Residence is geweldig.

The resort looks at a beautiful beach: long, wide and clean, with no other buildings around anywhere near (though the local kids sometimes use it for motorbike racing). The resort itself is also very spacious and there are not too many guests, you won’t overhear the neighbours’ conversation from the sunbed next to you. The garden is lush and verdant. The units are also spacious (we had one with a little separate garden), with tasteful furniture in very good condition. The place is silent, only the frogs might disturb you in the night.
All-in-all, the resort is grossly overpriced. With different discounts, we got it for EUR 164 per night and it was the worse way that I spent money in Bali.
Problem nr. 1 is by far the location. There is nothing worthy to see or visit in the vicinity. Sure, you can go further, but you’ll spend a LOT of time just driving/being transported: the coastal road, which you will have to take to get almost anywhere is a Mad-Max-style experience because of all the trucks and buses driving between the port and Denpasar (survival of the heaviest). Trust me, I’ve been driving all-around Bali, including Kuta and impossible mountain roads, but this was the worse. On the map other destinations don’t look that far, but you’ll be driving on 30 km/h. So there is a fat chance that you’ll just stay at the resort all the time, and there is not much to do there: entry-level surfing/buggy boarding or staying next to the pool and reading/sunbathing (almost everyone I saw did just that).
Problem nr. 2. is the restaurant. While it is not outright bad, but for a 5-star hotel the food is bland, the selection is quite limited and the portions are small. We have eaten much better in roadside „warungs” (for much cheaper, of course).
Problem nr. 3 is how the place looks like: everything built is grey/dirty white and very square, like the designer was inspired by Eastern European garage blocks. And as there are hardly any flowers in the garden, you will see grey and dark green everywhere on an island otherwise vibrant with colours. Even the view is worse than it could be as looking outside from most parts of the garden the vegetation covers a lot of the beach. All of this combined with problem nr. 1 resulted in a very boring resort for me.
Problem nr 4 was cleaning. We found 3 huge (5-6 cm) spiders, one after I asked housekeeping to check for them.

this place is phenomenal. houses surrounded by jungle and offering complete isolation. the staff is very friendly and ready to help all the time. It's actually a waste of time to explore the island. Better to lock yourself in this hotel with your books.

Small scale but spacious resort - I loved the privacy afforded guests and space the resort exuded. The resort is right on a clean and safe beach making for excellent views and swimming.
The benefit of the seclusion and remoteness meant if you wanted to get off the resort getting transport (grab/gojek)was sometimes a challenge, but the hotel does offer their hotel cars to mitigate this.

World class service, and chef. Amazing villa, the experience was top class
It’s about 2hrs to all the tours, but the amenities and service and surroundings really made it worth coming back to after a day of sightseeing.

Das Frühstück war gut
Das Zimmer mit Pool sehr gross und modern
Die Hotelanlage sehr schön direkt am Meer
mit schönen Sandstrand
guter Service, nettes Personal

It is one of the best hotels in bali it tooks around 3 hours to reach the hotel but it is worth it also the driver was soo kind and friendly, everything was perfect, the staff are very friendly and very helpful, they prepared the room very well and sprayed the whole room to prevent insects from entering it helped a lot and they prepared for me mosquito net because I mentioned to them about my situation they really did everything to let us feel happy and relax. The restaurant was amazing and the workers there were skilled and friendly too we enjoyed our breakfast and dinner with the wonderful relaxing view and the waves sound.
We really wished if we could stay more, but we will definitely be back.
I really thank everyone from the kelapa retreat resort for making our staycation unforgettable ❤️

We had a wonderfully nice couple of days in Kelapa Retreat & Spa. The rooms were clean, spacious, nicely equipped and the outside shower was very original!

A gorgeous location surrounded by palm trees where the black sand beach meets the oceans. An undiscovered hidden paradise. The staff are incredibly concerned, we would like to thank Triana especially for helping us with our transfer. If you really want to retreat you need to visit.

Such a great experience - tucked away in a beautiful corner of Bali. The retreat is so peaceful and the staff made everything to surprise us. Unforgettable, we will be back in the future
Considering the high level of the hotel, the food at lunch and dinner could have been better. Breakfast is exceptional but lunch and dinner could be improved.

Really nice beach hotel in the sense of a jurassic park beach. Beautiful black sand, wide beach and completely deserted.
The hotel is nice, clean with all the equipment you need. THe restaurant is on the beachside, very pleasant.
The resort claims to be upper class and the villas are really ok. There are however not much more, the spa is mediocre, the food is just ok, waiting times are long in the restaurant and they charge 2-3 times the price you would pay in another hotel in Bali. The location is isolated, you need a taxi to go anywhere.

Very calm atmosphere, beautiful location right at the beach with all the coconut trees around, very good food in the restaurant (especially the Asian dishes), awesome main pool and private pools, nice cooking class (free activity).
Needs more maintenance, but you can see that some things already have been done recently.
Sometimes restaurant service was a bit slow.

The attentiveness of the staff started the moment we arrived. We were there at 8.30am and the first question posed to us was Have you had breakfast? When we said we hadn't, we were invited to join the breakfast, and given a spare room with towels and everything to rest while our villa was being prepared. It was hospitality at its best, it is a down to earth, quaint place with all the little luxuries that you need - i.e the most amazing mango smoothie bowls and massages! There are two amazing pool that overlook the ocean. The beach is clean and very swimmable :)
Nothing really - if I had to find something then more seafood options would be nice :)

During our 14 days trip to Bali it was the best of all our places we stayed. Amazing stuff and fantastic villa! If we would come back to Bali we will stay here again!

Amazing location directly on the beach
The journey from the airport was a bit long and tedious but once there it was an exceptional resort, calm and relaxing

Awesome place. We stayed at one of the beach villas and had a great time. The interiors are nicely done and the outdoor shower was a hit. The beach is just a few steps away, as are the two pools, the spa, and the restaurant, where we had all meals. Overall we were very happy with the staff, quality, the service. I will definitely plan to stay here again.

Everything was simply amazing. It was a very quite resort in the middle of nowhere. We literally had the beach and the pool facilities for ourselves. The restaurant was very nice, but its also the only option to eat at around the area, so you have to use it, which was fine for us.
Its only a suggestion:
The hotel could provide more activities like Yoga, Meditation, surfing etc as their is nothing around.
Also the SPA prices were compared to the rest of the island very expensive.
Maybe a small kids area, if they want to attract families:-)
BUT this to be said, it was a perfect family holiday!

Amazing staff and great amenities! Good food as well so no need to leave the resort per se. Wonderful nature around.
After high tide there is some plastic debris at the beach at times, the hotel stuff does clean it up daily though.

The grounds are superb: the resort is on a slope descending towards the sea, and in the middle of a beautiful coconut grove. Good swimmers can swim in the sea, the sand is perfect to play in or go for walks.
The service in the restaurant is a little bit weak but everyone is very nice.

Very very very relaxing resort. It’s absolutely quiet, peaceful. If you are looking for a quiet place , this it it.
The staff is very kind, smiling, polite and helpful. Lovely people. They organize your activities if you want such as snorkeling, trekking,…
The rooms are large, well designed and organized, very clean.
2 swimming pools, one is 25m long and the other around 20m. The pools are swimmable and immediately close to the beach.
The beach is very large and almost desertic. Unfortunately, scattered with plastic trash, except in front of the hotel as it is cleaned up by the staff.
I am convinced that I made the right choice with this resort.
The only drawback would be that it’s a bit far from the tourists spots but this is the price to pay for quietness.

This is an amazing place to relax and calm down! we had the Kelapa Residence and it was a dream come true! I can fully recommend it for families, couples and anyone looking for a quiet time!
only two minor improvement areas - some more fixed on the villas after the COVID time and some training on the staff but this is really minor!
