Sehr liebevoll gestaltetes Hostel!

beautiful open plan living (naturist optional)hostel! The best place to meet likeminded travelers, recharge and live comfortably in nature. Up at the hostel it was run by volunteers who put in a lot of care which was great, adds a little something to the place! Nice walking trails and hidden gem spots all over.
I liked everything!

Loved it here. Great trails offering the chance to spot wildlife. Lovely chill out areas.
Not for you if you don’t like bugs/creepy crawlies! Everything is very out in the open.

I had a great time, you are in the middle of nature with so many animals, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped, the trails are well marked, also if they have any fruits on the trees you are free to have them and they are very yummy!

The Hostel is located into the jungle very close to Corcovado National Park.
It has two well equipped kitchens.
When walking the associated walking trails animals like snakes, spiders, frogs, howler and white-faced monkeys... can be observed.
If you don't want to spent your money for a Corcovado tour, then you can have some exciting yet relaxing days in a rainforest instead.
Because of the location, there are a lot of mosquitos and flies.

The location is superb. It’s deep in the jungle but still relatively accessible (via gravel roads and a 30 min uphill hike). There’s a wonderful upstairs seating area to view the rainforest and garden and the individual cabinas with an open side to the jungle are really good. We slept so deeply and soundly while there, and were woken with the loudest dawn chorus of birds and howler monkeys of our whole trip. Amazing choice for solitude and wilderness. We were a bit nervous taking our just turned 6 year old but she walked all the hikes, incl up to and down from the hostel. Of her own accord, she declared how much she loved being surrounded by so much nature and loved the adventure of being in the jungle without electricity and internet!
We loved it all but would just mention that the wifi didn’t work for the entirety of our stay. This was no problem for us (and we enjoyed it all the more) but for people reliant on it for information about onward connections, it was a little tricky. Also worth mentioning are the venomous snakes frequently seen on some trails, so people should know this in advance and be prepared to look out for them.

The location is stunning and cannot be topped. The prepared trails are marvellous. And the host gives you a warm welcome from the first moment.

Great hostel in the middle of the jungle with private trails so you can save some money. And very good library.

The trails offer the opportunity to have a relaxed hiking experience. Also the hostel is off grid. This give us the opportunity to have zero distractions from technology. Nice to walk naked in the middle of the jungle.
Although it is a nudist acommodation, the guests are not incentivised to be naked so it becomes akward if you want to get naked and everybody else is dressed. Also, they should offer beverages and food that can be paid by sinpe movil or something like that [credit card].

Absolutely fantastic location, I can't wait to go back. Ron was very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed before heading up to the lodge. The trails were well marked and the trail leading up to the lodge was well maintained.
Nothing we didn't like, the place was exactly what we were looking for.

Simply amazing place. Super unique location in the middle of the rainforest - and still the kitchen was well equipped, and the toilets and showers great. the beds were decent as well, but the most amazing part really is the hiking trails, the deck to watch birds, the waterfalls… you have to experience it
Hint: you have to take all the food you need with you (no refrigerator either), and you have to hike up 30-40 minutes to get to the hostel. leave as much as you can down at the office. and the hike up includes a river crossing

A hidden gem of the Osa Peninsula! Highly recommended to anyone who wants to disconnect and immerse themselves in the nature. You will be surrounded by a pristine rainforest you can hike in the jungle or just relax. The staff and volunteers do everything so that you feel comfortable. Bolita's facilities are perfect to meet basic needs and spend amazing time. It was my second time in Bolita and will definitely repeat!

What an amazing experience.
The hostel is situated on the border of Corcovado National Park and offers a budget friendly alternative to hiking in the jungle and spotting wildlife. We saw sooo many different types of birds, insects and even a snake.
The hiking trails are easy to find and well maintained.
Bear in mind that you will need to trek 30 min to get to the hostel and bring enough food to cook yourself during the duration of your stay. There is no fridge, so plan accordingly.
The showers and toilets were not cleaned regularly.

Simply magical. The place is in total communion with nature, the wildlife is incredible (I strongly recommend going for a night hike where all sorts of animals can be spotted), Ron is extremely nice.

Don't expect the Hilton, do expect the warmest of welcomes, the most AMAZING rainforest location and memories that will last you a lifetime.
We saw so much wildlife on the trails, swam in the waterfalls and walked along the river.
Words do this place no justice

Staying at Bolita was an amazing experience. A lot of people are concerned about the hike going up, but let me assure you once you have made it up there you will ask to stay additional days.
Nothing all was great

The nature is amazing, as is the owner. Really helpful and dedicated to make your stay pleasurable. The trails are really nice and well maintained. The kitchen has everything it needs and more, they really pay attention to the usage of fossil fuels and are very eco-friendly...
The hike up to the hostel is an aggressive one, so don't come here if you don't want to hike. You can leave most of your stuff at the office downstairs but have to bring up your own food

Extremely helpful and caring staff.

Such an amazing set of trails to hike, and the fact that you can hike them “clothing optional” was the icing on the cake!
I have to admit that the initial hike up is an aggressive 45 minutes. After that, it is paradise.

Words cannot express how amazing staying at Bolita is! I booked 4 nights and stayed for 12 if that’s any indication. The location is incredible, views are amazing, trails are spectacular, and to top it all off, the clothing optional aspect of the hostel meant that you can spend all your time in nature in your natural state! Ron and Val are such hospitable hosts and do everything in their power to make everyone as happy and comfortable as possible. There are few places in the world that I’ve been to, if any, that are as special as Bolita Rainforest Hostel.

Eco-friendly, budget adventure hostal AND good beds!
Wish I could give 6 stars. I stayed for 4 days/3 nights and was sad to leave. This hostal is $14 a night which includes access to 17km of (crazy) hiking trails, 5 waterfalls, great beds, unlimited nature sounds, a good system of “pay as you use it” drinks/ supplies, a full kitchen with nice cookware, AND a towel included. Clearly a labor of love, the owner has thought of every detail to make this place eco-friendly and undoubtedly carbon negative, especially considering how many hectares of land are being protected. They have produced no trash in 18 years, instead making tiles and furnitures from non-recyclable plastic. The power is solar, all construction materials are ethically sourced, the water is straight from a spring and even the waste-water treatment system is fully self-contained. Even the tours offered are designed to stimulate conservation in the local economy without the questionable ethics of “crocodile feeding” etc. offered elsewhere. So glad I found this place and it is no surprise that so many people stay longer than planned that they have a special policy that “your bed is yours until you leave”. Naturalist friendly trails are an added bonus.
Slow wifi and no refrigeration.

It’s very rare to find a place like this.
We enjoyed every second.
Thank you Ron!
Just make sure to buy some food before you arrive (you have to cook for yourself)

It is a different experience and you need to be aware of it. However, if you are into wild and unique adventures, this place is for you. In the middle of the jungle and right next to Corcovado park, there are plenty of nature trials with loads of animals and waterfalls. The vibe is great however be aware of poor lighting, lack of privacy and food options! Overall, I totally recommend it! The trail up to the hostel is outstanding (includes crossing some rivers).
