Best accommodation I've ever had in the region. Hats off!

The location was excellent. The room was very clean and modern, breakfast was amazing. The hosts, Anne and Jon were absolutely lovely, very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely return and recommend to friends!

I can't think of anything that could be improved.

Ellen House for your Matlock adventure

Great location. It is a short walk down the road to the town and local restaurants/hotels. The station is even closer if you want to go to Matlock Bath to experience the Heights of Abraham or Cromford for the Mill complex. Arrive by train or bus to Matlock Bath and the cable car is discounted. This is a quiet location with welcoming hosts who provide a marvellous breakfast to order.

perfect location, Ann and John were the perfect hosts, wonderful breakfast, supported an early start on the Saturday with a wonderfully packed breakfast, dining room spotless with a beautiful breakfast, room was spotless. would definitely stay here again

Fantastic breakfast fresh fruit home made jam & marmalades whole presentation was great Location very good a short walk away from town on a no through road with allocated parking (couldn't better that) Room attractively decorated with home made biscuits provided (lovely touch) plenty of storage space Hosts attentive & knowageable about area

Perfect B&B for a Peaks holiday

Great room, great location, fantastic anemities & garden. Exquisite breakfasts and wonderfully friendly and helpful hosts. Everything was 10/10. Already planning a second trip in the summer.

Very relaxing and the bed was very comfortable.

Very comfortable and close to town. Parking available by permit. Wonderful hosts. Excellent breakfast.

Ellen House B&B Excellent.

A lovely well presented B&B in a wonderful location, our hosts were lovely and welcoming, breakfast was really nice with some lovely touches ie home made jams and marmalade. Our room was very clean and tidy and very well presented again with some lovely touches just to make our stay extra special. We would highly recommend Ellen House B&B

Amazing little gem!!!

Fantastic hosts with the perfect amount of welcoming spirit.. They had a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding areas and really made our stay with them comfortable. The room was immaculately clean and the breakfast was extremely tasty. We will definitely return and refer family and friends.

A fabulous stay in Matlock

Everything. It was excellent and surpassed all our expectations. Anne and John were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. The room and facilities were spotless. The breakfast was first class and so much choice too. A particular mention for the superb South African breakfast that I tried - it was wonderful. They were both very knowledgeable about the local area which helped us plan our time too.

Had a 2 night stay at Ellen's B&B. Room was clean and spacious, bed was comfy and I liked the fact that they had elements of their south African heritage around the room / house. Breakfast was included in our stay, which included fruit / yoghurt / toast as well as a fry up. Overall the best breakfast we have had at any B&B to date. Property is situated within a short distance to Matlock centre, but also walking distance to Matlock Bath, Mam Tor, Abraham Heights etc. We will definitely return in the Spring/Summer. Thank you Anne and John for a lovely stay at your home.

Lovely friendly welcome, very clean and tidy. Lots of little extra touches that made the perfect stay. Breakfast was fantastic!! John and Anne were happy to suggest nice places to visit in the area. A really lovely weekend break, made all the nicer staying at Ellen House.

What an amazing b & b Ellen house at Matlock is. John and Anne, the owners, have a wonderful friendly attitude towards their guests. They take time to get to know you and you’re left with a feeling that you’re part of the family. The rooms are lovely, very bright and airy and the little extras are second to none. John cooks beautiful breakfasts with an amazing choice which sets you up for the day. We really enjoyed chatting about their lives in South Africa with some really amusing anecdotes. Would definitely recommend this little gem of a place. Nigel and Cath Perry.

Where to start! John and Anne were lovely - so friendly and we instantly felt welcome. The breakfast was fabulous and there was everything you could possibly want available (fresh fruit, yogurts, granola and their famous cooked breakfast), all of which was unbelievably delicious. The room had such lovely décor, was clean and comfortable and, to top it off, nice and quiet. I would 100% stay here again!

Nothing - I really enjoyed my stay, the location, the room I and I really appreciated how tentative our hosts were!

Lovely we had a great time which exceepur expectations

The location was excellent very central. The breakfast was superb. Homemade jams and marmalade, stilton mushrooms, bacon sausages all very high quality. The hosts Anne and John were lovely and made us feel very welcome.

The bed could have been a little comfy for me though my grandson slept like a log. Didnt need all the cushions on the bed as didn't use them and not much room to store them

Perfect!!

The room was spacious with plenty of storage, The king size bed was comfy and they did offer an exchange for the feather pillows. It was nice to be able to use the garden to relax. plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room and loved the tasty homemade flapjack which was a bonus. The breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit and homemade jam and marmalade, The cooked breakfast was very well done and seasoned, It set you up very well for the day ahead. The hosts...Anne and john were great!!, they were so lovely and funny with a lot of stories to tell which were very interesting. The parking was very easy and safe opposite Ellen House as you were given a permit to park. The location was excellent for the town and amenities. Can not Fault it.
