Acceptable only if you're passing through and just want a bed
Good location and the bar is awesome, although a bit expensive
Lots of long term residents, the kitchen is so dirty and small it's unusable, the showers and toilets are connected to the dorm and you wake up if someone goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night

Bad
My Son's stuff was search through in a shared form dorm. He was then stitched up with complaints, so he couldn't get another backpacker room (they call each other) and ended up on the street the following evening.

Good for the price, walk distance from the center.
Nice place for the money, close to the center. Stuff is accommodating. Was perfect for our 1 night stay.
The lights from the street come into the room through jalousie.

Nice stay in a comfortable hostel near city centre
I had a nice stay at the Prince Albert in a shared 4-bed room. The common areas were very comfortable and clean and it was a good environment all around, with nice people to talk to. The wifi worked great everywhere. Having heaters in each room made the nights very comfortable and the showers were high pressure and had nice hot water. The carpark is quite spacious and very accessible from the rooms. The hostel is super close to the city centre, so it's great if you want to explore Nelson by foot!
The kitchen area was occasionally dirty, especially the sinks. This is not the hostel's fault (they actually did a very good job of cleaning everything come the morning), but I thought it worth noting. My card to enter the room stopped working at around 9 pm on my last night, which was inconvenient since I could only get in the room if someone was there to let me in.

Would definitely recommend as a good value for money stay while in Nelson.
Great location, friendly staff. nice clean cosy room.
Other guests would leave the kitchen really untidy, not nice making your morning coffee with such a mess.
