The location of Hotel Le Choiseul right by the river and the town of Amboise was excellent, and it was very easy to walk to the Amboise Chateau Royal and the Da Vinci home Clos Luce. We stayed in our own "cottage" like room #10 on the ground floor with a terrace. The staff were wonderful and had great communication by email before we arrived arranging a taxi to pick us up from the Amboise train station and making a dinner reservation at Le Parvis in advance for the day we arrived. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked well.
We were glad that we chose this hotel.
There was no chef for the buffet breakfast so the eggs were cold.

A lovely little chateau in Amboise. Close enough to the town to walk, but away from the noise. Free parking and walkable to Chateau Amboise and Clos Luce. We didn’t take advantage of the breakfast but it looked lovely. Dinner is the restaurant was very good. Exceptional views too.

It’s location near the river and below the chateau just a short walk from town is perfect. it’s a lovely old building with lots of charm
It’s a bit dated. The rooms are quirky with nice antique furniture but it’s not luxurious eg thin synthetic duvet, not fluffy and rubbery pillows.

- the hotel’s location in very atmospheric historical mansion which gave special vibes
- the rooms were spacious
- the breakfast options once depleted were not quickly replenished, there was a breakdown in the chain of command

beautiful mid Autumn stay, elegant yet comfortable with delightful breakfast. One evening we went to the restaurant for an excellent dining experience.

The hotel is old, but in good condition. Although our room faced a main street, it was extremely quiet as it had double layers of windows. The breakfast room was very classy with a wide variety of options. Ate in the main dining room just once, but the experience was very good.
The bar/lounge was usually reserved for special events and, although the outside tables near the restaurant were in a sunny location, service was usually not available unless we sought out a server.

I loved everything about this property! Beautiful spacious room and marble bathroom. Lovely garden. Walking distance to the Chateau. wonderfully friendly staff. But the best was the dinner - it may have been the best meal I have ever had. The flavors of the meal were unimaginably delicious. Absolutely superb!

The staff were very good and looked after us extremely well. The restaurant had wonderful views over the Loire, the food was imaginative and the sweetbreads were the best I've ever tasted. The location was great, a ten minute amble to the chateau and plentiful coffee stops. It was good to have secure parking off the main road adding to the ease of booking in and out.

Super location good sized room full of old world French charm
No tea coffee facilities which is always a shame plus breakfast was till 10.30 yet when we arrived at 9 the hot options had finished and not replenished. We were given an omelette but at the cost charged expected more.

beautiful property right in the centre of Amboise. Lovely tranquil feel - great place to relax.
Dinner was very nice but you spend way more than the prix fixe. Coffees and mineral water are over priced and really get you! We had a lovely dinner though and staff were attentive and professional.

The hotel was beautiful, lots of separate buidings so felt quite secluded. Dining romm with views of the Loire, excellent gourmet meal. Also outdoor swimming pool. Five minute walk into Amboise with all it's history.

The facilities - grand hall, ground floor bar/lounge, first floor dining room, pool and garden, were lovely.
Good dinner on 2 nights. Good recommendations of local wines by the sommelier. Excellent waiting staff.
So called 'superior' bedrooms on second floor were very disappointing - small dormer windows with 'view' of river only by standing on tiptoe, or over flat roof. Access by steep staircase, difficult for older guests, carrying suitcases or other mobility issues, though to be fair the receptionist was eagar to help us with luggage (both up and down). Tired decor.
Reception staff had clearly heard complaints about these rooms before, as they just brushed them off.

The outstanding feature of the hotel was the restaurant. The dinner and wine were superb.
It was annoying not be able to buy glass of wine befor 7.00 pm.

Breakfast was exceptional. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic. The hotel is in a great location. Very easy to get to the Centre of town and being right by the river has great views from parts of the hotel. Swimming pool was refreshing. Staff were very helpful and could not have done more to make my stay so great.
Pool could be warmer. Room was quite a long trek from reception, but very large and characterful.

Wonderful location close to city but still quiet and plenty of parking space. The breakfast was very nice and dinner at "Le 36" restaurant was divine. Accommodations, grounds, and staff were lovely.
The only disappointment was the shower, or lack thereof. The bathtub was ideal for our 6 year-old, but it only had a handheld sprayer attached to the faucet, with no wall mount to hold it higher.
