This home is not suitable for small children as there are higher sections of the property near deep water. *** This San Juan Island vacation rental home offers sweeping views across San Juan Channel to Orcas Island and other surrounding islands. Floor to ceiling windows invite the exquisite beauty of nature into your living room, kitchen, and dining areas - the waterfront is so near that it feels like part of the living room! The natural environment surrounding this home provides frequent sightings of deer, eagles, porpoise, seals, sea lions, and on occasion, Orca and Minke Whales. This home is an ideal setting for those who enjoy reading, fishing, cooking, hiking, and just relaxing to the sound of the sea. The living room opens to the deck and is furnished with wall-to-wall carpeting, leather seating, DVD/CD & i-pod player. Wool Pendleton and fleece blankets are thoughtfully provided to keep you cozy while sitting outside by the fire pit or at the waterside bench. Two queen-sized bedrooms face the water and enjoy their own private decks, reading areas & radios. The master bedroom features a seating area and the master bath offers a walk-in shower. A third bedroom contains two twin beds, a second DVD player and a concealed Maytag washer and dryer. Gourmet cooking and entertaining are encouraged in this vacation home's well-equipped kitchen that offers a bread machine, ice maker, service for 12, serving dishes, candles, new dishwasher, high-tech induction stove top, seasonings, two ovens, & cookbooks. There is a gas BBQ just outside and sage, thyme, rosemary, chives, mint and other spices growing in containers for your use. A wood stove in the dining room (free firewood is provided) adds to a cozy evening environment. Reach the rocky shoreline on an easy path down 4 steps; you might fish for your dinner as fishing, crabbing, and shrimping gear are provided. Hikers will enjoy discovering the Old Growth Forest Reserve just three blocks away. At Channel House, you can blissfully escape from the world but if you decide to tune in there is a new 55" HDTV for internet, movie channels, and Blueray DVD that can be used with 3D or regular video discs. Cell coverage can be spotty so there is a land line with free long distance calls to US, Mexico and Canada. Channel House is located at the end of a private road, just 2.5 miles from the ferry landing and the Town of Friday Harbor, where you will enjoy many shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. Please note this home has a long steep driveway with 4 steps to the entrance. Lovely location! Beautiful views! However, our power went out unexpectedly and our internet availability was virtually non extistent. The bathroom sink upstairs was super clogged and did not drain.

All four of us loved our stay at the Channel House. It had amazing views, decks, and nice provisions. The rooms were very large with views except the twin bed room.
It is only a short distance from Friday Harbor and 15 minutes drive to Roche Harbor. I rode my ebike from the house over the island and loved the scenery. The beaches were very nice espeically South Beach and Cattle Rd Beach

The Channel house was absolutely perfect. Location to Friday Harbor was excellent. Saw two Orcas swimming by from the house. Recommended highly.

The views were amazing, and the decks were great places to take it all in. It was also nice walking down the path towards the water. We saw many birds, including a king fisher that perched by the water every day. We also saw a seal and some deer.
The kitchen had everything we needed. There are enough dishes to feed a lot more people than could fit in the place!
Location is only a short drive from downtown Friday Harbor. the driveway involves a sharp turn and is a little narrow, but it was easy to turn around at the bottom by pulling into the garage.
The walking path from the parking pad to the front door is a gravel slope, so it's best to take it slow and to carry your bags. A rolling suitcase won't do well on the gravel.

The property has amazing views! We saw so many animals without even having to leave the property. I would stay here again!

It is a beautiful place to stay with amazing views from most rooms of the house. Three decks to take in the views. And convenient to Friday Harbor. The house was livable, but a bit tired in the carpeting and kitchen. The kitchen was overstocked in dishes, but lacked simple necessities like Saran Wrap & laundry detergent. A railing of some sort going down to the house might have been helpful to avoid slipping.

The location is idyllic- fabulous views from the great room, decks, and 2 of the bedrooms. The house is dated to the 80’s (mauve carpeting in the master bedroom) and needs updating. But it was clean and furnished conveniently and appropriately. The routine maintenance inspections are in order by the house leaning crew. (1) the water control in the hall bath does not work, making the tub/shower inoperable. Theee were two of us so we managed. It with 6 occupants, having only one functional shower would have been a problem!. (2) the coffee mailer is broken; (3) the microwave doesn’t work. These were inconvenienced and should be addressed in a high-price rental.

We've traveled everywhere but this special location in the good 'ol USA tops the list for a magical family and friends experience. The sunset was majestic while we ate an amazing BBQ dinner, listening to our favorite John Denver music and all singing around the bonfire. We shall return!!

This house is in such an amazing location and we even got to see Orcas from the back patio. Down side for this property is it's managed by a large property management company and it shows...wasn't as clean as they claimed considering they would not allow ANY time for a little late or early check in due to all the extra Covid cleaning they were supposedly doing. I'm also a host and always try to allow for at least 30 minutes on either end. The house is adorable but very dated. Bed wasn't horrible but wasn't very comfortable either and only queen beds. Lot's of wasps on the patio which was a disappointment since we love to sit on the deck and have wine and play cards. Internet wasn't working upon arrival and when I called the company she said she'd get back with me but never did until the next day when I had to call again. Eventually we got that running and our stay here was pretty amazing and because of the location I'd rent this place again!

The place was perfect for our group. Breathtaking views draw you out to the gorgeous deck, which is the place to be. We grilled salmon one night and chicken the next. We do recommend yellow jacket traps as there were lots and one of us (me) got stung. Ouch! We also were not able to use one of the twin beds as it was noisy (springs/trundle bed) and not very comfortable. But other than those two issues, we loved our stay.

Wonderful week at this awesome home. Every conceivable thing needed was in this home. We loved the daily wildlife to watch, the weather was perfect and our time there was so relaxing. Our only complaint was the remote control on the tv is impossible to use and that was the only frustration we encountered. Solitude while watching the water, shrimping boats were out, and we were enthralled with the island. Spent many days exploring San Juan, then a day on Orcas. Loved both Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor and the location of the home. Magical week in this magical place.

The home is large and has multiple spaces for people to enjoy time together or apart. The only downside is that we spent most of our first evening trying to get internet service. After four hours of phone calls and a visit from a property management staff member, a new router was installed and the issues were resolved. We appreciated her effort, just wish it had been addressed before our arrival as apparently it had been an ongoing problem. New screen doors that open easily are needed! On a happier note, the sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking and worth the rental cost.

Our time at the Channel House was amazing. From the side deck we watched a mother deer and her three children graze, watched her fend off an interloper, we watched stars and listened to a sea lion grunting at the edge of the water, although we couldn't see him in the dark. The next morning from the lower bedroom deck we watched a family of otters, a mother and four! juvenile otters, play and hunt for fish. The mommy otter successfully caught a fish and gave it to one of the juveniles. After quite a tussle with the other juveniles to keep possession, he successfully claimed and ate it. It is so unbelievably beautiful, peaceful and wild here. We loved our stay and hated for it to end. The reservation process was smooth and the agents I worked with were so pleasant and helpful. Thanks to the family that owns the Channel House for opening it's doors to visitors!

Our stay at the Channel House was very nice. The view and wildlife were the best parts for our family. We were able to see deer on the property and look at the incredible views out the big front windows while playing board games which we enjoyed very much.
The downsides for us were that there really is no sun on the property which we wanted to sit in, trees need trimming for sun to come thru on the deck. Also the property is nice but the inside is very outdated for the price that we paid. It was not inexpensive therefore I think we expected more from the inside decor.
Overall a good stay with fun shopping close by and lots of fun times with the family

Channel House is the perfect get away, the property is really high quality with all the amenities you would expect but the 'wow' factor is the perfect location with amazing views you will not get tired of. We had 5 nights of BBQ's on the deck followed by drinks around the fire pit - heaven. Plenty to do during the day, recommend bike rides, kayak tours and great hikes.

Our four night stay was a great and memorable experience. There are many awesome things about this home and the property..However, there are a few things to be aware of prior to renting.. The upstairs master bedroom is a loft and there isn't a door for privacy. if your staying there with another couple you may need to be cautious about walking around the bedroom without clothes on.. we weren't aware of this prior to arrival.. Also, the driveway is very tight for parking and turning around. The walk from the parking area is steep and loose gravel, you need to be cautious not to loose footing. Overall, it's a Beautiful place and setting..

We stayed at this rental for a week with our daughter, her husband, and their two boys, age 2 and 6. There was plenty of room for all, and everyone loved the house and the great view. We've stayed at many rentals in the islands over the years, and this house was by far the best equipped for kitchenware, linens, etc.

Great view. House located in the woods. Tricky, steep driveway. Could not get in the house on arrival. Finally realized that the door was swollen shut - had to slam it open with our shoulder each time. The refrigerator makes a loud clunking noise ever 15 min which would wake us up all night. And how old is that pink sculptured carpet in the bedroom and bathroom (yuck). Furniture is old fashioned, broken down and worn. Stayed in Sidney at a gorgeous waterfront house for a lot less money. We love San Juan Island and the views but the Channel House could do with some improvements.
