Room clean, but lift and corridoor reeks of cigarettes

Room was clean and bed comfortable. Close to station for trains, buses, and streetcar.

Accidentally booked a smoking room - my error. My friends who had non smoking room were on the same floor and lift and corridor had very strong smoke smell. Smell was worse in the corridoor than my actual smoking room.

A nightmare

My wife and I have traveled extensively in Japan over the past 3 weeks so we were able to compare the 8 hotels we stayed in. In general, Japanese hotels are quite good, clean and modern. APA Hotel Hiroshima Ekimae is a clear exception. It is a shame for the APA chain to have such a hotel. Of the pluses, I can only note a relatively large room, a convenient location and a beautiful view (in our case). The rest is bad.

First, when you arrive in Hiroshima by train, you immediately see a big sign: "APA Hotel", so you might think that this is your goal. Yes, I know how to use Google Maps, but there should only be one APA Hiroshima Ekimae hotel, right? So you go there. What mistake! Nearby there is another hotel with exactly the same name. But much smaller and much worse. So, it will take you 15 minutes to get to the big one, another 15 minutes they will look for your reservation and another 15 minutes you will be trudging back. You may ask: why not just give the hotels different names, for example, APA North and APA South? Well, I do not know. Perhaps to start torturing the guest as soon as possible. The room will be quite dirty. Not very dirty, but still. The window does not even have a slightly ajar position. Only tightly closed. Why would you want to open it? Because the air in the room can be very, very stuffy. But surely there is air conditioning in the room? The answer is "no". An ancient 50-year-old panel is built into the wall, which says that it is an air conditioner. But this is definitely not the case. The panel has 4 positions: off, low, medium, high. But what is low and what is high? Well, it's just airflow. It can neither warm nor cool. Nothing! Just blowing. APA Hotel has invented a new type of air conditioners: low, medium and high. Bravo. Let me add that the staff don't even speak basic English, the bathtub is very slippery, and no coffee is offered. Finally, you can expect such a hotel to be very cheap. You are wrong again. It was the most expensive of our eight hotels in Japan, at $150/night for two without breakfast. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. A nightmare. I speak without emotion. I am not angry. Furthermore, I just say: a very bad hotel.

Everything was clean. The staff was very helpful. Although I had everything with me, they provide you almost every necessity. The check in was fast, the checkout is even faster. We found the transportation pretty good from here and could easily spend 3 nights. The price was also pretty good.

Everything was fine really. The internet was not really fast, but good for checking news and social network.

Good price, nice service, and excellent location, but a bit small and no breakfast available

Quiet, nice view of the river, very nice staff, quick check-in, low cost.

No breakfast available due to "corona virus" efforts, full-sized bed was a bit short for me (I'm 189 cm tall), the room was a bit small, and there was no iron or coffee in the room.

Overall, pretty good.

It was clean, comfortable, and near plenty of good locations. The bathtub was very big and overall the service was great.

In our room, the pillows were pretty thin so it was a bit uncomfortable and the walls were paper thing so we could hear our neighbours. In addition, the window wasn’t openable, which would have been great so we could get fresh air.
