*** This home is people friendly, and not pet friendly. The cottage has a strict occupancy limit: only 2 occupants are permitted. Children of all ages, including infants, count as occupants.*** The Captain's Cottage is in a truly wonderful location down a private road to Davison Head. It overlooks the beach at the Isthmus which is a popular spot to sit and enjoy some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see! The Cottage is situated on its own half acre lot with several old growth cedar trees and abundant wildlife. The privacy you will find here may be just what you’re looking for. Built originally as a fishing shack, it has been totally remodeled into a cozy seaside cottage for two. The kitchen is well equipped including full sized stainless steel appliances and a gourmet range. The living room has large picture windows to bring in the light and view regardless of the season. The bathroom includes a pedestal sink and tiled shower. The bedroom features a custom-made Craftsman style Queen bed, a quality mattress, and a new wall mounted Smart TV with YouTube subscription including local channels. Outside is a great deck with a propane BBQ and comfortable seating. The perfect place to enjoy dinner and a glass of wine during the summer evenings. Roche Harbor Resort and Marina is a pleasant walk away. Follow the charming country road and discover a “secret” pathway which leads you on a scenic route along the water’s edge. The recreational options are endless. Everything from Orca whale watching, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, shopping and dining. Bring your own kayak and launch from the Isthmus, Posey Island is only a short paddle away! There is so much more to be discovered while staying at this wonderful property! Please note: residential internet speeds, bandwidth and reliability in the San Juan Islands currently lag behind the mainland. Guests who wish to use videoconferencing, streaming services, or multiple simultaneous internet connections should be aware that performance may not meet the levels they are accustomed to. Guests may need to alter their online work and entertainment plans due to service fluctuations or outages. Please Note: There is a one week maximum occupancy. My wife and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary here - and we loved it. San Juan Island in itself is fantastic, but our stay was even further enhanced by staying at this property - a perfect getaway for 2. Quiet, modern but quaint, beautiful views, tucked away near a few real gems on the Island. We loved it!

If you’re looking for a quiet spot near Roche Harbor that accommodates 2 people comfortably, this is an excellent choice. Great shower, great bed, comfy couch and decent size kitchen. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing cottage in a great neighborhood. Everything was very clean, extremely comfortable and wonderfully equipped. We walked down to the water to watch the sunsets and even saw a fox cross the road and six deer in the yard. We'll definitely be back.

The property was peaceful with a water view to enjoy your morning coffee. It's also a great neighborhood for walking. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings and bedding were high quality. We loved our little weekend trip!

We could not have asked for a more perfect location to stay in. It was secluded enough and was perfect for the two of us. The interior was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so close to Roche harbor, which was nice, and was only a 20 min drive to Friday harbor. Every evening, we would drive over to Lime Kiln state park which quickly became our favorite spot for the vacation. Overall, it was perfect and I would book this location again in a heart beat!

The little one bedroom cabin is well thought out and outfitted tastefully with everything it occurred to us we might want. The remote location was just what we were looking for. There was a hiccup with the key code to get into the cabin, but they had it handled for us within five minutes when we called. My only real hesitation in coming back would be the 10 am check out time. It’s earlier than the norm, and it really ate into the feeling of a leisurely vacation spot.

This place is great and the photos do not do it justice. The interior is very nice, it has a cozy feel, and it is well stocked. The host communication was also excellent.

This cottage was awesome!!! So clean and had all the amenities needed! One of the nicest places we’ve stayed! The view is awesome and loved all the sounds of nature! If you want relaxation and beauty, this is it! We will be back! What a peaceful, beautiful setting!

Fine accommodations
Well appointed cottage, clean, new feel to the facility, all the necessary utensils, household tools, etc. Some difficulty in locating the driveway in the dark at 10:30 pm after an afternoon drive and a weary wait for an 8:40 ferry that was pretty late. But entering the lovely space was very comforting and the fireplace started right up once we discovered the remote.
The setting from the front window in the morning light was picturesque as we sat facing the windows drinking our morning coffee. Thank you.

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing stay within walking distance of Roche Harbor
My spouse and I spent the weekend celebrating our 20th anniversary on San Juan Island and this was the perfect little hideaway. It is a beautiful, peaceful, comfortable, well appointed place. We enjoyed coffee each morning on the back deck looking out over the water and watching bald eagles forage for food. We took the foot trail down to Roche to forage for food ourselves and walk the dock. Nothing is very far away on San Juan Island, so we also spent time checking out Westcott Oyster House, the lavender farm, South Beach, the two historic military camps, Lime Kiln park and lighthouse and much more. Great spot, highly recommended!

We used it as a launching pad for kayaking around the peaceful bay just across the road from property. We sat out on the balcony in the evening and ate dinner. From our deck we watched bald eagles soar overhead, seals frolic in the bay, and a raven family bantering in the trees above. It was such a peaceful and relaxing getaway. We will definitely be back!
