The 2 ladies that police the rooms and do laundry are fantastic and should manage the hostal together!!!
The capsules are roomy and have a goose-neck reading light, large shelves that will hold a lot of belongings,,
and thick wool blankets for cold nights.
(1). No receipt is provided for ent payments and this has caused disputes and anger from guests who were convinced that they had already paid for some days;
(2). Management is HIGHLY unreliable. I sent messages to "Norma" via Booking.com from Oaxaca, iinforming them that DHL would send my new passport to Fandango, so please hold it for me;
I arrived 3-4 weeks later and after enting a capsule
for 2 MONTHS. - I learned - the new manager "Alex"
had my DHL envelope with my new passport
sitting in his room the whole feaking time!!!
They are so inept they could not t simply look at my
full name on the envelope. It is a HOSTAL for
Beelzebub's sake!.
How could a DHL envelope with a long-term guest's
ENGLISH name on it go ignored for 2 MONTHS???
I.M.O. a half intelligent business, run by civilized
people would at least post a notice on an info
board for the guests' to see, but that would cost
pesos the management selfishly desires.
(3). The same broken chairs that were there one year
ago were still there as of December 30, 2023, waiting
for you to break your neck, or suffer a concussion;
Zoom-in on the photo !!!
(4). There is NO WAY I will stay at Fandango again.

Great location and value for money. The double bed in the shared dorms was walled off and felt like a mini private room. The staff were amazing and very welcoming and happy to help in planning our day.

Great place for backpackers traveling in Mexico!
The management is really helpful for us poco Spanish people!
That is all I can state, as only 3 days in this hostel!

very friendly staff, good location
cold showers

It was very cheap and was a good place to meet other backpackers. The showers were pretty good too
It was fairly difficult to find (there is no name on the building), and the owner didn't give me, and many other guests, the code until well after check-in time. We ended up waiting outside for about an hour and a half before we could "check in". I say "check in" in quotations because there was no reception, and besides the cleaner and a few people who work in the nearby shop , I don't think I saw a single member of staff. The bathroom was also often very dirty (e.g. unflushed toilets)

Great common areas, comfy beds, clean facilities, everything i needed to cook was in the kitchen.
the only thing missing were hammocks!

Love the place, love the city

* Big kitchen with many long tables and benches covered in what looks and feels like animal furs, for that "10,000 BC" aura;
* 2 blocks down the same street is a big, very well equipped, and very cheap fitness center. They play music requests!
* A Chedraui hyper store, Electra, and shopping mall are just 7-8 minutes away by a collectivo bus, costing $8 pesos;
* The city's main town square with restaurants, cafes, and bars is a 10 minute walk straight up Guadalupe Victoria Street;
* Pets are allowed, but maybe not huge reptiles with razor-sharp teeth & powerful jaws that are always in an attack-mode.
The cobblestone sidewalks on this street can be dangerous because they are narrow, half a meter, or so, higher than the street, and don't have hand-rails. Naturally, cobblestone surfaces are not level, but these sidewalks are slippery when wet.
Good reason to: Wear hike-boots, and avoid strolling about after boozing it up. The internet was a bit sporadic and that might strike terror in the hearts of anyone using a DAW, or doing a Pod-Cast. Not sure if it was the hostel's modem, or not.
Indoor-heating, especially at night, will only be a memory, so consider bringing a jumper and maybe some long-johns.

Even though it's a hostel they offer double bed with curtains, clean bed and towels. Nice open space to sit but can get cold in the end of the day. Good kitchen well equipped. Friendly staff very helpful! Carlos kept our bags while we went to another city for 2 days. 10min to the main square and there are places to eat nearby.
All great

I felt instantly welcomed by Lilli and Carlos. They were so friendly and kind. Light bulb was installed rapidly when I brought it to attention. The room has curtains so there's privacy, comfy beds, clean kitchen. Hot water available ALL DAY! Overall, lovely stay. Thank you Lilli and Carlos and also the cleaner (i forgot her name) for showing great hospitality and making Fandango 100% amazing.
I wished there were proper lights in the women's shower and a nice area to hangout and socialize besides the kitchen area.

Tall ceilings, arches and pillars, cool people eg. Caro makes the best freshly baked bread to order for 30 pesos, fire pit in the open courtyard at night, Carlos the on site manager was super thoughtful, hotel swimming pool just up the street for 80 pesos/three hours,
The bathrooms were clean and functional but they could use a paint job

The beds! Squishy mattresses, privacy curtains, outlets to charge your phone, 8' ceilings. Beautiful architectural details arches pillers tall ceilings lots of tables and chairs.
They need more dishes in the kitchen. Q

I loved the dorm room - the beds were so comfy and there was great pricacy and space.
I didn’t like that it was pretty much unattended. every day I was messaged with a new code to enter but there was no real staff presence to help out.

We arrived super late so the self check in with door codes was really useful. Our bed area was massive, matress super comfy and shelf space with light. Also had curtain for privacy. We slept really well. Hot showers and ok WiFi. Courtyard was great for chilling. Kitchen good size with seating. Location really good!
Our highlight of the stay was the cleaner, she was so lovely always smiling, laughing and joking around and super helpful.
Its nothing against the hostel we loved our stay, and the cleaner always did an amazing job but other travellers were just so dirty. Always making alot of mess in the kitchen, never cleaning up after themselves, if they did the pots would still be dirty. People were stealing others food items. Being vegan i haven't got an issue with others preparing meat around me but the food hygiene was ridiculous raw meat left on the worktops!! Like I said nothing against hostel just unfortunate of our experience.

The kitchen is huge and there is all facilities you need to cook a great meal ! :)
The staff and the owners are super harmful and helpful. Salsa classes frequently during the week.
The place is really nice to live, relaxing, and if you need to dance, it's possible too with all the bar.
