Exceptional

Everything was amazing. The hotel was exactly as advertised and Debbie and Paul were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was just what we needed to set us up for a day in the hills. The little touches made the stay one to remember and we'll definitely be back!

Great location, great room, great hosts, great flapjacks! Highly recommend this place!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Water Wheel. Perfect location in the middle of Ambleside, but nicely tucked away from any noise. Debbie and Paul were wonderful hosts, and just lovely people in general! The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the flapjacks were amazing! The attention to detail and homely touches were very much appreciated. Would highly recommend this guesthouse to others!

Perfect guesthouse from which to enjoy your stay in Ambleside.

Waterwheel Guesthouse is the perfect combination of a characterful, historic property that still feels modern and comfortable. Wonderfully friendly hosts and a great location make this a hidden gem worth seeking out. Oh, and the homemade flapjacks that guests receive will be the best you ever taste!!

Quaint and confortable home from home guesthouse in Ambleside

Quaint guesthouse in the centre of Ambleside. Debbie and Paul were great hosts, lovely cooked breakfast every morning, homemade flapjacks in our room each day, free parking park permit for duration of our stay in the Lakes. A very pleasant stay.

We just keep going back! The Waterwheel Guest House is the best B&B in Ambleside and Paul & Debbie make it so! The guest house is amazing and prepared to the highest of standards and the small details make the difference. The breakfast hits the spot everytime and the freshly baked goodies in the room add to the country feel. Paul & Debbie's local knowledge makes sure you get the best out of every trip.

Room and location good. The proprietors friendly and helpful.

The cooked breakfast was a little disappointing but the fruit salad offering was a bonus. Primarily for walkers and other tourists. No facilities or space in room to work.

Warm, welcoming and ideally located.

The rooms were clean, charming and quaint. The hosts also left little treats in the room which were lovely. We really enjoyed the deep bath, underfloor heating, and breakfast (especially the Porridge!).

Autumn weekend stay

Lovely, comfortable and very well supplied (welcome tiffin, snifter of port a particularly nice touch) room and bathroom. Super friendly hosts and a nice breakfast. Loved our window seat overlooking the river and water wheel. Parking worked perfectly with the permit.

Peaceful and central location in busy Ambleside

Very central location in Ambleside with free parking. We had a top floor room with a lovely roll top bath. Just what was needed after a day out walking. Breakfast was cooked to order and was a great start to the day.

Beautiful guesthouse with amazing hosts!

Debbie and Paul were perfect hosts! They are local experts who really want to make sure you have the best time whilst in Ambleside. Not only that, the location of the guesthouse couldn’t be better with a picturesque stream just out the front door, beautiful rooms, spacious bathroom and delicious breakfast! Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Wonderful little gem

Location fantastic, rooms brilliant, owners so friendly.

Everything was great. At a push, I'd like to have had two sausages or two bacon at breakfast. But this is probably just me being greedy. Haha

The location was excellent Paul and Debbie great host’s, free car parking provided ,breakfast lovely and plentiful,homemade flapjack in the room not just on arrival but replenished each day as was tea coffee ext ,also they left us a bottle of Prosecco as painting outside of building which was out of there control but very appreciated thank you for lovely stay will be returning 👍

The property was clean and had fabulous roll top bath and free toiletries which smelt great everything you needed was there lovely view of mill wheel opposite

The best weekend in beautiful surroundings

This place is just amazing very beautiful setting the owners are so nice and can’t do enough for you as well as having extensive knowledge of the area. spotlessly clean and the rooms come with little extras like homemade cake along with tea/coffee water etc provided. Breakfast was beautiful local produce we will definitely be back

Fantastic location for exploring Ambleside, lovely hosts, making us feel very welcome, very nice touches with the homemade Tiffin, it was a lovely clean room and the breakfasts were delicious.
