Unique hotel in front of the park entrance.
The staff and the service are great. We received so many small gifts during the stay like: rain coats, water containers, unlimited free mini bar and room service, chocolates, etc… plus, dinner and lunch were included in the room price (full board).
The room is rather small, but has all the luxury items!
The hotel gives you access to the Hiram Bingham lounge at the águas calientes train station which is a huge plus (the station is super crowded), even if you are taking another train like vista dome. Plus, they will take care of your luggages from the hotel to the lounge.
Nothing.

One of the most magical experiences I have had. The concierge John Pizzaro was a tremendous help, from the minute of my arrival until my departure. I strongly recommend all visitors to the Sanctuary Lodge at Machu Picchu to request John by name, for a a truly worry free and convenient visit.

The only good thing about this place is its location near the Macchu Pichu site
The hotel is a 4-star at best.
The price is ridiculously expensive considering it's a small hotel with nothing to do and with average facilities. The rooms are small and poorly equipped.

The staff went above and beyond to help and facilitate, plus you are right at the entrance to Machu Picchu

If you can, definitely do it! This is my second time staying up in Machu Picchu. While you can no longer enter the ruins at any time as before, staying up there when everyone else is gone enjoying the view is worth every cent. My kids enjoyed every aspect of the stay and would definitely do it again if I’m ever back visiting Machu Picchu.

The location next to the entrance of Machu Picchu is unbeatable. The rooms are not large but beautifully appointed. We had a lovely terrace looking over a central green space and there are walking paths with some private seating that are peaceful and quiet. The restaurant has very good food, great service and gracious dining. The entire team offers nothing but the highest level of customer service which made us feel very pampered and appreciated. This lodge is truly a place to unwind and find your own sanctuary.

You are literally in the front gate of Machu Picchu! 😊
Staff is attentive and nice. We couldn't ask for anything they didn't deliver.
The rooms are small, but I guess this comes with the location. Though, we had everything we needed in the room.
The restaurant in the hotel had s great food!

This hotel is amazing. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Our room had a private balcony overlooking Huayna Picchu. The staff were very warm and attentive and were always making sure that everything was of our satisfaction.
I love everything about the hotel. I expect to come back and stay longer next time.

it was a beautiful and peaceful stay, unique place and atmosphere (due to location and the hotel management too). there is a wonderful garden with hummingbirds and flowers, it was a great choice to celebrate birthday and visit Machu Picchu twice (evening slot at 14.00 long upper route and next morning long lower route and Wyna picchu. after check out there is shower room available (2) to change before going down to Aguascalientes.
the price is immense for Peru, however there are discounts

Proximity to Machu Picchu, hospitality, dining, massage therapy, ALL OF IT! Alex was incredibly helpful in helping us to secure tickets, transportation, and other services. Gustavo met us at the train station when we arrived and delivered our luggage to the train when we departed so that we could enjoy Aguas Calientes for a few hours before we left!

The location is excellent and the staff was friendly
The hotel is well located and is pleasant enough. That’s the good news. However, the bad news is that this is no five star hotel worthy of a room rate of over $1000 a night. Rooms that deserve this rate are five-star hotels like the Ritz Carlton or a Four seasons Hotel which are full of luxury amenities.
This hotel is not luxurious at all. It is very simple and rustic accommodations. It’s more akin to a basic and modest ski lodge than to anything resembling a $1000 a night luxury hotel
Look at the very modest front desk in the photo which is the quality you would expect of
a youth hostel.
Just check the pictures of the lobby furniture and If you look at the front desk, it resembles the quality you would see at a roadside motel.
If you want to go into nearby Aguascalientes, you have to take a public bus because this hotel, despite charging $1000 a night, offers no private shuttle!!! Outrageous!!
We wanted to check out after our first night of staying here, however Hanna who works at their central reservations department refused to give us a refund because we had originally booked for two nights. This is unheard of with any five star or even 4 star hotel. Once you check in all the other quality hotels allow you to make modifications to your stay without penalty. Apparently not the Belmondo group!!
Also if you read some reviews that are posted here, there have been some travelers who arrive by train to Aguascalientes at 7 PM and were not able to get a ride to the Sanctuary hotel. Because the only way to arrive there is through the public buses and they stop running from Aguascalientes at 3:30 PM.!!!
Several travelers could not get a refund from the hotel even when they were forced to stay in Aguascalientes and had to cancel their hotel stay at the sanctuary because they could not get there from the train station after 3:30 PM!!!
Of course this could’ve easily been solved if the sanctuary had a private shuttle or even a car to pick up their own guests!!

I like everything about this hotel! My husband and I went there to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. They treated us like we were the only ones staying at the hotel. They welcomes us with a beautiful fruit platter and bubbly, we loved it!
The property is gorgeous. They have an area where you can walk and relax while enjoying amazing views of Machu Picchu.
The room was super comfortable. They upgraded us to a room with a patio, which was super nice. I enjoyed waking up and just walking to the patio enjoying the view, vegetation and clean air.
Martin y Guido were our favorites! They explained everything about the food and a bit of history too!
The pisco sour tasting was also super fun! It was a great way to taste and learned from a variety of piscos while making new friends.
Last but not least, the location is perfect. We were able to enjoy visiting Machu Picchu and then come back and relax in our room.
We'll definitively be back!
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
