I came to Imatra for the Saimaa Cycle Tour, which started right next to the hotel, so the location was perfect for the purpose of the trip. The location in Imatra is otherwise very good as it is in the very center of the city.
The hotel building has unique architecture and inner structure is different from newer hotels.
The reservation was for a single person room, but still, it was smaller than expected. In addition, the shower was very outdated and there was no fridge in the room. There is no air-conditioning in the hotel. From my side, the price-value balance was on the wrong side.
Breakfast was okay, but considering the cost, the selection was rather limited.
I asked if it was possible to check out a little after 12 pm and it was for 10 Euro/hour, which I thought was a little greedy, considering the price of the room.

Breakfast and location was great 🤩

Breakfast was amazing! One of the best vegan breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel. The hotel was beautiful and rooms comfortable.
The spa was a bit outdated and not everything was working properly, but it still was a nice addition to the experience.

Rooms are in need of renovation and upgrade.

Location, room
Low room temperature, real cold. Breakfast was getting worse in comparison with it use to be.

We booked a 'castle' superior room which was large and comfortably appointed with a very small balcony overlooking the famous rapids. Lots of comfortable places in the lobby to sit and have a drink and relax. Good food in the restaurant including breakfast which had every choice imaginable. The castle is quirky and certainly provided a memorable stay.
The bathroom in our bedroom was quite tired (but clean). The ipad / tablet in the room is out of place, completely useless and just provides a messy tangle of wires to look at.

I simply love it!

The historic building and the rapids. Breakfast was exceptional.
Can't say.

Architectural astonishment and the local rapid just behind the building that you can hear inside the room at night if water is flowing. The different halls have unique decorations and Finnish history contained within the walls.
The hotel does not have a large staff that would make it luxurious, now it just does not make it.

Clean and nice room with the necessary amenities for the visitor. Breakfast was very good, varied and delicious. The check-in accommodation, everything related to the stay and the check-out of the room was organized at a high level. Hotel staff is very kind and responsive. The hotel is located in a good location, the old and the new part are connected by a warm underground connection, which is very convenient in winter. The sauna is very good with everything you need for a pleasant stay and recovery. The gym is small but tidy, open 24 hours, which is very convenient. It was a pleasant stay! :-)
The lack of a tea maker in the room.

I like the atmosphere and the sauna.
The bed and the fact that there was no wardrobe.

This hotel is a good option to stay. Customer service is great. Walking distance from the hottest hang out place in town.
The room was fine but the other guests were too loud.

The room was big and clean, with an electric kettle and some tea and coffee. The bed was comfy.
The TV was at an awkward angle to the bed and kind of far away from it. The bathtub was clean, but fairly small.

Lovely building. Great contrast between the old and new buildings. We stayed in both parts of the hotel. Usual high standard associated with the Scandic chain, although this is more difficult to achieve given the age of the castle building. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast great with huge selection.
Coffee machine in reception broken. No kettle in room in new building but there was one in the castle building. Empty glasses from the day before in the lounge area. Restaurant not open on Sundays and local restaurants that were open were not great.

it was great to be able to loan bikes Tunturi poni and cruise around the city. also the Imatran Koski was awesome and the tracks around it.
old castle is really old and I do understand that you pay for the feeling but I still think the room was way too expensive considering the quality of the room. old carpet floor , no proper air vents and really old fashioned toilet with blue tiles … not in our taste at all

Bed was great. And if you have travelled in Asia and slept in the ***** hotels you can get the same feeling from the bed sheets here as well. Really liked the feeling.
Overall great hotel, good location and atmosphere.
I had the room in the Park side, it is not that new what you think when looking the pictures. Nothing dramatic but the expectations were little higher. Good clean room anyway.

Historical location, with the exterior in good shape and the Imatra rapids and dam adjacent. Restaurant also seemed to be well maintained.
The castle rooms are in desperate need of renovation. The beds had thankfully seen updates recently, but the bathrooms in particular don't seem to have received any real attention in about three decades - especially the flaking bathtub made us think twice about using it. Also, there is no air conditioning which was very uncomfortable in the evenings (the 5 € fan provided was way too loud to sleep with).

Location is superb, especially if you’re visiting Imatra for Imatrankoski. The main building is a great sight and our room in the park building was quite comfortable. Gym was a nice surprise and quite good for the small size.
The park building itself was very dated, and with so much empty space it felt a bit abandoned. The sauna and spa was a nice addition, however a bit dated as well. Breakfast was very basic hotel breakfast which left a lot to be desired.

Such a unique location and building! You will not find anything even close in Finland! It veritably is a mini-Neuschwanstein :) I wished the rapids would've been available, but they're not running the water all the time.
A small minus: We were traveling during an unusually hot time in Finland, so AC would've been a nice addition, but managed without it. Room was overlooking the park so it had really nice views :)

The castel is absolutely amazing, the sorroundings as well. We stayed in the other side of the buiding which is not part of the tours. The area is very clean, staff is nice, breakfast was really good. It is a good location with a beautiful view, green, in the middle of the nature. Nice experience!
The only small "minus": when we picked-up the diner for take away (because of the pandemics), we haven't been given any cuttlery (knife, fork, napkins or any sauces for the burger).

Nice historic hotel, everything works fine.
