About this house rental

Transport to another world in this eclectic South St. Louis home! Bold colors and decor greet you upon entering this eclectic space. My house is like a traveling museum, with walls covered in photos, paintings, and artifacts from my travels. (I don’t believe in wasted space!) Among other amenities, guests have access to a private pool, sand beach area, 1920's style basement speakeasy, garden, patio with seating, and a full kitchen. I provide the basics for breakfast and other meals. Neighborhood is safe, with lots of parking. The house is complete with fun lights, a costume closet, and other unique features. Perfect for the traveling sports fan or vacationing family looking for an unforgettable stay. The Space: With so much to explore, you might find yourself spending most of your days lounging by the private pool, hanging out in the 1920's speakeasy, enjoying the home theater, playing in the costume closet, or treating yourself to a chair massage. Step into another world and take advantage of the unique amenities that this property has to offer! I supply the basics: ice, food, oils, juice, bread, breakfast supplies, cereal, soups, etc. Guests are welcome have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the food provided. I don't think a guest should have to run to the store to pick up the basics. I usually have some local St. Louis beers in the refrigerator for guests to sample. Kitchen is equipped with 100 different soups and a sandwich press. Guests are invited to use the grill, outdoor bar, and blenders for poolside drinks. The house has fun lights that can be turned on, and Hue light bulbs that that can be changed to any color in the color spectrum. Traditional lighting is also available. There is a theater on the main floor with Netflix, Hulu, STARZ on Demand, HBO, and Amazon Prime available for guest use. Amazon echo can play over one million songs by just saying "Alexa song or artist here." Secure, high-speed WiFi is accessible for guest devices. Guest will have the entire main floor (1000 square feet), 1920's style basement speakeasy (1000 square feet), and access to the private pool area, and gardens. There will be water in the salt water pool from May 3 to October 1st. 2000 square foot home, upstairs is 1000 square feet and basement in 1000 square feet, fun rooms, 2 bedrooms, king sized trundle bed in living room, and sofa bed. 3rd bedroom is the basement. Basement door has lock. Basement stairs are steep so I would not recommend this bedroom for small children, or adults that have issues using steep stairs. If you are looking for a sterile place with a Ikea furniture, and white Walmart sheets, and barren walls, this might NOT be the place for you. If you are looking for a comfortable place with lots of things to look at, colorful lighting, supplies to cook with, a place to relax by the pool, and super soft colored linens, then this is YOUR place. Only registered guest are allowed on premise. No parties allowed. Guest access: Guest will have the entire home, private pool and patio area, and garden. The private salt water pool is open from May 3rd to October 1st. Interaction with guests: If possible I like to give guests a 5 min walk through to show them all the house features, and gadgets , to make their stay more enjoyable. If this is not possible, keys are left in lock box for guests, and code will be texted to them prior to arrival. I maintain the pool, 3 times per week. I contact guests when I am coming over to maintain pool and gardens Other things to note: Late checkouts and early check-ins are possible unless other guests are arriving or leaving on the same day. Basic cooking supplies are provided, so you don't have to spend extra money at the grocery store. 1 grill for use poolside. Why “no children”? This is not a child friendly house due to steep stairs, many breakable objects, and alcohol provided on-site. If you are traveling with children, please consider checking out one of my other nearby rentals, which are appropriate and comfortable for families.

Buyer Beware- Expectations are definitely not reality.
Buyer Beware- Expectations are definitely not reality.
Whoever took the pictures that are on-line of this property but be a genius because what you see is not what you get. This is an older creepy house that the owner put a lot of stuff in to cover up the reality of old furniture, steep stairs and a tiny bathroom that you have to stand sideways to get into. We thought it looked fun- pool, dress up clothes for the kids, a speak easy . . . If we could have gotten our money back after seeing it, we would have left right when we got there. My son, who's a fireman, was worried the whole time we were there about the electrical system not being up to code. The rest- very strange vibe. We also had a dispute about the number of people and extra charges for that. After experiencing such disappointment when we toured the house, we didn't think it was fair to pay the extra so we didn't. Our family is pretty flexible when it comes to VRBOs but this was by far the worst one we have experienced as far as expectations versus reality. Oh, and if you do stay there, be very careful of the neighborhood, one or two blocks and you're in a very questionable part of town, depending on which way you go.

Great experience! Definitely not for germ freaks (but it was very clean overall) Love the art everywhere and I found something new everyday! Fridge isn't as stocked as advertised and not much liquor provided in the pictures though. But simple basics such as eggs. Love the binder with instructions and tips for the area and stay. Only one bathroom though!! So if you're bringing 12 it'll be tight. It's more of 10 comfortably. Definitely recommend for families or people who like to experience the unique side of places to stay! Thank You Erik!
