Unrivalled hospitality and good vibes. Bushi is an interesting, intelligent guy with a kind heart.
Futon was of the extra thin kind.

Easy to get to from train, very welcoming. Bushi (owner) was very friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable of the area and history. Very nice to talk with.

Bushi-san’s welcome and hospitality were exceptional and made it feel as if we were being welcomed into a Japanese home rather than holiday accommodation. I am looking forward to staying again. The little room we stayed in had a double bunk and we were so cozy. Conversations with Bushi-san and hearing about the history of Kamakura were a highlight of our stay, as were meeting other guests from around the world and sharing a song or two with our host.

Cozy place that has a homely feeling. The host Bushi is a super guy with lots of knowledge about the area and Japanese history. He is also super nice and a great chef!
The mattresses are a bit hard so if you have back problems maybe you should stay somewhere else.

The two things I like most about the property are the owner's, Bushi's, dedication to the cultural experience in Kamakura, and his passion for accessibility for people with disabilities. For the first point, Bushi wears samurai armor and can organize many tours and experiences for guests. To the second point, the lower level bathroom of the guest house, where the bath is, has been fitted for handicap use. It's surprising at first, but the more I think about it, I like that detail.
It's also nice to stay in a very old, historic house.
The downside of an old historic house is.. it's old. Unfortunately, our room was right next to the upstairs restroom and we were woken up each time other guests went there, because the screen door to the hallway is very thin.
Of course, this isn't anyone's fault, but it is something to consider.

This place is worth the visit! The owner is sweet and interesting. The house, it feels like sleeping in someone’s house and it feels really authentic. I fully enjoyed the experience and breakfast was great
The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but for one night it’s ok!

I've loved having exotic experiences when travelling overseas, so I am totally impressed with both the Japanese Traditional accommodation with very powerful AC and hospitable services given by the owner Bushi San and his assistant Koki San. The breakfast provided was also very good. Bushi San cooked it for me by himself. During my stay, he's demonstrating how to make mochi in a traditional way. That's amazing.
None. I am not a picky person though, wishing to go back to Tokyo very soon :)

Very unique designs inside including the sumarai armor. The breakfast was made by the host and his neighbors ,and very traditional.
We enjoyed our conversations with him!

Bushi and the rest of the team were very welcoming and helpful. Furthermore, the guest house has an excellent location, being close to JR Kamakura Station (about 10 minutes on foot) yet in a quiet neighbourhood.
I stayed in the tatami-room with futon, which were very uncomfortable (in contrast to other ryokan I have visited). Even stacking multiple futon on top of each other did not help much. Second, the walls and ceiling are very thin: I could hear the person under my room snoring and talking). When there's wind the whole house rattles. Although I intended to stay here for four nights, I checked out after the second sleepless night in search of more comfort.

Very close to Kamakura Station, the host is very nice and friendly. A historical Japanese style guesthouse.
The room is a little bit small and the sound insulation is not very good, can hear upstairs’ footsteps clearly.

This was really an experience, in the proper sense of the word. Don’t go there expecting space or modern facilities, this would not be for you.
But spending the night in a traditional Japanese house, sharing a breakfast and having a great conversation with the owner who is passionate about history, people and inclusion was a standout of our trip in Japan.

We stayed two nights, my wife and my child, 8. Bushi and company was the best thing that happened to us in Japan, an unforgettable experience and they made good friends with the little one. The house is very authentic and we keep very good memories, the perfect situation, we loved Kamakura.
I think that two nights is enough, you are not looking for comfort like in a Hotel but rather the experience of living something like that.

This place was so charming and the people so kind the lack of luxury was easy to ignore. The traditional breakfast was delicious and the location in this quaint beach town make it a place I would return in a heartbeat!
I am a bigger person and it was a bit tight
In terms of space in bed and at the breakfast table.

Amazing staff and other guests, Bushi San was a great host, accessible showers, great breakfast. Very much a homely bed and breakfast vibe. Close to the station and beach. Please ask about the stories of this places it really cool to hear how it came to be.

We stayed 15 Nights at Irodori and had an unforgettable time that will stay with us for the rest of our life's. Seriously, it was that special. Bushi-sama is a very special person, he built a home for everyone no matter where you come from and what you have and what you don't have. He fights for a better future for the young generation and gives them hope. He inspires everyone to be the best version of themselves and to do good. The guest house also attracts a lovely community that comes for visits, and we enjoyed many things like a Mochi-making event, where we met many good-hearted people, who do incredible things like building orphanages, helping people with disabilities, running a free school for dropouts and so on. We also did a Samurai tour wearing Samurai armour (a dream come true for my husband), enjoyed a lovely Aromatherapy massage by Megumi-san, listened to the weekly singing group and many more things. People come and visit, sometimes have dinner, and you get to interact with everyone because it is a small and homely guesthouse. We enjoyed many evenings in the communal area chatting with guests and made lots of friends. The staff is incredible and really cares for you. I mean really cares for you. To give an example: I was pregnant while I was there and they tried very hard to cook different breakfast meals that were great for pregnant women (thank you Masa-san), they researched and helped me book an appointment at hospitals, offered to come to translate, and so on. They are also excellent tour guides and are always happy to help you plan your trip. Philip and I want to thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done for us. We will cherish these memories forever. We miss everyone already and are looking forward to visiting you again one day!

Bushi was incredibly welcoming and friendly! Really loved learning from a Japanese local and from other guests all around the world. And the breakfast was *chefs kiss*. Very good home cooking.
The first floor bedroom is a little small for four people. I think if you're visiting you would want a max of 3 people in that room just because only 3 futons can fit on the tatami mats.
