About this house rental
Our home towers on the highest peak at Wintergreen Resort. Each of the 4 levels has decks to enjoy the best sunset views across the GW National Forest. The house is crowned by an observation floor and features spacious living areas, 5 BR (bonus of 3 sofa beds - all great for kids), 6.5 baths, large private lot, large sauna & very private secluded out-door hot tub. Three Primary Bedrooms: The main bedroom is a 2 room/2 bath suite & encompasses most of the third floor & includes pull out modular bed in the sitting room. Optional primary bedrooms on the lower and main floor, each with private baths. The main level has a large living room with new furniture, large smart TV, vaulted ceiling and a slate fireplace. Two additional sitting areas flank the large farm table that seats more then 12. Kitchen has been recently updated with stainless appliances, granite and butcher block counter tops, bar stool seating and opens to the large gathering room . The lower first floor has three bedrooms (king, bunk room, & queen) and seating area with sofa bed, and a small exercise/yoga room. All the bedrooms are airconditioned as well the kitchen/gathering area. The main living areas are not airconditioned, but we encourage our guest to turn off the A/C and enjoy mountain breeze. It’s not unusual to sleep under blankets in the summer. The home works great for 3 or 4 couples and a few singles/kids. Guests should consider this home is 20 years ago and there are quirks, tricky windows and wear & tear associated with that. Its our family's vacation house and definitely does not feel like a new cookie cutter suburban track house. We hope you will love it like we do!

Great location and nice sunset views. House set up is nice for a large group and easy commute to all the resort amenities. House has a lot of potential but could use some work. Several windows are drafty however most of the house heats up nicely except the observation floor. Needs space heater. Some
Bathrooms doors don’t close all the way/lock and electrical is funky. Kitchen outlet tripped and couldn’t find the breaker, called owner with no answer but eventually found a breaker in bottom floor closet. Bunk room smelled a little moldy, possibly from the hvac unit being right outside the window. House needs a major deep clean. Had to search through and under couches for our kids toys and you don’t want to see what’s under there. Housecleaning service could do a better job at vacuuming and organizing closets, cupboards, linens and throwing out old items and food from previous stays. I’d say cleanliness and presentation is the downfall to our stay. Overall easy fixes the owner can do to make this rental great and I hope he does because the house has a lot of potential with its amenities.

We stayed with a group of friends for a ski weekend and had a great time. The kitchen was recently updated, and looks like there has been some recent deck work done, too. The property has a great view of the mountains, and the hot tub was well received after a day on the slopes. The kids especially loved hanging out in the loft space on the top floor while the adults gathered around the cozy fireplace in the family room. There are some items that could still use updates in the house, and there were some very minor issues with electrical switches not being able to work (or at least we couldn’t get them to work) for some ceiling fans, etc, but overall, we all really enjoyed the very spacious property and would stay again.

George was easy to communicate with throughout our stay. We enjoyed the house very much. Used the hot tub several times. The house has a lot of fun quirks, plenty of space, and incredible sunsets!

The location and views of this property are great. There are tons of rooms and beds which is great for large groups. HOWEVER - when we got there it looked like it had not been cleaned in a very long time: the sheets were dirty with visible human hairs on them, there were crumbs on the counters, crumbs on the couch, crumbs and bugs on the floors. The bottom level has a very serious mold/mildew problem the smell was nauseating. It is definitely very run down, most of the windows are broken or do not even open; almost every window has a strong rot/mold smell.

Great property for a ski getaway.
Kitchen was well stocked as were linens. Several rooms and pull outs to accommodate, as well as parking.

We read previous reviews that said the property was a 30 year old family home with wear & tear. We were not prepared for how poorly maintained this property was. Fully half of the lights in the house did not work; after contacting owner we found some and replaced as many as we could ourselves. We arrived on the first very cold night of the fall season and there was no heat in the house; could literally see our breath! After following instructions from owner, still had no heat. Contacted him by phone and was told to try breakers. After 2 hours we were finally able to get some baseboard heaters working but not the heat pump. He told me he had workers out that afternoon doing winterizing!??? For a house that sleeps 12, this house has the smallest refrigerator. Wouldn't be so much of a problem if we weren't so far from grocery store. The house needs a thorough cleaning; dust and cobwebs everywhere, and mouse droppings in several kitchen drawers. Surprising since we pay a cleaning fee.
On a positive note, the views from the deck are truly amazing, especially the sunsets! And the outdoor hot tub was sparkling clean and well-maintained. However, this would not be enough to make me rent again. Our saving grace was that we shared good times with family members.

The location of the house was perfect for our family. The views are breath taking, the hiking challenging and the brews were good. It was a great place to relax and reconnect. The house needs repairs, but the beds were comfortable and the linens were fresh. We had a wonderful time!

I cant say enough great things about this place! It is gorgeous, absolutely breathtaking. And as the listing says there is some wear and tear but just more so some windows that were hard to open. We had a group of 11 staying and everyone slept comfortably, the views from all rooms were gorgeous and faced the back, minus one or two that faced the woods. Its near Sherando Lake (15 minutes) and Crabtree Falls (45 min) and very central to the house. We spent a whole day enjoying the home - 4th floor views from the room (mindful of the balcony which is closed off), the sauna, the hot tub, the hammocks, and the living room for a movie night. We LOVED IT and can not wait to be back.

I cant say enough great things about this place! It is gorgeous, absolutely breathtaking. And as the listing says there is some wear and tear but just more so some windows that were hard to open. We had a group of 11 staying and everyone slept comfortably, the views from all rooms were gorgeous and faced the back, minus one or two that faced the woods. Its near Sherando Lake (15 minutes) and Crabtree Falls (45 min) and very central to the house. We spent a whole day enjoying the home - 4th floor views from the room (mindful of the balcony which is closed off), the sauna, the hot tub, the hammocks, and the living room for a movie night. We LOVED IT and can not wait to be back.

We had 13 people that were very comfortable, and our teenage girls loved sleeping up top in what they dubbed the "crows nest". The snowfall was an extra touch of magic. Wonderful home to escape to!! Everything a family could need and hope for awaits in this mountian top home boasting million dollar views! It’s all about the view!
Home is large with lots of functional spaces. Hot tub was a treat. We enjoyed crackling fires every evening in the family room and dinner in the dining room. Windows everywhere allow for beautiful views just wish they all were in working order. House shows it’s age but beautiful all the same! Owner provided nice little touches for our enjoyment like a Christmas tree, outdoor Xmas lights, soaps, TP , nice dishware, glasses, etc. we loved it!!

Perfect Covid hideaway vacation
Overall, the stay was fantastic and the views matched. First thing that I need to say is that this property is huge. We are just a family of 4 and it was really too big for us but we decided to go for it since our travel plans were limited by Covid. The price in the summer was right and the area is beautiful.
You do need to take note of the property managers description of the house because it accurately describes the house. If you're the kind of renter that requires an up-to-date modern kitchen, you're gonna be disappointed, but if you appreciate things like all the space you need and large open views looking out over their mountains, this place is a knockout. We have already booked it for a weekend in the fall.

Spectacular view
Linens were not clean, had stains and missing on some beds. For example only a flat sheet (stained) on master with no fitted sheet. The rest of the home was clean. Owner directed me to clean a set in his closet (also stained). Wish we brought our own.

Perfect property for intimate wedding!
Due to Covid-19 we were forced to cancel our original out of state wedding plans and quickly had to find a local alternative. We found this beautiful property located on the top of the mountain at Wintergreen to host our family for the weekend. We utilized the beautiful overlook (in walking distance) from the property for our ceremony and held our reception at the property. This property is the nicest on the mountain and has the best views by far. The owner of the property, George, was so accommodating prior/during our stay. Our guests LOVED the hammock chairs located in the gazebo of the lower outdoor deck. The beds were so comfortable! Lastly, there is a room located on the 4th floor called the "Bird's Nest" that has the most incredible view of the Blue Ridge. I can't wait to stay there for years to come!
