About this house rental

This fully renovated downtown home features an exceptional location in the heart of Bar Harbor within walking distance to all downtown restaurants, shops, a supermarket, and amenities including the main hub of the island wide free bus system. Walk to the local bike shop to rent bikes, pack a lunch and head straight to the dock where your boat departs, or grab the kids for a quick pre-dinner ice cream. You're on vacation, after all, spend your time playing and not driving! Situated in a small quiet residential neighborhood in the heart of Bar Harbor and just a stone's throw from the grocery store, the Honeybee House is a historic 1920’s home that was completely renovated with a more functional open floor plan and bright big kitchen. Featuring a lovely yard with a vibrant flower garden that compliments the deck with picnic table and gas grill, a large furnished glassed-in sun porch welcomes you into the house. Downstairs is the living room with ample seating, a spacious modern open kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area, and full bathroom. A door from the kitchen leads to the grill area and deck. With the proximity to the grocery store, this arrangement is great for cooking enthusiasts by providing the opportunity for some wonderful family meals. The second floor is the sleeping area with 3 bedrooms and a full bath. The master bedroom has a king and stunning handcrafted cherry wardrobe; the second bedroom is a custom queen over queen bunk bed, allowing for 1 or 2 couples or a gaggle of kids; and the third bedroom has a queen. The Honeybee House is just the right combination of quiet yet convenient, with ample space and historic charm, yet an affordable rental price. You get the whole house, the flowers and hummingbirds, and all the fresh air of Acadia National Park you can handle. 2 off-street parking spots on parking pad (2 cars max). We have been managing property rentals since the year 2000 and have had the pleasure of serving over 1000 tenants since that time. We are physically located nearby to the Honeybee House in case you need us, but we respect the privacy of our guests. Honeybee is the perfect location for exploring Bar Harbor and everything it offers. The 2 parking spaces are highly valuable! It’s in a quiet neighborhood, so maybe don’t invite the loud friend or family member, at least not if you like to hang outside in the evening. All in all we had a great stay! The only reason it didn’t earn 5 stars for me was due to the quality of beds, but I have really high standards.

The location was nice. Close to grocery and walk to town. Neighbors across the street were very nice The couches may have been replaced since last year and hope they were as they need to be. Sank into a hole / sat very low and weren’t comfortable. Had to go to Walmart to buy a fry pan as the pans there are old and dented up, rusty and looked gross and didn’t want to use them. The clam steamer pot only had one handle. Washer and dryer were down a narrow flight of old steps in the basement. Not HE but worked. I asked so I could bring correct detergent, if they were HE and Jen “couldn’t remember” if they were or weren’t. Just disappointing overall for what it cost to rent. Was not cleaned up outside - weeds galore. Sun porch faced the sun all day so was extremely hot and couldn’t enjoy being out there during the day. The top bunk bed was not made up, which was one if the reasons we stayed there, so my daughter and grandaughter could share the room but have separate large beds. Jen said I should have contacted her, but why wouldn’t it just have been made up? Again, just didn’t live up to the expectations of what was advertised versus what was there.

We are a family of 6 adults coming in to visit, hike, and experience Bar Harbor for the first time. The house accommodated us quite well. The location was great as we could walk to everything downtown.

The Honeybee House is in a quiet neighborhood tucked behind all of the downtown and waterfront activity. Easily walk to The Reading Room for dinner (fabulous!), do some shopping or spend time in Acadia National Park. House was very clean with comfortable beds and ample space.

The property was clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with tools. We stayed in the king room and the bed was very comfortable. We used the house as a jumping-off point for Acadia so we made breakfast (nearly) every morning, and lunch to pack for hikes in the park. It’s a short walk to Bar Harbor restaurants and the main grocery store, Hannaford, is less than a 5 minute walk. The neighborhood is quiet and we enjoyed our stay very much.
