, but I didn’t think that was real clear from the photos so just wanted to point that out for others.

Family vacation
Property was absolutely beautiful, very well kept and stocked with a variety of dishes pots and pans. The road to the property is a graveled road and bumpy but we mastered it after a couple of times!!! The hot tub was certainly a plus! The trails around the cabin were perfect for morning strolls. And the game room provided plenty of family fun. Last, the property manager was very helpful with answering all of our questions and needs!! Definitely recommended and hope to be back soon.

Great Family Vacation!
We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was beautiful. It was well maintained, very clean, and had a great view! This was close to downtown Black Mountain which we enjoyed visiting the local shops and dining.

We stayed for just about 2 weeks in June of 2022. The property is exactly as advertised. The owner and property manager were very responsive and helpful. The house was clean, well kept, well stocked, and made for a great family vacation. Couple of thoughts to keep in mind
- only Verizon cell service seems to work on this side of the mountain.
- the internet is satellite based (expected given rural location) and slower than most folks encounter in urban areas. Plan other options if you’re needing high speed for work
- as some indicated, the entrance roads are steep and mostly gravel. They are well kept and safe, but I can understand pointing out the difficult road conditions if you’re not used to driving like that. A couple of times up and down the mountain and we were pros. The neighborhood is also great at grading them regularly.
Overall highly recommend. We will be going back for sure.

Amazing
Our family had an amazing stay at this property. It was perfect for adventure and relaxation. Black Mountain is such a great area for all kinds of activities. On this trip, we hiked the area, relaxed around the pond on the hammock, and did some sight seeing in downtown Asheville. We took advantage of the hot tub, game room, wine room, and kitchen the most in this luxury cabin. We would absolutely stay at this property again and again!
