Located in Fort Payne, this charming cottage for $300 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Oakleaf Hideaway is a recently renovated cottage nestled in the trees on 20 private acres atop of Lookout Mountain. Featuring private walking trails, waterfalls and 2,000 feet of frontage on Straight Creek, the cottage is your perfect getaway to unwind and recharge. Located just 1.5 miles from the Visitor's Center at Desoto State Park, the cottage is close to everything including Mentone, Little River Canyon, and Ft. Payne. Master Suite: Enjoy the serenity of the woods and golden sunsets from the comfort of the luxurious King bed featuring 600 thread-count linens. French doors lead to the large back deck with a fire-pit. The master also features a sitting area with an antique settee from France, a master closet, chest, and a master bath with a full-sized washer and dryer. Guest Bedroom: The guest bedroom has two twin beds that can be pushed together for couples. This bright and airy room has beautiful views of the forest and features luxurious linens, drapery and a mural framed with aged local barn wood. Kitchen: The well-appointed chef's kitchen features warm butcher block countertops, a large rustic island, new black-stainless appliances with gas stove, and several details built from wood from a nearby 1800's barn. Rough-sawn open shelving from a nearby family farm sets off the beautiful and artistic decor. Living Room / Dining Room: The open concept living room exudes coziness and warmth. Hand-scraped oak hardwood floors, wood accent walls, and the limewashed fireplace and wood-burning stove will make even the coldest days delightful. A 40-inch 4k smart television has Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV apps. Just bring your favorite TV provider login and enjoy a movie night. While we think the best days are the days spent outside, we do have fast WiFi and LTE/4G coverage. The living room also features a pull-out sofa bed with a comfortable new memory foam mattress. The dining room has seating for six (we've squeezed 9 around the table), and we provide china and service for six as well. The front door is equipped with a digital lock, and we'll provide you a code prior to your arrival.

This is a beautiful woodsy cottage close to the town. It has a wonderful layout, and is decorated beautifully. Everything was neat and clean. The side porch was perfect.
The back deck could use a little work, but it wasn’t too bad.

As others have said, the pictures don't do this property justice. It is very well decorated and impeccably clean. We made a point to enjoy all the special spots: the fire table on the back deck, the day bed on the screened porch, the wood burning fireplace inside, the swing on the front porch, and the creek out back. Location was great: we hiked DeSoto and Little River Canyon during our stay, and enjoyed some beautiful drives in the area

Oakleaf Hideaway was the perfect place for a getaway. My 2 sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed a much-needed getaway after the passing of our 91-year-old father, plus one sister having been diagnosed this year with 4th stage cancer. The cabin was just lovely and had everything we needed, plus some. It’s in the backyard of DeSoto State Park and very convenient to everything nearby. We were not ready to leave this lovely place and will definitely be a repeat customer. Thanks for letting us enjoy your lovely hideaway.

It's not often that a place fully lives up to its description, but this one definitely does and more! The location is peaceful and private, but also very close to hiking trails, Mentone, and Fort Payne. The house itself is beautifully decorated with many thoughtful touches (like string lights and live plants and super soft sheets). And the kitchen has absolutely everything! Also very pet friendly with dog bowls, crate, towels, etc. provided. (There are a couple of loose neighbor dogs who will approach you as you enter/leave the property; they are friendly, but they do bark at you.) We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return!

I’m not sure which was more perfect the gardens in front of the house, the front porch, screened back porch or that the pictures of the house didn’t show just how comfortable this cabin is. The only thing missing was more time in our schedule to stay longer. We hope to be back soon!

Looking for a peaceful stay? This is it! We had a relaxing weekend with our pup and can’t wait to book again. The weather was perfect and reading on the sleeper porch all day was heavenly. Mentone is close by, and the amazing waterfalls and parks made the weekend perfect. We also had great communication with the hosts, who were super friendly and communicative. 10/10!

The hosts communicated before, during and after our stay. The house was spotless. The property was incredibly peaceful, and while only minutes from civilization, it seems like we were in the middle of nowhere. Don't worry about bringing anything except clothes, a tootbrush and food. We had everything else we needed...
My kids were asking when we were coming back, even before we left. If the hosts will have us back, this will be our go to property for a quick few days getaway!

We have stayed in VRBO properties from Colorado to Vermont to Florida. And Lily's and David's place now ranks number 1 with us!
They have literally thought of everything you would need/want in your own home and have it available for their guests--tea and accompaniments; phone chargers on the bedside tables; shampoo, etc in the bathrooms--as examples.
We had the fortune of meeting them during our stay. They are just as lovely as their home. A fantastic vacation.

Perfect getaway
The house was the best stocked rental we have ever stayed. I was able to fix our Thanksgiving dinner with no problem in the beautifully updated kitchen. The wood burning stove/fireplace was so cozy. My boys thoroughly enjoyed exploring the woods and creek. Our 4 year old (autistic and struggles with new places) loved the daybed out on the screened porch and found it very calming. The house was located near all our favorite hiking locations:Desoto, falls, Little River Canyon. I highly recommend this rental to any nature lovers.

Tucked away from traffic and noise it is still close enough to Desoto state Park, Mentone and Little River Canyon. The cabin itself is homey, welcoming and well thought out. It is decorated beautifully with every amenity you could want. We enjoyed walking down to the creek and waterfall and we loved eating breakfast on the back deck, which feels like a tree house. The screened in covered porch is great with the day bed and we also loved the swing. You cannot go wrong with staying here. We are already planning our next stay.

This is the most cozy, well stocked property I have Ever stayed at. So peaceful and quiet. Sat on the back deck and listened to the stream. Beautiful walking paths. I could not recommend this place enough! We all loved it so much.
