About this house rental
This jewel of a Puget Sound island, only a 20-minute ferry boat ride from West Seattle or a ten-minute ride from Tacoma, is a paradise getaway from the bustle of urban life. The house, comfortable but elegant, features a wide deck where you can relax and contemplate the breathtaking, panoramic view of the Quarter Master Harbor inlet crisscrossed by sailboats, kayakers, paddleboarders and rowers as well as powerboats of all sizes. The deck provides a magical location for sipping a glass of wine at sunset. A luxurious hot tub, with a view of the inlet, resides on the patio off the main bedroom with privacy guaranteed by Secret Garden. Follow the 50 stairs down to the beach where the gazebo is the perfect place for a picnic, reading a book, sipping a glass of wine or seabird watching. Take the kayaks out into the Harbor as dusk settles on the water, and you may be surprised by a sea otter. The two-acre garden is filled with trees, bushes and plants that thrill the most ardent gardeners. Identified a top Pacific Northwest summer vacation spot, Vashon Island offers fishing, biking, kayaking, horseback riding and hiking as wells as art galleries, bookstores, coffee shops, restaurants, free concerts and a movie house. Hunt for seashells on the beach walks or just sit back and enjoy the quiet, the solitude and the view of water and sunsets. A fast foot-ferry will deliver you to downtown Seattle. Vashon Island is a hidden secret that will draw you back year after year. Please Note: Because of Covid-19, we stipulate one day between the departure of a guest and the arrival of the next guest to allow our housecleaner adequate time to safely clean the house. Unfortunately, the VRBO policy and algorithm allows guests to book their arrival for 4 p.m. on a day when the prior guest must depart by 12 Noon. Consequently, our new policy is that the new guest cannot arrive until 4 p.m. the day following a guest’s departure. We have stayed in this beautiful home multiple times throughout the years. We can hardly wait to get there and always hate to leave. Kayaking with the seals and Jelly fish blooms is so much fun. Walking on the beach collecting shells, BBQs on the deck....everything is so perfect.

This was the most relaxing stay we’ve had in a long while! The view was breathtaking, kitchen well stocked, hot tub and garden divine, and beach access was such a fun adventure for the kids and dogs. We loved every minute of it!

The pictures do not do this property any justice and I would recommend that the owner take new pictures with full daylight as this property is gorgeous and cozy!
The kitchen is huge and great for multiple people cooking up dinners. A word of caution, the main refrigerator is a bit small and there is a mini fridge to help with the extra items. If you're a group that loves to cook and brings a fair bit of groceries that need to be refrigerated, you might be dealing with a tight fridge challenge.
This is a wonderful property and looking forward to a return trip in the future!

this property has beach access, kayaks, a wonderful deck, washer and drier on each floor, a well stocked kitchen; everything we needed for a relaxed and fun stay on the island we love.

We really enjoyed our time here - the beach, the gardens, the well stocked kitchen and homey, attractive atmosphere. The deck was a special place to gather and enjoy the beautiful views. We loved walking to the farmstand on the road for vegetables and bread. The only drawback for our extended family was the downstairs bedrooms that share a bathroom in the main room. As others have mentioned, it works well for a single family downstairs but not as well for two couples. But there were so many other great spaces, to spread out- the garden, the hot tub, the deck and the beach. The kitchen was very well stocked and helped us enjoy many meals together. Thank you for sharing your delightful home, we hope we will be able to return soon.

This has been our favorite property so far and we will definitely come back. Not only did it have enough space for our teens to hide but also a hot tub and kayaks for mentioned teens to come out again. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen that has everything you need and grilling on the deck with the most amazing view. Our dog was so relaxed that we were able to take her off one of her anxiety meds. She loved sleeping on the deck and exploring the Secret Garden. A highlight of our summer!

We visited Vashon Island and had a lovely stay at this quite waterfront home. The house had everything you need and the view from the covered deck of the bay was lovely. We enjoyed the beach access and the lush gardens surrounding the house were beautiful.

We couldn't have loved this home more. Nestled in lush trees with water views from all rooms it was like staying in paradise. The house was immaculate and so well stocked with toiletries, towels, all you could ask for, and more. The gardens are beautiful. My daughter lives in Vashon and we've stayed in many homes on the island. This one was by far the best. We hope to come back.

The property is beautiful and the owners were very kind, informative, and helpful. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful view and lovely yard and beach access. The only drawback for us is that, as other reviewers have noted, the downstairs is really just one big room. You can’t get to either “bedroom” without going through one of them, and you can’t get to the shared bathroom without going through the other. Would work great for siblings or parents and kids, but not as great for couples. But the house as a whole was great and we would recommend.

We had a great stay over Christmas. The view of the harbor was fantastic from the main rooms of the home. It snowed while we were here this week and that was really fun, especially using the very nice hot tub in the middle of the flurries! Loved our stay and home to return.

Spacious and Well Appointed
Amazing view, much more space than you realize from the pictures, and a fenced yard for the dogs! The house had everything we needed including 3 refrigerators, access to the beach, a working hot tub, and kayak (if we'd had the time to use them). A dishwasher, wood/wood stove, and easy access to laundry on-site also improved our stay. We were very happy with this rental. Thanks!

Great location, beautiful scenery, warm neighborhood
We have stayed at this property for the past two years. We love the access to the sound, the view from the deck, the hot tub and fireplace in the fall, and the kitchen is big and has all the things you need to share a big meal with family and friends. It’s dog friendly and has a gated area for the dogs to use the bathroom when or if needed. The two bedrooms downstairs are best for a family since one bedroom connects to a full bathroom but the other does not (the other has to go into the other bedroom to use the bathroom, or they have to go upstairs). This time around not all the garbage cans in the house had been emptied prior to our arrival, just a small oversite (the big one in the kitchen was cleared). We love the farm stand across the street from this property, Pacific Crest Farm. The neighbors are also very friendly and even offered us kayak use if we wanted. We love all the sheep/goats on the adjacent properties too - so scenic.

a great spot on Vashon Island
this is a wonderful place for relaxing in the sun with a book, cozying up to the fire place when its stormy, or playing crazy croquet on the slightly challenging lawn. the view is stunning. The deck is perfect for entertaining. we really enjoyed our stay.

This home is the perfect location if you love to look at or experience the water via kayak. We absolutely loved going out on the water in the kayaks, the kids had a blast! We would have loved to get in the hot tub but it appeared to not be operational. I feel that if you are going to include it as an amenity it should be in working order. We did know this ahead of time but if it's not always working I would just add it as a bonus if it is working vs keeping it as an always amenity in the listing.

Lovely place to stay, beautiful view, the family loved using the kayaks and hot tub, clean and welcoming. Eating out was not so great, next time we will do more cooking in the fabulous kitchen.
