This was our first time in a Ryokan/Onsen and it was such an amazing experience. We had 2 young children with us and Motoyu Ryuusenkaku caters perfectly for young families. They have everything you'd need, kids slippers, yukatas, high chairs and even a large kids play area that kept them entertained.
The staff are some of the most polite, warm, friendly and attentive people we met in our time in Japan, I can't speak higher of them especially Aska who took great care of us.
The food is incredible, we went with the full dinner plan (Kaiseki) which is served to you in your room, the quality is superb and we got to experience a huge range of traditional Japanese courses.
Traditional breakfasts are taken in the communal dining area and are just as wonderful as the dinners.
We went with the mountain view room which was fantastic, many an hour was spent drinking tea and just taking in the view.
The baths themselves (indoor and outdoor) are terrific too. They have excellent facilities and guests are provided with everything you'd need for a great onsen experience. The baths take in the same mountain view, it's very tranquil.
A free shuttle bus is offered to take you to and from Arima's town so you don't have to worry about climbing the steep hill back to the Ryokan.

-Private onsen and affordable room rates as compared to other hotels nearby
-Very suitable for children to stay
-Free yukata to wear during stay
-Has indoor swimming pool though we didn't try
-Very comfy and spacious room of traditional style futon
-Nice scenery from room
-There is a brownish mochi (few free snacks in the room) that is extremely nice. You can buy it at the counter too
-The free shuttle car by the hotel only starts in the afternoon but we arrived in the morning
-It was raining and we walked up from the bus station to the hotel. It was pretty tough due to slopes and all drenched. If there was shuttle car by the time we arrived, would be a perfect 10

The onsen was very beautiful and relaxing! The staff was very helpful and made us feel super welcomed.
Our traditional style room had a gorgeus view, and even though the place is familyfriendly, the room and the possibility for a private outdoor bath made our stay feel like a romantic getaway.
The decor of our room was a bit outdated, but everything was clean and functional. It's a bit of an uphill to walk from the central of Arima Onsen. They have their own shuttle bus though and we managed just fine without a car.

I arrived at 10 pm. The warm welcome of “Wasabi”(one of the owner’s dog) soon healed my heart. It felt even warm especially after a 5-hour riding in the rain. The whole property was extremely clean and refreshing, with soft beds, as long as the heating carpet in the living room. The breakfast of scrambled eggs and sausage was great. Thanks to the owner for providing us all those warmness. I will never forget what and who I met this night.
Actually, I recall nothing unfavorable. If I have to say something, I would like the water pressure of the shower to be lower. It felt a little itching.
