First class staff. Comfortable balcony room with large modern bathroom. Easily adjustable heating. Comfortable lounge area in which to relax or have lunch/drinks before dinner. Location
Kettle in room needed to be plugged in on floor. Restaurant/drink prices v high.

A picture-perfect spot near the coast with gorgeous walking trails all around. Breakfast on the terrace is lovely. The buffet is basic, cooked breakfast is excellent. The staff in the restaurant are really hard-working and food wonderful. The location is perfect for Glyndebourne
The rooms need air-conditioning as ours was quite hot and the fan provided was no match. Granted it was record heat, but this may be becoming the norm? We had requested check-in at 1 pm and the room was not ready -- it would have been great to get a text to that effect just to plan the afternoon better.

There were two complimentary macarons under a little glass bell, sitting pretty in our bedroom. Charm also oozed from the well decorated living room and exposed beams in our room. The restaurant with its low light, low jazz, low ceiling felt cosy and elegant. The menu was safe but well executed, particularly the vegetarian option. I loved it. We were also brought deep-fried oysters as surprise amuse bouche and that was a first. Thank you so much! (Ps: Do not miss ‘Much ado books’)
There was a copy of the daily mail on offer and that felt unnecessary. Also, a footnote to say that the shower temperature was quite temperamental.

Everything. The house itself was tastefully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The staff were responsive, helpful and respectful. Check-in was very easy, and the rooms were comfortable, with great showers. The breakfast was delicious.
The only downside was parking, but I had been warned about that.

Lovely, friendly small hotel, offering a personal touch. Excellent restaurant serving top quality food. Breakfast cooked to order. Nothing was too much trouble for the helpful staff. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Bathroom was rather small with only a shower and no bath. Some road noise could be heard from our room.

Well-cooked breakfast with the classic option and nice pastries.
The room is well decorated and very well clean with a pretty nice modern bathroom design
Love the launch area, lovely to relax and have a conversation.
To be such a small villages, is plenty of activities for walker and cyclist, and eating out
To be honest, was nothing a fault, the price and service provided is one of the best in the region.
Perhaps they should have a dedicated bike storage room as they are so close the the South Downs Way

The colonial feel, the welcome, the little extra touches, like complimentary tea in the lounge when we wanted it. The restaurant food was excellent. The location was amazing.
We booked a standard room which was a little smaller than hoped and a little noisier, we should have upgraded. The restaurant staff didn’t quite have the art of invisible but excellent service; especially in the day,

Lovely characterful comfortable stay. In village with shops cafes and restaurants. Can access the walking on the downs from the door.

Nothing really, except perhaps the veranda and garden. The staff were very much the best highlight of our stay, especially at breakfast
Dusty and VERY stuffy atmosphere in 2nd floor room, with eves limiting space considerably. Plumbing difficult to fathom. Bed comfortable. Everything about decor looked dull and tired

Good breakfast and facilities
Rooms are small and quite dark no air conditioning and if on the ground floor it's double doors so you can't open them as backs onto public space

Wingrove House is a delightful boutique total in the picturesque village of Alfriston, with immediate access to the South Downs Way. It is only 15 minutes from Glyndebourne and Charleston and Michelham Priory are close by. Our room was spacious and well appointed with a large modern bathroom. The public spaces both inside and outside were excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were of a very high standard.

The meals were delicious and well presented.
The rooms were very musty smelling and there was no security on the downstairs windows

Freshly painted restaurant.
The mattress in room 8 needs replacing.
