About this house rental
Shore Thing Cape Charles (formerly known as Purple Daze on HGTV’s Beachfront Bargain Hunt S26 E12) is a beautiful beach house in the gated community of Kings Bay. Only one short block away from a small private beach and a quick walk to the Oyster Farm Seafood Eatery! Ride your bike or take a golf cart less than a mile away into historic downtown Cape Charles to enjoy the public beach, free fishing pier, and the shops and restaurants along Mason Avenue. This beach house boasts an updated kitchen with brand-new stainless steel appliances including a gas range! The 1st-floor master suite has a king bed and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower and a large tub. The 2nd-floor rooms include a queen bedroom with a balcony, a bedroom with two twins and a balcony, a double bunk-bed room, and a jack-and-jill bathroom. There is also a 3rd-floor loft with a wet bar, fridge, and TV- it’s one of our favorite places to watch the breathtaking sunsets. *The Ring doorbell camera is installed on the front of the house for the security of the property only. Everything you need will be provided: bed sheets, bath towels, beach towels (5), a beach cart, beach chairs (8), and beach toys; a fully stocked kitchen; high-speed internet; 4 TVs with Amazon Fire Sticks. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Disney for your use, but do not have cable or dish TV. For your outdoor adventures, we provide our guests with two adult beach cruisers, two single-person kayaks, and a paddle board. *Signed waiver required* Cape Charles is golf cart friendly so RESERVE YOUR GOLF CART EARLY when booking your reservation. Bay Creek is also a short drive where you can enjoy a 2-mile-long private beach, an outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day through Labor Day), and tennis courts. Come stay at Shore Thing to enjoy the good life on the Chesapeake Bay!

My friends and I make an annual trip to Cape Charles, and this home was the perfect accommodation. Plenty of beds, bathrooms, and space for 5 men. Clean, up to date, easy to access. Would absolutely return.

This was our first time to Cape Charles. The home made for the best location for our family's stay. The location within the gated community was perfect, the home was immaculate and had everything we needed. Loved being able to walk down to the private beach for the sunset each night. Quick drive into town or to the public beach. Host was friendly, communication was quick and provided great recommendations when asked. Highly recommend!

We live in the neighborhood but our house wasn't big enough to host ALL the family visiting for the week. This house was very convenient, comfortable, and the kitchen made cooking meals for 16 guests much easier... new appliances, two dining tables, and a nice size pantry to store everything. The primary bedroom on the same floor as the kitchen and living area was really helpful for my parents who are in their mid-70s. Overall a good stay and will do it again!

We loved the house, it fit us perfectly! It was well stocked, appreciated all the towels, kitchen had everything we needed! Beds were very comfortable, even the bunks!
The only thing we would have liked would be an outdoor shower for the sandy kids!

This was the best home rental experience I've ever had. The house was fully stocked -- with everything you could possibly want. Very clean, a truly spectacular location if you have a golf cart. The hosts thought of everything. Board games galore, internet that actually allows you to stream. And what a perk to have access to kayaks and a paddle board -- the kids and adults loved giving them a go on the private beach. I cannot recommend this location enough. A MUST STAY!

This house was fantastic for our stay in cape Charles. The owners are amazing; they are to the point & extremely helpful/available to answer questions.
The owners are so generous with having chairs, beach toys, kayaks, linens/towels/soaps & much more available for us to utilize while there. The kitchen had everything we needed. Board games & books for the beach!
The house is close to the beach; we either walked or load our rented golf cart & drove the block.

We stayed at the property for the weekend while attending a wedding in town. The place was beautiful, clean, located close to all locations in town and had a beautiful view. Our family and especially our boys enjoyed our time at the place. The owners are wonderful to work with and very responsive. Would love to stay here again when we return to town!

First and foremost, Kelly and Dan were exemplary hosts. They were extremely thorough with the process from check in, during our stay and checkout. The property was magnificent. The layout was great for a family gathering of eight and also afforded everyone the privacy they needed. The property was fully stocked with anything that you needed. We would highly recommend this property as annual vacation spot or just for a weekend getaway. We have visited the Eastern Shore several times; however, this was by far our best experience. Thanks again to Kelly and Dan for sharing their beautiful home with us.

We loved visiting Cape Charles in September when everything is open but it is quiet and warm (not hot). The place was great and it has all the amenities like bikes, toys, cards, spices etc. We would have given it a 5 but the checkout procedures were more onerous than we expect (e.g., strip the beds, vacuum, gather all the towels, take out all the trash). Also, the HOA really needs to clean up the glass on the private beach (we picked up a ton!) but didn't feel safe there so we went to the public beach which was awesome. Very nice neighborhood and we want to come back.

What a darling place for our family to enjoy together!
Cape Charles is perfect for children and adults … our own basically private beach was so nice and the children enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and swimming. We loved our pool time in Bay Creek as well!
Kelly was so great with responding quickly to my questions and made us feel so welcome in their comfortable and beautiful home.
We all had a relaxing time together… and the days flew by too quickly!

We had a great time at this rental. The location is great. It's close to town and we were even able to ride to the other Bay Creek neighborhoods in our rented golf cart. We liked that the house had kayaks and bikes for use. The neighborhood pool was a plus, as well. We would definitely stay here again.

The property and location was great. We love Cape Charles. The communication between owner and guests was responsive. It was practically perfect. To be perfect, perfect, perfect we’d suggest additional placemats (there were 5), additional chairs for the dining table (we did move kitchen chairs and bar stools), and a firmer mattress in the queen bedroom. Thanks for the wonderful family vacation.

Great stay!
The neighborhood and location worked well for us since we had our 1-year-old granddaughter with us and it was very convenient to haul our "stuff" back and forth to the private beach. The bedrooms in the house gave us plenty of room. If we had one very small issue, the living room was a bit tight for 7 adults and a child to scoot around. Could have use some more seating as well. It was a hot week so a few ceiling fans on on the back deck might have allowed us to sit out back more. Otherwise, the extra amenities provided were greatly appreciated (the kayaks and wakeboard were well utilized). And I have to say the our host, Kelly, was absolutely awesome. So, helpful and communicative! We are definitely considering renting here again next summer!

Absolutely wonderful
I really don't have enough good things to say about our vacation here. The house was wonderful. I've never stayed anywhere so well stocked. Toys, books, games, outside toys, beach gear, almost every toiletry you could need, towels, linens, and more! It made it so much easier, especially traveling with kids. The location was perfect. It's in a beautiful neighborhood. The walk to the beach is so easy and short and the beach itself is so cool, very private (we were the only people there most days), and has gorgeous sunsets. Also, it's an easy bike ride or 15 min walk into the adorable town. Our hosts were some of the best we've ever worked with. They were so kind, responsive, and helpful. Highly recommend!

Recently stayed here for an extended family getaway. The house was well stocked and well maintained, it had everything we needed. Great location, close to the bay and a quick ride or walk into town. Kelly and Dan were very accommodating of a last minute change in plans. Would definitely stay here again!

Fall Getaway
Great experience with easy arrival and departure process. Kelly was quick to answer all questions and was a pleasure to work with. My family enjoyed the short distance to the beach restaurants and town. The house was clean, cheerful and had lots of room to gather. I plan on being back in the future. Perfect!

This house has it all! The location is perfect and the owners very welcoming and organized. We went for a weekend of golf and relaxation. So there were many things we didn't use but I can tell you there are kayaks, a paddleboard, cooler, bikes, etc. The kitchen appliances were all new (though I wasn't there to cook ) The place is nicely decorated and in really nice shape! And again that location is everything. I would definitely recommend.
