Good location for what we needed. Efficient friendly and helpful reception staff. Waiting staff in restaurant very good and efficient.
Choice of breakfast was good but because the plates you were using for the food were cold the hot food choice cooled very quickly so meant the food was lukewarm by the time you came to eat it.

Clean and great parking. Lovely quiet location.
Via booking.com I couldn't book my breakfast so that what a little frustrating as it would be good to book everything at once.

loved the position of The Kingfisher, really enjoyed sitting in the bar garden looking out onto the river Ouze, Our dog was made very welcome, offered water in restaurant and supplied with a bed in our room.
We ate in the restaurant on the evening of our stay, and chose the Sunday roast which was offered for lunch and evening meal, would have to say was disappointed and the meal tasted like it had just been warmed up after the lunchtime session. however breakfast the next morning was very good.

This is a little Gem. The food was great. Staff were amazing. A special mention to Maggie, our breakfast waitress.
The shower was a bit underwhelming.

Had to wait a long time for my breakfast to arrive, the ticket was lost in the kitchen, once it arrived it was really nice, staff very apologetic, would have been 10/10 if delivered on time.
these things happen occasionally

Breakfasts were excellent. Good ingredients are well prepared and the service is attentive. Poached eggs served with Eggs Benedict, Royale and Florentine were perfectly cooked.
The best asset which The Kingfisher has is its staff. They are all friendly, polite, efficient, and happy at their work. What a difference a smile makes to a guest! .
The furniture in our bedroom was rather dated, and tired.
We had dinner in the pub on one night but thought the food rather ordinary and unremarkable,

The room was big and comfy, it had a bath which I love and had tea and coffee making facilities which was lovely too. Breakfast was plentiful although not very hot but still very tasty.
The view from the breakfast room was stunning and everything was laid out well and very clean.
It was a breakfast buffet which they said they didn’t normally do but did because it was very busy. This meant the food wasn’t as hot as I would have liked but it still tasted lovely and was just a very minor thing.

Beautiful riverside setting. Very quiet.

We had a suite with river view which was lovely. The bed was super comfortable and the accommodation was spotlessly clean.
Music from restaurant below, even though not loud, was surprisingly intrusive. I especially didn’t like being woken up by it just after 7am….but I mentioned this to reception and all was quiet the following morning 😊.
No drinking water was provided in the room.

The setting, bar and restaurant
Had two roast dinners and the potatoes had been recooked or reheated.
Two staff members emptying industrial waste bins at 12 midnight under our window. Under a big sign which read. QUIET RESIDENTS SLEEPING

All very clean and comfortable. Good breakfast.
As mentioned in other reviews, the shower pressure is an issue there. For us it wasn't a massive issue, but it's worth mentioning.

close to wedding venue at the barns.
they gave us the wrong room key so we walked into someone else’s room. they double checked the second room before we went in as not 100% confident in room allocation.

Location and friendly staff, beautiful food.
A great place to stay.
Only that we had to push the two single beds together to make a double.

the hotel is in a great location for Bedfordshire and has reasonable facilities. The restaurant is particularly good with a wide and quite original selection of dishes. Breakfast also excellent. the Hotel is well staffed and they are welcoming.
I know there is a energy crisis but the rooms are quite cold - they could do with turning the heating up.

fabulous location, friendly staff
service in restaurant slow. very low water pressure

everything was fine except that for some reason in room 42 i could hear a constant dripping of water for several hours from 12 till about 3 which obviously disturbed my night sleep, the dripping was not from my room but either next door or maybe a tank in the loft above the room
