The cleanliness and the location

no me gusto que las camas no tuviesen cortinas ,eso te quita la privacidad,luego que no hubiese recepción 24 h ya que llegue y no pude ni entrar hasta que saliese uno de los huéspedes ,poca Información a tu llegada y tanto a la salida .

Simply the best!

The atmosphere and energy that surrounds this place is like being in heaven! Everybody that comes here becomes family that feels like being at home along with always being cared and accommodated for by the best hostel operators Juan, Aurora, Bernardo and all the volunteers! The facilities in the hostel are immaculately kept with comfortable beds, massive kitchen and sitting room, however the hidden gem of this hostel is the rooftop with a hammock, big seating area and their very own bar. The location of Columbus is perfect for getting to all the main attractions and sights that Las Palmas has to offer. I can guarantee that you will not be disappointed when you stay here!

Absolutely amazing

Columbus Hostel is one of the best places in Gran Canaria! Juan, Aurora and Bernardo managing are the most accommodating with care for each and every guest that visit. All the volunteers are also exceptional at ensuring the cleanliness and efficiency of operations are kept to a very high standard. You will not find a better hostel that has everything along with being close to all the best attractions in Las Palmas!

Everything was fantastic and there was not one thing I could complain about!

Nice surprise.. would return

Friendly staff..especially Francesca..well set up hostel..Good beds..clean bedding..hot showers ..well equipped clean kitchen and dining room..clean floors..I'm a very fussy 68 year old man that uses hostels a lot on holiday so it was very acceptable for me..thanks to the staff.

Toilet bins were full most of the time I was there..but then people putting coke bottles in doesn't help..they could have been emptied more often..generally well kept but some paintwork could have been fresher.

¡Cuidado! Puede encontrarse chinches, también personas durmiendo en la cama de la habitación.

La ubicación porque quedaba cerca de sitios a los que deseaba visitar.

No lo recomiendo. El servicio de check- in, en mi caso, con más de dos horas de atraso, no me permitió ver la habitación. Ante esto, alegando Juan a la reparación de la cama, que estaría lista 25 min. después de mi llegada, cosa que le comunicó el señor alto, calvo y robusto, estimo que de unos 42 años, que se encontraba haciendo obras, quien a muy poco de acercarnos Juan( quien me asistió como recepcionista) y yo, tras el recorrido por las zonas comunes de la instalación, es que manifiesta lo de esos 25 minutos. Llegué poco antes de las 16:30 h, tras lo ya mencionado, tan pronto como Juan me autoriza a tomar una foto a las dos contraseñas que necesitaría para hacer uso de mi reserva, las cuales se ubicaban en el ordenador, me marcho, siendo el arreglo el motivo por el que en ese momento FUE IMPOSIBLE MOSTRARME EL DORMITORIO. Esta reserva la pagué por internet con días de antelación a mi viaje a Gran Canaria, una noche( la del 16 de enero, misma que comprendía el horario a partir de las 14 h del día en cuestión hasta las 11 h del día siguiente, 17 de enero) y en ese período de tiempo, encontramos durmiendo en dicha habitación privada a dos personas distintas. La reserva en habitación privada para dos personas fue para disfrutar de la misma con mi compañero, con quien regreso entrada la madrugada, pasada la 1 am( luego de mi salida de cerca de las 17 h del día anterior, 16 de enero). No necesitamos colocar el código de la puerta principal porque justamente una muchacha peliroja con un pañuelo en la cabeza, salió para encontrarse con dos muchachos a pocos metros de la puerta, dejando esta abierta. Subimos las escaleras, doblamos dos veces a la derecha y una a la izquierda, nos detuvimos para yo colocar el código de la habitación( mi pareja no sabía si las puertas se usaban con: tarjeta, código o llaves) y tras abrir la puerta, observamos a una chica rubia semidesnuda durmiendo en la cama. Nos disculpamos y cerramos la puerta.

Una experiencia mas.

La situacion perfecta. En el medio de Vegueta y a unos pasos del casco antiguo de Las Palmas. Comercios, bares, restaurantes, el mercado... Todo cerca y para ir a pie.

La organizacion del hostel. Son lugares para hospedarse por dias, mucho movimiento a ciertas horas pero nadie concreto en recepcion. Los baños compartidos estan bien pero para la cantidad de gente necesitarian mas. Faltaba algo de control en la limpieza de estos. Por lo demas todo correcto.

Joli bâtiment et bien placé, dommage qu’il n’y ait aucune fenêtre dans la pièce de vie et que l’hostel soit complètement

Bon emplacement. Rooftop très agréable malgré qu’il soit en travaux.

Cafards dans la cuisine. Salle de bain pas propre et pleine d’insectes. Fuite d’eau dans la chambre, eau qui coulait du plafond sur le lit. Avons été changé de chambre où le ménage n’était pas fait. Manager qui parle mal aux volontaires.

Great vibe and location!

Great location, welcoming staff and volunteers. Great vibe. And super clean! Really cool old building and layout. Nice group of people who were social on the terrace! Family dinner was also nice!

The showers weren’t the best since the water clogged, but overall still clean. The water pressure was strong so if you just turned it down a bit it was fine. Someone also did get a bunch of bites (by something) during my stay, but not in my room.

Podían haber hablado español al recibirme. Podían haber tenido mi cama lista a las 15h.cuando regrese por la noche y aun no habían retirado las sábanas del anterior viajero de la cama que me dieron y ya no había personal a las 22:30. Es de asco el estado de los baños.

Columbus N°1 hostel in Las Palmas

Position is super central, basically down the Catedral! Young staff ultra nicely, made a lot of friend there, especially Azou the volunteer she was extremely helping and really special person, a warm greeting from Italy ciao 🤗

I wouldn't go there again

It's not easy to find, because there is only a small sign saying "columbus" at the door. When I arrived at 22.30 in the night, nobody answered the door, even though I had written my exact arrival time which was confirmed by the hostel. I just got into the hostel because another person came back to it. I needed a taxi the next day at 7a.m. The receptionist tried to find one, but only as long as his shift wasn't finished. After that I was left with the problem alone. The hostel was not clean. Especially the bathrooms need a makeover.

The toilets and showers were vile, disgusting infact. Regardless of how nice the living area was I'd never come back based solely on the hygiene.

I really liked the young girl/ receptionist / volunteer who tried to accommodated my requests and Ramino was excellent as he always responded to my emails and further cancellation. Good customer care. But the hostel itself, since ( unluckily) arrived on Saturday was a bit hectic with loud music at the bar ( although it closes at 11pm sharp so it was great but will not work if someone is tired and wants to sleep much earlier, it will be impossible even with the earplugs :). So female only 6 bed dorm window is just overlooking the bar. The building is dark inside and with no windows in the living room so it was hard to know whether the weather was nice and sunny but this should not be an issue:) The location is not my favourite compared to other hostels near the beach but again this is my personal preference, as some people will like this location as it is in the old town.

In general, if the building had windows, the dorm were not overlooking the noisy bar, there were more toilets and bathrooms ( it is worse if you book the rooms near the bar, on the 3rd floor, to go down 2 or 3 floors to the toilet each time:)) would be a good hostel but hard to change the original architecture and set up I guess:).

Cool hostel for a city break.

Very friendly and helpful staff . Comfy beds , and overall is trendy and clean. Very nice common area where you can easily meet people and make friends. Great location for shopping, and night life. I will probably come back for another city break.

The toilets where massive dissapointed. The bathrooms are rotten and you can smell the mold in there which is actually toxic.... Water is all over the place and there is no space to put ,or hang your clothing when you are taking shower... I had to hang clean clothing on the door handle, and then they have fall into this paddle straight away.

Great location in the old town

Get your exercise for free Dining room on ground floor, kitchen on second floor, bed on third. Showers and toilets on the ground and second floors. Top to bottom 50 steps. My bed was very comfortable and the bedding was new. Towels are €2 extra. There is plenty of room for food storage and everything you need in the kitchen. Free coffee. WhatsApp group and Christmas Dinner buffet for €10. Table tennis. Laundry service for €5. Extra effort taken by management to decorate for Christmas. Clean, friendly, mostly quiet after 11pm when the roof top bar closes. Great central location. Mercado, bus station, cafes, restaurants, museums, cathedral, all about 5 minutes away. Front door, bedrooms, and good-sized lockers lockable.

Sometimes, there were people drinking and sleeping in the common living area and leaving it and the kitchen a mess, but the staff cleaned it quickly in the morning.

Very good

Excellent location. Working saff very nice, terrace is wonderful. Great place for solo travelers.

Common areas is clean, but floor in the room was not clean, under the bed was empty water botltes, socks and other things. The bathrooms could be better!

I wouldn’t stay again and though it is cheap for the same or just a little more you can get better location and a little

staff was nice and helpful

the facilities were extremely dirty, I honestly do not know how it is allowed to function. the common areas looked improvised, stairways and corridors were very narrow and didn’t have lighting, neither did some of the showers - which for what one can see in the ones that did have light might be a blessing.

good hostel for solo travellers

Great hostel for solo travellers. Perfect to meet other people esp at the roof top bar. staff were incredibly friendly and helpful! they also have good activity nights arranged throughout the week you can get involved in

my room was on the top level and was very basic and not very clean. the showers and toilets were also not great and were not very clean which was a shame
