Location, overall setting
Although there is wildlife, it is not in abundance, and hard to find. However what we actually saw was awesome.

game drives were not too long and we managed to see most of the big five. the property gardens were very nice and the stars at night were beautiful!
if you’ve done many other safaris be aware that this is a small reserve without many grazers or predators due to its size. for a first timer safari I think this is great as it’s small and everything is accessible, it’s close to Cape Town and great for a weekend get away. Lastly for the price it’s great value for money because it’s all included in the super affordable rate. Do not excpect a luxury 5-star experience because this is not in that price range.

Remote natural location on the edge of the Karoo. Multiple low buildings among beautiful cactus gardens,
Nothing that we did not like.

Rooms are very comfortable, and the location is great.
Game drives are good.
The food was very disappointing, Staff were not on par.
We expected more for the price paid.
It's definitely a one night stay only.

Poorly we could`nt stay in Inverdoorn because auf floodet ways and had to go to Aquila. So all the Questions are answered for Aquila and not for Inverdoorn. We were looking for a small game reserve like Inverdoorn and ended up in a big one. It was not the fault of inverdoorn, but still it feels like spending money to something you didn`t book for. The game drive was good, we had a very informative guide.
The meals ad Aquila have been terribile, meat was dry and totally overcooked, Salad for mixing yourself terrible, for us it seems like a Dinner or lunch in a youthhostel. never again Aquila Game Resort. In all my 7 Weeks travelling in SA, here the food was the worst.

We stayed at The Kuganha Tented Camp - it was wonderful! Great service, very tasty food (breakfast, lunch and dinner). They took great care of us.
The morning and evening safaris were impressive!

The room was nice, the pool and some food was great.
The first impression was not so good as they couldn't find our booking. The gamedrive was to long and no stop for drinks which we had expected.
On departing it was a mess with our bill.

The location of the villas and surroundings was beautiful. Nice gardens with succulents and cacti, open covered awnings over dining tables etc gave a great authentic African feel.
On the trip we came across a group of giraffes grazing on trees quite nearby. This was great. I also enjoyed getting up close to the only 2 elephants on the second day. Magical for me.
I think you need to go to this adventure with your eyes wide open. In my view it was not the authentic African safari that I expected. It felt a bit stage managed and we went out in convoy on a pre-set route. In fact we were always on clearly marked and heavily used tracks. Our guide was excellent and informative. I couldn't have asked for more from him. My most disappointing experience was the low numbers of animals. There were only 2 old male elephants, 1 lion which we did not see, and we saw no leopards. There was no reference to leopards even being there. Big 5? The cheetahs are mainly tame and do not wander freely - in an enclosed area. The there is a staged event where a cheetah chases a vehicle which is a good spectacle from a viewing platform, but the only way to get closer to the cheetahs is to pay for the Cheetah experience - which was very informative. The evening meal was decidedly average.

the setting and buildings were beautiful. everyone was very kind however it seemed knowing knew what was going on. that was frustrating as a guest.
the communication between staff and guests and also the service at meal times. it didn’t seem to flow correctly.

Liked the venue, particularly having our own wee house. Johannes was a very good, knowledgable and considerate guide. Enjoyed the cheetahs education although would have liked to have observed more animals as it was fairly expensive for a talk about cheetahs whilst watching two sleeping!
Although we saw four of the big 5 we felt the numbers were rather sparse, one lion, two elephants, two giraffes, etc.. Thought the food could be better and the wine was quite expensive.

Beautiful road driving there. The accommodation looks good when you arrive.
We had a very bad experience in this lodge, never happened before in SA. We had an introduction meeting with two other arriving guests. During the meeting they told us that the first game drive we could make would be the next day (we booked a two night stay), late in the afternoon and the morning after that (the day we would leave again). Later that evening we spoke to the people that arrived with us and they told us that we should not accept that, because the price you pay includes all gamedrives and is full board. The room was not what we expected, a lot of dead insects on the walls and the bathroom was not really clean. Because of our disappointment, we decided to leave one day early. We told the receptionist why and she would discuss this with the head of staff and contact us later.
When we arrived back in Holland I started contacting them, but after a lot of mailing I came up with nothing. But they did admit their mistakes in one of the mails! They did not want to pay back the night we did not stay there, after admitting their mistakes! Really bad management, the staff working in the restaurant was also not very friendly. I would recommend not to visit this lodge, there are plenty others to choose from.

Nice rooms, good food and great staff
The game drives are not too exciting. lions and cheetahs are in enclosed areas. the vegetation doesn't support a large and divers population. the driver Johannes made up for it in great service and keeping.his eyes out.
