About this house rental

Nestled in Nikiski, this lovely house for $352 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Anticipate fresh, clean Alaska air, aroma of spruce and birch, the cry of Bald Eagles as you arrive at this cottage. In summer months, the property is surrounded by verdant green and majestic forests. The vast sky of stars and aurora borealis provide winter splendor. This cottage is located on our private, one-acre estate abutting hundreds of acres of DNR (Department of Natural Resources) protected land. This guest house is very cottage-like, but not a true stand-alone cottage as it is attached to our main house. Guests do have a private entry. Your Superhosts here are a husband-and-wife team living the dream on this pristine estate. We’re on hand to support our guests as little or as much as they wish! Our estate has a huge sloping yard with fire pit, benches, picnic tables, gardens and a nature trail that are shared spaces. The nature trail heads up the bluff toward deep forest. The edge of the yard/bluff gives way to a drop roughly 75 feet down to the beach. (Due to erosion, we do not permit beach access from our bluff.) However, there are other beach access points just a mile up the road. These local Kenai beaches are a magnificent place to explore and find colorful agates! Cottage guests will follow a walkway from the parking area to the cottage. Views from the bluff, and from the main windows of this cottage are truly phenomenal. Vast Alaska skies, vibrant sunsets, iridescent northern lights. From the bluff/yard guests will see three notable mountains: Mount Redoubt, Mount Illiamna and Mount Spur. Mount Illiamna is a live volcano; small puffs of smoke are frequently visible. Twin Glaciers are just to the right of Mount Redoubt. Guests will enjoy bird watching and witnessing the diversity of marine life. For example, in late August, thousands of Beluga whales pass across the seascape following the running salmon. Picnic on the bluff! Outdoor picnic tables are the perfect spot to enjoy a morning cappuccino while listing to songbirds and crashing rhythms of ocean waves. Interior: Inside the cottage in summertime, ocean breezes will keep you cool. In wintertime, radiant floor heat will keep you warm and cozy. The cottage is fully furnished, with an open floor plan . The kitchenette is stocked for light cooking. The kitchenette boasts a small sink, plenty of cabinet space, full-size fridge, plenty of counter space, a small convection toaster oven, a small two-burner cook top, and a breakfast bar with coffee/tea station. The coffee/tea station includes an assortment of teas, whole freshly roasted coffee beans, grinder, milk frother, pour-over carafe and filters all included. Kitchen cabinets are stocked with four sets of dishware, mugs, silverware, and pots/pans what type of cookware? Coffee, tea, cocoa, oil, vinegar and an assortment of basic spices are provided. A small dining table seats two and is perfectly suited for a home-cooked meal, or a smorgasbord of ripe produce from the local farmer’s market. This majestic land is famous for its bounty of fresh foods! Two large picture windows and sliding glass doors near the dining table offer dramatic views of the bluff seascape, mountains, glaciers, and sky. The cottage has a queen-size bed (very comfortable! Great quality! Luxurious Bedding!) We provide quilts and down comforters in wintertime. We can also provide an extra floor mattress if needed. The cottage has large windows that offer plenty of natural light during the day. Adjustable shades and premium black-out curtains ensure guests a restful night’s sleep in the land of the midnight sun. Alaskan-themed art and décor are touches that enhance the ambiance. Quilts, maps of the Kenai peninsula, fishing charts, seascape paintings, and wildlife photography adorn the cottage. There’s even a coat rack fashioned from a caribou antler. The cottage has a full bathroom (tub and shower) well lit-mirror and vanity area, plush towels, soap, shampoo, hairdryer, etc. Have you been longing to travel? Searching for a glorious vacation? Come discover Kenai! Guest access Guests have full access to this lovely and cozy year-round 1BR/1BA cottage. Glacier view cottage is located on a private one-acre estate where your superhosts live in a main house. The cottage is not a stand-alone structure. It is attached to the main house but has a private entry and private views of water and mountains. We strive to give guests privacy but assist if needed. The cottage has a designated parking area, and a sidewalk leading from the parking area to the cottage. Shared areas of the property include… a huge yard, with fire pit, picnic tables, benches, gardens, and greenhouses. A nature trail climbs the bluff into the forest. You can stroll through the woods to the north of the property as it is DNR land. Just stay close to the bank...but not too close! Beach access is not permitted from this property (we are mindful of erosion of the bluff) but there are other beach access points just up the road. Other Things to Note: There is a large dumpster along the fence next to the parking for any garbage you want to take out. Please keep garbage in bags when possible! Also please only do light cooking. There is a convection toaster oven, 2 burner cooktop and a huge fridge. The cooking needs to be light because it isn't really vented for heavy cooking and frying in the cottage. Thank you!! No Smoking (anywhere on property) No Parties and no extra guests No Noise between 11pm-6am No Pets (anywhere on property) No Cleaning/Processing fish No unregistered/extra guests. Leave the place as you found it. Extra fee of $200 (per violation) ** We have security cameras on the property, but none point at entry to cabin. Our cameras and game cameras are pointed on driveway, yard and shop. These cameras are mostly to catch those sneaky moose. But we can see who is coming and going in the driveway. Animals: Alaskan communities are known to be in wildlife and domestic animal habitat, so it is advised that all guests take the necessary precautions to not put themselves in harm’s way by approaching or being approached by any animals. Owners have 2 dogs on property. Photo of Mr Darcy and Miss Connie in description. They are super friendly Speagles (Springer/Beagle) who love to run and play and maybe greet you. Please let us know if you have any issues and we would be glad to keep them on leash during your stay with us. Security: Discover Kenai has outdoor security cameras pointed towards driveway, parking and wooded area. We mostly use this footage to detect large animals like Moose and Bear that may be on property.

This was a great place to stay. The view from the bluff was fantastic. Sitting by the fire watching the sun set great. Close to see lots of sights. The bed was so comfortable after a long day of hiking and touring. Lots to do all around you.

Kristi is the most considerate host we’ve ever had. The room was very clean and had everything we could have wanted. The rules are posted, clearly stated, and reasonable. The bed is comfortable and the pillows amazing. It was like a mini-home. We will stay here again and tell all of our friends about Discover Kenai.

We loved the comfy bed, the wonderful sheets and the sharp knives in the kitchen. It was a sweet little spot. Wouldv have loved the locked closet to be available for guests to hang clothing on a rod and stack clothes on shelves. Jerry. The other owner was so personable and helpful. The two dogs there were adorable and lovable too!
