Location great. Old school charm, in general. Pool nice.
Desperately needs DEEP CLEANING! Gross. From ceiling to floor. Welcome mat, balcony chair cushions, balcony door screen - REPLACE. All rugs-kitchen, Main room, bath - have cleaned or replaced. Both ceiling fans SCRUB. All cabinets and drawers remove contents and clean, then scrub cabinets + drawers. Replace bed pillows. Condo in general has an unclean odor. It has such potential. That’s my two cents.

The condo stunk like mold.. The list of rules took me a lot to read. I'm handicapped and had a hard time finding parking
I paid extra for beach view and I didn't have that it was just a Hussle to get more money out of me

The wall bed was comfortable.
Outside the window was a very busy street, people had a great view into the room from the street.
The room was listed for $129 and the actual cost was $324 with all the added taxes and fees.
Shower was cramped 30"x30", and the shower head was junky.

The staff and location and price
Condo was dirty and dusty, dishes that were in cupboard had stuck on food. Parking was very small but overall we enjoyed it.

Location and facilities are great. Islander inn staff was nice.
The condo manager is nasty. Pages and pages of threats to charge for just about anything you do wrong. I was super careful and prided myself in following all the rules. Unfortunately the space is tight and there is a coffee table on wheels and I bumped it and spilled some coffee on the bed. I thought I had cleaned it up. When I got home I received a nasty note saying "you bled all over the bedding and you're on the hook for $105 for new bedding!" Upsetting! And rude and gross. I HAD a pleasant weekend spending my 62nd birthday, solo and then to receive this message is unprofessional and was totally unnecessary as well as extremely nasty. I also received a picture of a receipt for things I can't figure, except for the 10oz bag of Carmel corn on there.
Super unhappy with this condo manager (?) Owners live on the mainland and I wonder if they know how unsavory she is, or care?

There was anything that you would need for a cozy home made dinner after an adventure packed day. We forgot to write in the journal that was left for guests comments. We loved it. Thank you
Leaving so soon

location close to the beach, close to restaurants, easy access to main road
3 floors to walk up, no fan in bathroom
Sent email to check out, day before I had to check out. Very confusing and scary!

Workers at Front Desk were Awesome, Kind, Understanding, Knowledgeable and Very Patient with many of those checking in at all hours. Many were disappointed because of No Parking and Not easy to Contact Host or Booking.com or person on grounds. This was my first experience and definitely my last...too stressful. Mahalo!!! btw, Front Desk worker (Christy) made sure she took great care of me (Aunty) while I waited in lobby for 3 hrs for my daughter/grandbebe concert finish. I did not want to stay in room 152 by myself and walk up to lobby (car was parked there) at 10pm because I did not feel safe walking by myself thru torched lit pathway. Other guests were okay but many not happy with process and esp. No Parking.
Limited Parking, No Security except for Fron Desk Workers. I'm sure Ellen is a hard worker but she's not friendly at all or understanding...No Aloha!!! I guess I'm an exception since most of the guests are tourists/foreigners. I haven't been to Kona since 1990s, traveled Kona often small kid time...born/raised Hilo/Keaukaha. Many of the guests were not understanding since Kona Islander is not your normal hotel. Even if Ellen was direct with her answers, I can accept her tone dealing with so many guests. Btw, it was very difficult to receive booking.com messages/instructions. It took me three tries to finally get all information. I do appreciate Gayle (Host) for accepting my calls and allowing my 13 yr old grandbebe on day of scheduled stay.

It was clean, tastefully decorated, and comfortable.
There was no elevator. Using the stairs was difficult with suitcases and a handicapped guest.

The property DID NOT ACCOMODATE me...

Nothing to like....
The property DID NOT ACCOMODATE me... no communication.
I arrived at the Inn but no person at the front desk, called and left a VM - no response or call back.
I end up sleeping in my rental car....They should have decline my booking.
Wasted $305 for nothing.

The front desk person could use some customer service training. I don’t think that you should assume that I lied because we used three plates and three cups. The chipped cup could have been there for some time if the prior customers washed and put it away. I certainly don’t expect any extra charges from the host.

The room and property were great. Allot of review complained about it being outdated. I thought it was fine. The location of my room 152 couldn't have been better.
Parking. But I knew from the reviews what to expect. I parked across the street and that worked out fine. I was a little shocked how a $199 room could end up costing $430. But still enjoyed my stay.

We stayed in 2 different units during our stay. Luckily they were close to each other (units 141 and 139) and both on the bottom floor, so we had a patio and didn't need to walk up stairs. Each unit has the same studio floor plan, so they all have murphy beds. Both units we stayed in were furnished well and had full size refrigerators with ice makers and fully stocked kitchens with toaster ovens, microwaves, and coffee pots. Both units were great about leaving some basic things in the refrigerator and cabinets (coffee filters, spices, oils, condiments). One had really nice beach chairs and an umbrella to use. We were definitely hesitant when we pulled up in our car, but once we got in the unit and opened the bed it was comfy and we turned on the AC and unpacked, we were very happy with the accommodations. It was great to be so close to so many restaurant options and to sunsets on the beach. We also really liked that the rooms were very quiet.
The outside of the condos looks off-putting. There are metal screen doors and the parking is limited. The front office to get the keys is not always staffed and we didn't know how to reach anyone.

Too early check out

Location only. Bed was ok. Clean and tidy communal areas outside.
The attitude of the owner and management company. Threats about what will happen and how much you'll be fined before even arriving. Then further threats by the sink in the kitchen making for a great holiday atmosphere. Details on how to get there clearly out of date saying 'Go past Bubba Gumps, next on left' when Bubba Gumps closed about two years earlier so found it hard to find the place in the dark. I booked about a month in advance then when I saw the price doubled when the taxes were applied I tried to cancel within minutes and was told that under no circumstances would they do that, even though it was literally minutes after I had booked. The balcony doesn't se the sun all day. The bed folds down right in front of the fridge which makes loud noises all night. I had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Of seven places I stayed at around Big Island this was the most expensive and easily the worst. Nowhere else doubled their price when adding taxes. Didn't like the attitude of the owner or the management company who point blank refused to cancel my booking, even though I admitted it was my own fault for not understanding how the pricing works in USA (note for non-Americans - everywhere else in the world you get ONE price for the place you hire and never the unnecessary 'plus taxes' bit. Would never stay here again.

The coziness of the room, easy access, upon request the HOST was able to let us check in earlier. Close access to the beach and restaurants. Although I was there for work I was still able to enjoy myself because of the location. Highly recommended to others and would definitely stay here again.
The fact that the check in time is so late.

It was easy to find and very quiet in the evening. John was a great host.
