Blue Mussel Beach is located in the small, quiet, beach front community of Indian Cove. Spectacular views greet you from the moment you walk through the door. Gazing at the cove, you will often see wildlife. Eagles are frequent visitors to the cove, keep your eyes open. Watch salmon jump, porpoise quietly glide through the water. Relax and enjoy the wildlife, read a book or head out to adventure in Juneau, Alaska. Whale watching, Glacier trekking, hiking, kayaking and fishing, just to name the favorites. Furnished in mid-century modern, with Alaska beach accents, Blue Mussel Beach will make you feel right at home. Living room, dining and kitchen provide spectacular views of the cove, while bedrooms are a quiet, relaxing escape. Small theater room available for movie watching or a quiet work space. Bathrooms are both modern, clean and comfortable. Linens are silky smooth to enhance your comfort and enjoy a refreshing night of sleep. Covered deck will allow you to relax by the fire pit or grill your freshly caught Alaskan salmon. Enjoy dining and lounging outside, regardless of Alaska weather, but always prepare for rain! Beach access is but a few steps away, enjoy beach combing on our shores. Rock skipping is a favorite past time of cove residents. Car rental recommended as public transportation is not available. One parking space is available for off-street parking. While Blue Mussel Beach is located " out the road", you will discover everything in Juneau is less than 30 minutes away. Grocery shopping and the airport are less than 5 miles away. Closest marina is 5 mins away. If you are traveling via the Alaska Marine Highway, we are walking distance from the ferry terminal. Bustling downtown Juneau, is only 25 mins away if you are looking for fine dining or fun shopping. Cruise ships dock in downtown daily, provided endless people watching!

The home is beautiful and the view is ridiculous. You literally wake up every morning to see the ocean right in front of you. The hosts have provided a well-furnished, clean, and comfortable place to stay. We hope to return next year so don't book our week!!

We came in town for a wedding and we were looking for a calm place to decompress between festivities and boy did we find it. Kathy was so easy to communicate with and the property was amazing. Super clean and had everything we needed. We saw eagles, sea lions, and deer, and that was just from the living room. We didn't turn the TV on once. What a great spot.

I was so impressed with all of the touches .
Kathy went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked dishes, cookware, Saran, and baggies. The bathrooms each had shampoo, conditioner, bath wash and lotion. I really appreciate this. I get so frustrated with properties that do not provide the basics.
I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely perfect spot. Spent the evening watching harbour seals, sea otters, porpoises and whales.
Space was comfy and had everything we needed.
Will definitely be trying to get this one again next time I’m in town.

Great place
The house and property were fantastic, and a relatively simple drive to downtown Juneau - with some good local spots as well. Check-in and communication were easy. I would recommend this property and would stay again if/when we return to the Juneau area.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kathy’s house overlooking Indian Cove. The booking process was easy, and Kathy was even able to accommodate a change in our schedule. Having a parking space right in front of the house was a nice bonus. The interior was spotless, and the house was very well-equipped and spacious, and we enjoyed the decor. We also greatly appreciated the fully-equipped kitchen and cooked several meals there. We loved standing on the large deck watching many bald eagles hunt in the cove and a porcupine walking on the beach one morning. Our kids enjoyed playing with Kathy’s friendly cats and also hiking over to the island in the middle of the cove during low tide. The beach was filled with shells and had many areas for exploration. The proximity to Mendenhall Glacier and other local attractions was great. Kathy was readily available during our four night stay in case we had questions. We highly recommend this house, and we hope to return again soon.

Stunning View
The property was immaculate and in a great location. Easy to get to everything. Our favorite however was the view. One of the best we have had at a VRBO. Kathy was a great host and very helpful and polite. She left flowers for my wife for her birthday which was a nice little surprise. Hopefully we will get the chance to come back to Juneau and will definitely stay here again.

Oh the view!!!
It was such a joy to stay in this beautiful home. Kathy was so welcoming and offered us early check-in. The space was comfortable and functioned well for us, two couples. The view was spectacular… and so beautiful in the light throughout the day and night. We were here in June, and we took photos all through the night… just couldn’t get enough of it!

The rental was great, and Kathy was a great hostess. The view of the ocean from the deck was amazing--great place for meals and cocktails. Kathy was great about providing referrals for restaurants, hiking trails, and activities (fishing, tours, etc). Definitely a great place to spend a relaxing week. Internet service was good too.

Juneau Beachfront Getaway!
We have lived in Juneau for 30+ years and THIS is what you are looking for in an Alaskan getaway! This hidden gem is tucked in the trees so you feel like you’re out in the wilderness. From the beautiful and comfortable deck we sat by the fire pit watching eagles, porpoises, a Sitka blacktail deer stroll by us, and a bear walk across the isthmus and bathe near the small island. Fishing boats, ferries, and cruise ships were fun to watch coming and going in the distance. The home was super clean, well appointed, and had everything we needed. Kathy was wonderful and made us feel quite welcome. We will be staying there again!

Kathy was amazing to work with. The property was such a peaceful and relaxing place the 2 weeks we spent there. It was hard to say goodbye when the time came. I would give this property more than the 5 stars allowed.

From the early communication requesting property and rental information to booking, arrival and our enjoyable stay to checkout, every detail was perfectly handled. Kathy and Jag were awesome. They made sure all our needs were taken care of and questions about activities were answered.
The location was perfect for us, situated on the waterfront in a beautiful cove. Transportation to the town was easy. With Safeway and Costco less than fifteen minutes away, it was effortless to stock up on food for our ten day stay. The kitchen was well stocked with all the items we needed to prepare meals being provided. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The best was that the kitchen, dining, family room and balcony all took advantage of a beautiful view of the cove where we enjoyed watching the eagles and dolphins.
If you are concerned about the location being out of town, don’t be. After exploring the area, we were glad we selected this location. It truly gives you the feeling you are in Alaska and it was nice to be away from the cruise ship crowds, yet close to the glaciers, lakes, hiking trails and fishing.
If you are looking for and awesome location and amenities with wonderful caring hosts look no further, this is the location for you.

Beautiful home with spectacular view!
We spent a week enjoying this home and didn’t want to leave! The house was spacious and very clean - it comfortably fit our family of 6. The kitchen was stocked with all of the appliances, pots/pans you would need to cook a meal at home. Most of all, we loved waking up every day to the beautiful view of the ocean and our children loved playing on the beach. I hope to stay here again one day!

Idyllic summer vacation at Blue Mussel Beach house
We had a lovely, tranquil vacation at the Blue Mussel Beach house this summer. It was picture perfect - the calm Auke bay, dolphins jumping in the bay in the morning, twinkling lights of passing cruise ships in the distant horizon, gentle lapping water... The house was immaculately clean and furnished with taste. We were a party of six - ranging from my elderly mom to my young daughters. The house with its beautiful settings lend the flexibility of space, experience and perspectives across generations. The location and amenities were perfect. The location is a good gateway to outdoor activities, like fishing, boating, hiking or simply watching the night sky from the porch. Thank you Kathy for sharing your lovely home with us.

Blue Mussel Beach/cove and Auke Bay and Chilkat Mtns in near distance across bay is incredible....had easy distance/access to everything needed and everywhere, including downtown Juneau....Kathy is a terrific host & owner and we are already sharing her place with family & friends....we will return as our first trip to Alaska is simply not enough!!!!!

Beautiful serene waterfront home
This house was just lovely. Well appointed mid-century mod decor in a split level ranch. Open and airy with full vistas of the water along the entire back of the house. The beds were comfy and the kitchen very well appointed. The location is just north of a couple of marinas, one of which, the ferry terminal, and the other offering kayak and board rentals. We saw whale watching tours setting off too. Drive north to see St. Therese sanctuary and look for bears. We saw deer and porcupine along the way. Thanks to Kathy for a lovely few days of quiet beautiful Alaska!

Felt like an honored guest
The first thing I was struck by was the amazing natural beauty of the place. It was even better than what I expected from the pictures and it never got old, but that was just the beginning of our enjoyment. Kathy has taken great pains to see that all needs are meet in much more than the usual "basic" fashion. You are trusted with the best. The beds all have top notch mattresses - including the futon in the media room. The rugs, towels and linens are all so soft and comfy. Even the shampoos and soap are upscale and pampering. There is a Keurig coffee maker with a variety of pods and much nicer than necessary knives, pots and pan, and cooking supplies. There was also a binder with detailed instructions on the use of remotes, access to 2 separate wifi systems, information about the area and lots more. Top this off with thoughtful touches like a note next to 3 kinds of insect repellent on the porch, a full sized gas grill, sleeping mask to help block the summer sun and bowl of chocolates to indulge your inner child. If you want to spoil yourself, this is the place to come. Thank you, Kathy, for sharing your slice of heaven with us in such a grand fashion!

Pretty place pretty view!
We were very comfy and cozy! Our family of 5 / 3 generations/ had a pretty stay over summer solstice here. The sun never seemed to set! 24 hour gorgeous view!
